The thesis examines the image of the prostitute in Maggie: A Girl Of The Streets of Stephen Crane, published in 1896 focusing the concepts of feminist criticizes assumed to read and interpret the character Maggie Johnson. It reading from the female experience of interpretation, giving new meaning with this new reading. We assume that the character follows models of representation of women, traditionally widespreaded in the literature, especially in naturalistic works. They elect a fallen woman as the protagonist of several stories of degradation and death. Through the study on women prostitutes in the literature, we were able to reflect on the condition of women in the nineteenth century, noting the inability of the character to integrate socially, among other problems caused by life experiences that degraded. Resident of slums is portrayed by Crane in a wild and degrading environment, in this case, the city of New York, in full industrial development. Despite being the protagonist character, the author highlights the fragile and naive aspect of the character, presenting it as if it was morally and intellectually inferior, unable to act against the already predetermined fate, with a critical situation of working women in that context. We know that the author takes an antagonistic stance of his predecessors, romantics, and, therefore, characterizes Maggie emphasizing romantic concepts in building character, in order to oppose the ideological and formal rules of Romanticism. A key feature of Crane's irony in this story, which conditions are more revealing conflicting moral values, similarly conflicting. We analyze the representation of women in marginal literature and seek to clarify some stereotypes that served to represent the woman

Mostový jeřáb 18 t x 28 m / Overhead travelling crane 18 t x 28 m

Veselý, Vít January 2008 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with examination of a steel construction of an overhead travelling crane with a span of 28 metres, lifting capacity of 18 tons and maximum lifting height of 6.5 metres. The crane will be installed in a hall. Solution of this project contains calculation of load and examination of the crane construction with fatigue under the Czech standard ČSN 27 0103 and the European standard EN 13001 and comparison of calculations under both of the technical norms.

Jeřáb mostový jednonosníkový / Bridge crane one-girder

Malár, Martin January 2014 (has links)
This master’s thesis is focused on the construction design of one-girder bridge crane for the LUVE – PLAST company. Construction design of the crane was developed in cooperation with the K-TECHNIK company, which carried out the production and installation of the crane bridge and the crane runway. The basic required parameters of the crane are: load capacity 8 000 kg, range 16 900 mm, minimum lift 4 650 mm. The crane, which construction is proposed in this thesis will be used for the exchange of forms of injection molding machines. The forms weight is about 7 000 kg. The aim of this work was to create a technical report with an analysis of construction choices solution with important technical and strength calculations. Calculations were made according to the Czech state standards and the literature dealing with the construction of bridge cranes. Further, the strength check of selected parts was made.

Impressionism in the Prose Fiction of Stephen Crane

Swadley, Don R. January 1955 (has links)
This study will examine the works of a writer whose style is radically different from that of his contemporaries, who owes little to writers who came before him, and one who, although he had considerable influence on those who came after, had so individual a manner of writing that he seems to be unique in American letters.

Vývoj nové koncepce autonomních jeřábů / The Development of the New Concept of Autonomous Cranes

Kubín, Martin January 2013 (has links)
The presented PhD thesis aims to verify the possibilities of using capacitive accelerate sensors on the crane and handling technology. Capacitive acceleration sensors of MEMS type are currently widely used in electronics, e.g. laptops and mobile phones. Using these sensors could help to automate cranes, which would eventually reduce the financial costs of material handling. Precise knowledge of their own condition and position of the machine and the load is a necessary part of autonomous manipulators. The first part of thesis deals with the exploration of scientific research in the Czech Republic and abroad. Furthermore the options of mathematical description of moving the load on the rope tow are described including solved examples. One chapter is devoted to the description of sensors that could be used in the automation of cranes. The main part is focused on description of several experiments. The experiments were conducted in a lab constructed specially for this measurement. Mainly basic simpler models are described illustrating abilities of the sensor. The last part outlines further possible progress of research in this area.

Virtual Reality Simulation of Ships and Ship-Mounted Cranes

Daqaq, Mohammed F. 27 May 2003 (has links)
We present a virtual simulation of ships and ship-mounted cranes. The simulation is carried out in a Cave Automated Virtual Environment (CAVE). This simulation serves as a platform to study the dynamics of ships and ship-mounted cranes under dynamic sea environments and as a training platform for ship-mounted crane operators. A model of the (Auxiliary Crane Ship) T-ACS 4-6 was built, converted into an OpenGL C++ API, and then ported into the CAVE using DiverseGL (DGL). A six-degrees-of-freedom motion base was used to simulate the actual motion of the ship. The equations of motion of the ship are solved using the Large Amplitude Motion Program (LAMP), while the equations of motion of the crane payload are numerically integrated; the interaction between the payload and the ship is taken into consideration. A nonlinear delayed-position feedback-control system is applied to the crane and the resulting simulation is used to compare the controlled and uncontrolled pendulations of the cargo. Our simulator showed a great deal of realism and was used to simulate different ship-motion and cargo transfer scenarios. This work received support from the Office of Naval Research under Grant No. N00014-99-1-0562. / Master of Science
