Mediální obraz vstupu vojsk Varšavské smlouvy do Československa ve vybraných italských denících Media portrayal of Warsaw pact invasion to Czechoslovakia in selected Italian newspapers Bc. Sabina Růžičková Abstract The diploma work "Media portrayal of Warsaw pact invasion to Czechoslovakia in selected Italian newspapers" brings closer look at this historical phenomena from the view of several Italian newspapers. The task was to analyze journals published on the Apennine Peninsula and their reporting about this invasion regarding their political profile. The examined units were the form, the content and size of reports. In the beginning of my thesis, I was trying to provide a closer look at the situation in Czechoslovakia in 1968, the process of becoming more liberal and free, which was violently interrupted in August 1968 by the Warsaw troops. In the end of my diploma, I used a comparative historical analysis to see how the particular Italian media informed its readers about the situation and how much they different in the point of view at the situation

Furthermore, the thesis examines the function of the media in the everyday life of normalisation households and identifies the sources of images responsible for bipolarization of the outside world and their nature. It also deals with the public view on the importance of free media for the functioning of a democratic society. Last but not least, the thesis tracks the possibility of obtaining information from official, unofficial and foreign media. To be able to conduct the above mentioned analyses, the base of this thesis lie in historiography, several chapters deal with formal and informal pressure exerted on the official media sources and circumstances of foreign media broadcast on the Czechoslovak territory. Diploma thesis "Media covering of laying-off and unemployed in Lidove noviny during 1. half-year 1930 and in Mlada Fronta DNES during 2. half-year 2008 - Comparison of two approaches" compares reactions of forenamed newspapers to expansion of economic depression which forces employers to reduce cost of production and cost of labour force. Diploma thesis compares the influence of the rate of unemployement in various regions to their representation in medias and also compares the influence of the rate of unemployment in various sectors of economy to their representation in medias. Diploma thesis also analyses subjects of business news which concerned the problem of unemployment.

The paper describes the development of the content of Mateřídouška magazine in 1945 - 1955 against the backdrop of political and social developments in post-World War 2 Czechoslovakia. These trends included robust centralization of media and their subordination to the Communist regime. The paper examines the characteristics of propaganda and its role in media as one of the key instruments of totalitarianism. It explores the use of Communist propaganda in Czechoslovak juvenile literature. The second part of the paper describes the founding of Mateřídouška and its position among contemporary newspapers and children literature. It examines the influence of the editors-in-chief, namely that of František Hrubín and Jiří V. Svoboda, on the contents of the magazine. The third part describes the application of propaganda on the youngest readers during the first years since the inception of the magazine. The hermeneutic analysis covers various aspects of propaganda, including the cult of personality, celebration of labour, the role of armed forces and other phenomena of the early Communist period in Czechoslovakia.

The basic aim of the thesis is to provide a sufficient image of the German minority's, the so-called "Sudeten-Germans'", legal status in the first Czechoslovak republic. The author of the thesis decided to include also a brief outline of the legal status of nations in the era of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy besides the analysis of all the three law of national minorities mainstays, the way they are specified by today's jurisprudence, together with the description of their origin circumstances. This was the time when both the real and theoretical basis of the issue were formed, going hand in hand with historical events that predetermined the following historical development in this case. Space is also given to the international political situation which had, together with the international legislation, essential influence on the origins of domestic legislation dealing with the German minority's status and its incorporation into the Czechoslovak republic itself. The thesis is divided in two basic parts - Cisleithanian Law of National Minorities and Czechoslovak Law of National Minorities and Protection of Minorities. The diploma thesis focuses on the experimental and educational reform schools, that have been developed and operated in the 20th and 30th of the 20th century in Czechoslovakia. It shows the political situation in the newly formed Czechoslovakia, as weel as monitors the development of education after 1918. The core of this diploma thesis is in the reform efforts of selected experimental schools. It presents experimental work school in Holešovice, "Dům dětství" in Horní Krnsko and "Dětská farma" of Eduard Štroch. In this part of thesis were the educational devices and objectives of these experimental schools, the organization and progress of teaching described. It also focuses on the selected individuals who were participated in their creation. The thesis analyzes the reform effort, which was followed by reform educators in the 30th, mainly the reform attempt of Václav Příhoda and his unitary educational model.

The master thesis with topic "Female broadcasters in Czechoslovakian radio and radio for women" is describing, based on historical events during thirties in the twentieth century, development of radios broadcasting in Czechoslovakia. In the first chapter the author devotes to technical development, new inventions, international broadcasting and further censorship and radios reorganizations. By signature of Munich's agreement emerged special institution for censorship, which caused problems to some employees of Radiojournal. Important part of this chapter is also introducing Prague's program conception and Brno's studio, which became a big rival to the capital. Second chapter is devoted to the analysis of program called "Radio for women". The most important part of master thesis introduces topics, which were typical for examined period and which were prepared mainly for female listeners. Lectures were connected with cooking, household, upbringing or studies. Woman was understood mainly as expectant mother taking care of babies and household. Life of first female broadcasters of Radiojournal, for example Zdeňka Walló, Marie Magdalena Tomanová, Helena Kronská and others, describes last and third chapter. The thesis describes organization of hops harvest, process of harvesting work and after-work activities of temporary staff. This thesis contains occurrences of August 1968 in Czechoslovakia. The harvesting work was complicated by raid of Soviet Army in this year.

The diploma thesis named "The czech immigration to Chile after the year 1948: Three case studies" focuses on the emigration of the citizens of former state of Czechoslovakia to various countries of Latin America. In the case of this paper namely to Chile - a country that accepted together with other countries of the region, specifically Argentina and Brasil, a significant number of the emigrants from the post-war Europe. The main emphasis is placed on the czech immigration to this latin-american country after the year 1948, which implies the period after the so called coup d'état in Czechoslovakia which finished the division of the european continent into the "capitalist" western part of Europe cooperating with the United States of America and the communist eastern part under the supremacy of the Soviet union. There was a lot of people that had chosen to cross the ocean and emigrate from the the middle- and eastern european countries, where the rapid and sometimes violent changes took place. The case studies of three czech families (Platovský, Sklenář and Reichmann) which came from different social, economic and religious background, prove that whatever the "origin" was, the czech families did not get lost in their new countries (in this case in Chile) thanks to their diligence and skills, and they...
