The aim of this thesis is to identify the prospects and the limits of the Czech cultural diplomacy in Sweden. On the one hand, it formulates particular recommendations on how to use present and newly emerging opportunities more effectively; on the other hand it tries to find a way to overcome its present limits. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter deals with the theoretical background of cultural diplomacy and current issues its actors, cultural institutes in particular, encounter. The second chapter seeks to answer what kind of an image the Czech Republic wants to promote abroad and what specific issues it faces in Sweden. The third chapter evaluates some of the Czech cultural diplomacy activities in Sweden by analysing selected programme areas. The fourth chapter offers a complex evaluation of the role of the Czech Centre in Stockholm and the organization as a whole.

First Teachers, Then Students: Media Education in the Czech Republic.

Kunzik, Nicole January 2010 (has links)
1 As more media continues to become available, there is an ever-growing need to consider how certain technologies and media messages affect users and society overall. The aim of this dissertation is to develop an understanding of media literacy in the Czech Republic and to investigate its significance within education, particularly teacher education. The research methods adopted for this study include an in-depth review of relevant media literacy literature, coupled with interviews from Czech Pedagogical Faculty members, and analyses of Czech national policy and university curricular documents. The findings from this work show that the main benefit of media literacy in primary and secondary schools is a non-hierarchical learning environment that encourages discussion, interaction, and critical thinking amongst students. Additionally, current media education policy in the Czech Republic is found to be ineffective. The main conclusion is that with more required media literacy courses or even a national standard for media literacy in teacher education programmes, the Czech Republic could improve teaching methods and present policy.

Česko-německý asymetrický vztah a jeho překonávání na příkladu hospodářské roviny spolupráce / Asymmetry in Czech-German relationship and dealing with it in the sphere of economic co-operation

Bučková, Marie January 2019 (has links)
The study deals with Czech-German economic relations during 1991 - 2016, viewed from the perspective of the theory of asymmetrical dyads. The Czech-German relationship can be perceived as asymmetrical on the basis of inequality between the political-economic possibilities of Czech Republic (CR) - the weaker and Germany - the stronger. Despite this, there are many common aspects such as foreign policy orientation and the nature of the economy. CR and Germany are in many respects compatible with each other and economically complementary. They have similar culture, are geographically close and there are many transactions between them. At the same time, they are connected by a common past and by overcoming conflicts issues. Despite many qualities of Czech-German relationship, the Czech side has traditionally addressed securing its security, freedom and prosperity. After the fall of the "Iron Curtain", Germany engaged in the political-economic transformation of Czechoslovakia/Czech Republic, which turned into a democratic system with market- oriented economy. The development of Czech-German economic relations for the CR meant chance for economic growth, access to technology and, within the framework of business cooperation, to global markets, in addition to the identical institutional context of NATO...

Odraz probíhajících hláskoslovných změn 14. století v Bibli drážďanské / Impact of 14th century phonetic and phonological changes in progress on the Dresden Bible

Rozhkova, Anastasia January 2019 (has links)
The thesis is devoted to the description of the projection of 14th century phonetic and phonological changes in progress onto the graphics of the Dresden Bible, one of the first copies of the oldest complete Old Czech translation of the Bible. For the research we chose three old Czech phonetic and phonological changes: diphthongization ó > uo (and an irregular change o > uo) and two Old Czech umlauts 'u > i (and 'ú > í) and 'o > ě (and 'ó > ie). The basis for the excerption were transliterated texts in the edition Staročeská Bible drážďanská a olomoucká. In our work we focus on the research of phonetic and phonological changes on the basis of the exact number of original and incoming forms in order to give a more accurate description of these changes and to verify the possible existence of statistically significant differences. For this purpose, the words excerpted were manually tagged and sorted out (using the COUNTIF and COUNTIFS statistical functions) in the Microsoft Excel 2007. Their statistical processing was carried out with the help of a statistical online calculator.

Cabrera Balbuena, Iria Elena 25 March 2022 (has links)
[EN] This thesis studies the Czech School according to its political, social and cultural context in the field of stop-motion animation, setting a proper analysis of its language, origin and characteristics as the main objective, and also to understand their influence on foreign creators. With a prolific creation, partly possible due to state support, the Czechs developed a highly artistically charged authorial work, a direct bearer of their history and folk traditions, functioning as a whole as a defining feature of Czech culture. This research is the result of the study of a variant of animation in relation to its context, on the basis of a qualitative and quantitative methodology, sometimes resorting to direct sources. For this purpose, it will be divided into three sections, starting with the establishment of the origins of stop motion animation in general, followed by an approach to the characteristics of the Czech Stop Motion School, and ending with a presentation of the work of foreign creators influenced by Czech filmmakers. Through our results, we found that we can define a specific Czech School for creation in the field of stop motion animation. / Cabrera Balbuena, IE. (2022).
