Silva, Roosewelt Lins January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to design the library as a territory of multiple creative experimentation brokered by networks and digital technologies. The theoretical approaches are based on the ethical-aesthetic perspective and problematizations about information technology in libraries. Such approach supports the actions of Creative Technologies Extension Project implemented in community libraries Rede Leitora Terra das Palmeiras in São Luís (MA). Thus, develops direct interventions through meetings, visits and participation in workshops that enabled discuss issues on access to information and culture, in addition to providing trials through free software for creating graphics, images, audiovisual production, production and content sharing Web. the actions triggered a common and heterogeneous plan composed of mediators, teachers, librarians, readers and other civil society actors. The mapping method as a research-intervention approach led monitoring of processes that add modes of collective subjectivity in ownership activities free digital technologies, collaborative and open in community libraries that make up the network. From these experiences, contemporary reconfigurations was observed that modify the concepts and practices in libraries, and based on these perceptions, visualizes the network of libraries as heterogeneous movement flows modulated by aesthetic experimentation, transversal actions and micropolitical claiming new existential dynamics.

Pulse 63: Live Streaming and Architectural Projection Mapping

Hardebeck, George Michael Aaron 11 July 2018 (has links)
Pulse63 is a live streaming and projection mapping installation at architectural scale developed for Moogfest 2018, in Durham, NC. The project explores the relationship between telepresence and "superarchitecture". This paper will consider the artistic aspects of these terms through the work of Eduardo Kac, Pipilotti Rist, Doug Aitken, and others. The intent is to create a visual installation at Moogfest that works as a monolithic visual signifier by applying artistically mediated telepresence and "superarchitecture." / Master of Fine Arts / Pulse63 is an outdoor art installation at Moogfest 2018 in Durham, NC. It uses live concert videos as source material for projection onto a 10 storey building in downtown Durham, NC. The intent of the installation is to create an artistic interpretation of what is happening now from multiple venues within the city and the festival as a singular public art installation.

Transitions Of Light

Corrigan, Nicholas Aaron 22 June 2022 (has links)
My work attempts to articulate how the format visual information is presented in changes our understanding of the visual information and our relationship to it. I explore analog and digital conversions, the audio and the visual sharing 3 dimensional space, and explore our relationship with screens, information and light. This paper discusses the ideas and underlying themes within my digital works that center around light as a form of information and communication. My work is also related to the transformation of technology that has occurred across many platforms throughout my lifetime. The most striking example is the telephone. The telephone has transitioned from an analog device on the wall that we speak into, to the phone we know today; a computer we carry around in our pocket with a screen we communicate through. This transformation of technology has changed our daily lives in ways past generations only dreamt of. We no longer log on or go online. We are always connected to a network of information, individuals and communities by an endless live stream of data. We live in an information super age, where we have access to nearly the entirety of knowledge humans have been able to acquire. Whether by reading by candle light, or a collection of pixels in the form of a screen, we use light to communicate all of these ideas and information. Social media, global positioning systems and on demand services have reached a point where our actions and nearly everything around us is tied to a computational system. My work attemps to bring this computational system into our physical space, where it can be acknowledged in the form of light and sound. / Master of Fine Arts / We live in an information super age, where we have access to nearly the entirety of knowledge humans have been able to acquire.
