AI as a Creative Colleague in Game Level Design

Larsson, Tinea January 2022 (has links)
This paper describes a modification to the mixed-initiative co-creative tool, the Evolutionary Dungeon Designer, and a study performed to evaluate and analyze the co-creative relationship between human designer and AI. The relationship between AI and human designer in creative processes is delicate, as adjusting the autonomy of the AI can negatively affect the user experience. To perfect this type of Human-AI collaboration, further research is needed. In this thesis, different degrees of initiative of the AI are explored, to gain further understanding of mixed-initiative co-creative tools. A user study was performed on the Evolutionary Dungeon Designer, with three varying degrees of AI-initiative. The study highlighted elements of frustration that the human designer experiences when using the tool, and the behaviour in the AI that led to possible strains on the relationship. The paper concludes with the identified issues and possible solutions, as well as suggested further research.

Från Ateljé till Algoritm : Upphovsrätt, äkthet och kreativitet i den AI-genererade bildens tid / From Studio to Algorithm : Copyright, Authenticity, and Creativity in the Era of AI-Generated Images

Björk, Elin Eira January 2023 (has links)
This essay delves into the world of AI-generated images and the tools that create them. These type of tools became widely available in 2022, allowing users to generate images based on instructions written in plain text. The objective of this essay is to explore the landscape of AI-generated images based on text instructions, specifically focusing on the perspectives of key stakeholders: the artist community, the AI companies who create the tools, and the individuals utilising them. The essay draws upon Walter Benjamin's thoughts on politics, mass production, and authenticity as articulated in the essay "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction," published in 1935. The material has been analysed through a phenomenological lens, considering how AI-generated images are perceived and their relationship to representation. The text reflects on who benefits from AI tools and whether it happens at the expense of others. Consequently, the essay also examines power structures and the power distribution among users of AI tools, the AI companies developing these tools, and existing artists not utilising AI tools. The subject is complex, and the essay identifies concerns within the artist community regarding potentially being replaced by AI tools constructed using the work of human artists without their knowledge or consent. Simultaneously, the essay recognises that AI tools can offer individuals who would not typically engage in image creation a pathway to creative expression.

AI på arbetsplatsen : Ett effektivt hjälpmedel eller ett hot mot medarbetarna? / AI in the Workplace : An Efficient Tool or a Threat to Employees?

Rewucka, Gabriela, Figueroa Lindh, Carolina January 2024 (has links)
This study examines the challenges and opportunities associated with the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace. Through a combination of interviews, surveys, and literature review, various aspects of AI implementation are analyzed, including efficiency, productivity, skills development, ethical dilemmas, and collaboration. The results indicate that AI implementation can lead to increased efficiency and productivity by automating routine tasks. However, there are challenges related to employee acceptance, training, and security issues. Furthermore, the importance of establishing ethical guidelines to address potential risks and dilemmas arising from AI usage is emphasized. Communication and collaboration are identified as key factors for successful integration of AI in the workplace. This study highlights the need to understand and navigate the complex dynamics surrounding AI implementation to maximize its benefits and minimize its risks.
