The thesis analyses housing policy in the Federal Republic of Germany and Czechoslovakia in 1948/9-1960. The aim of the thesis is to verify the assumption, that whereas housing policy of the FRG can be considered as rather successful, that of Czechoslovakia was rather unsuccessful. In addition to that, the thesis aims at interpreting the success/failure with respect to 1) the factual political steps of the two regimes, 2) the level of economic development and demographic trends, 3) the traditions of housing policies before 1948/9 and 4) the situation in housing sector immediately after WWII. The successfulness of housing policy is derived from its results in realm of dwelling construction, financial affordability and quality of housing. The methodological section contains a theoretical classification of the two political and social systems and a definition of housing policy and criteria of the comparison. Following two chapters analyse housing policy traditions before 1948/9 and housing policy of the two states in 1948/9-1960. In the latter case, before anything else, the chapter introduces the institutional framework, main actors and the most important legislation. The first part of this thesis summarizes the "Space Races" in said period, the main task, however, is to analyze space motives in Czechoslovak art and culture during those years; it also comments on possible interpretations and typologies. The research is based on contemporary magazines, illustrated books for children and grown-ups, toys, films, applicated art, design, architecture, paintings and sculptures.

Master thesis Hitler's Beer Hall Putsch in 1923 in the Czech period press focuses on the reception of the Hitler's putch atempt on 9th and 10th of November 1923 in czech and slovak written political press of the 1920's. The preliminary part of the thesis is dedicated to the political and the economical developmnet in the postwar Germany between 1918 and 1923. The following two chapters are dedicated to the Hitler's youth and early polical career and the München putsch. The second half of the thesis evaluate the reaction of the press to the Hitler's putch. It focuses on to the reaction of legitimate bavarian goveremnt and the legitimate german goverment. The press also follows the overlapt of the Münich revolution ant its suppor between some of German nationals in Czechoslovakia. The aim of this thesis is to conduct research of entire history of Jivák settlement in Central Bohemian region since its establishment in 1926 to the year of 2016. Importance of so-called normalization and transformation era will be stressed in this work. The author will also try to track certain matches or disagreements in the area of everyday life, coexistence with other settlers or participation on settlement's events based on interviews conducted with settlers of various age. Another aim of this work is to compare settlement's social life before and after the year 1989. Last but not least, author will try to find out, whether Jivak settlement served as a shelter from political and social reality in 1948-1989 Czechoslovakia. This diploma thesis deals with Czechoslovak-Soviet realtions and influence of czechoslovak ambassador in USSR Zdeněk Fierlinger had on their formation. Its aim is to properly describe the course of events between 1939 and 1945, which most affected the specific nature of diplomatic relations between Czechoslovakia and Soviet Union during the World War II and to evaulate how much Zdeněk Fierlinger intervened in these events. The secondary aim of the thesis is to characterize the diplomatic activity of Zdeněk Fierlinger, to verify or refute the common idea that he was a traitor of the state and finally to find out whether his political and diplomatic steps were motivated by the vision of personal gain or ideological causes.

The author will focus on analysis the program of the "restoration" of the United States of America in the thirties of twenty century, so called New Deal. Primarily focuses on the analysis of his first part in 1933-1936, untill Franklin Delano Roosevelt come in the second presidential term. It will be based on the analysis of the Great Depression and its impact on the United States, which will be seen in the context of the "Roaring Twenties", which prosperity had great affect on the perception of the Great Depression. Except analysis of the process decisions of the FDR, the author will aim on the key components of New Deal- NIRA, AAA and TVA projects, the impact of specific laws and sector development, that has directly affect on them. The author will try to analyze relationship between the USA and Czechoslovakia in time of the New Deal in the years 1933-1936. Thesis will be based mainly on Publisher sources and professional literature predominantly from Anglo-Saxon provenance.

The aim is to answer certain questions that can only be approached through oral history. Thus, on the basis of interviews with six different narrators, we will try to understand the reasons and conditions of their departure before focusing on the establishment of their new life without reference points in Paris, far from home but also in contact with other migrants. 1 ABSTRACT STATUS AND ROLE OF CENTRAL BANKS IN HISTORY This diploma thesis describes and compares the regulation and status of two central banks in our history, the central bank of the independent Czechoslovak Republic and the central bank of the Czech Republic. The aim of this thesis is to present and compare selected aspects of both central banks through the method of analysis and comparison. The hypothesis is that both banks, as central banks of democratic states, are similar in their regulation and status. The intention is to verify this hypothesis and find out whether the Czechoslovak Republic legislation was a source of inspiration for the creation of central banking legislation when the Czech Republic was established. The first part of the thesis describes the banking system, the characteristics and origin of central banking in the world and the Czech region. Subsequently, the circumstances of the establishment of the National Bank of Czechoslovakia and the Czech National Bank are presented. The second part deals with the constitutional and legal regulations of both central bank and the objectives of their activities. From 1948 to 1989, the newspaper Rudé právo was the central press authority of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. Its content that was presented to the public, was ideologically focused in accordance with the current propaganda line of the Communist Party. After the Velvet Revolution in 1989, the situation began to change and, above all, domestic political content began to go through considerable change. This thesis analyzes the domestic political articles that were published in the Rudé právo during 1989 - eleven months before the Velvet Revolution and the period after the Velvet Revolution until the end of 1989. This work captures what topics the texts dealt with, which topics were preferred and which were neglected. The thesis also captures and describes how and when exactly the content of the paper began to change, how the attitudes of editors and the tone of the texts has being changed, which new topics began to appear in the press and how the language and rhetoric of the newspaper have changed.

Markéta Šebestová: Conception of Czechoslovak Jews' Identity in Židovská ročenka (1954-1968) Abstract This thesis is concerned with Židovská ročenka (Jewish Yearbook, JY), mostly literary periodical published by Rada židovských náboženských obcí v zemích České a Morav- skoslezské (Council of Jewish Religious Communities in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia), during the 1950s and 1960s. Main subject of the thesis are the contents of JY, which I set in historical social, political and ideological context. In the thesis I concern myself with question, how image of Czechoslovak Jews provided by JY corresponds to the structure of contemporary Jewish community. Further I inquire, whether and how JY reflects the official limitation of Jewish identity solely to religious denomination. I also address question, how are represented relations of the Czechoslovak Jews to majority culture, especially Czech, and to the German culture, which historically constituted minority in the Czech lands. I concern myself with the presentation of Shoah, which was most linked to official ideological concerns. I also inquire about the diversity of artistic representations of the Shoah, included in JY.
