Vývoj střední délka života a dlouhověkosti v ČR / Vývoj střední délky života a dlouhověkosti v ČR

Fridrichová, Barbora January 2015 (has links)
This diploma thesis analyzes trends in life expectancy of long-living people in the Czech Republic. Aim of this study is to compare developments in life expectancies for long-living people in the Czech Republic and Austria between 1960-2014, both in terms of predetermined age groups and between both sexes. This work also includes a projection of mortality rates and life expectancy. Projections are calculated for year 2050, specifically for people of 60 years and older, and it is based on mortality projections from the Czech Statistical Office. Values are given for men and women separately. While calculations and estimates show that life expectancy is extending, it impacts most developed countries with the burden of aging population, manifested by overal decline in mortality rates and increasing amount of elderly people. Historically in most societies an 80 year old, or older person was a rarity, but in recent years their number is increasing to the point of being a new normal. This trend is obviously positive, but it does pose a number of challenges for the respective societies, especially for their pension, social security and medical systems.

Laserové mikroobrábění / Laser micromachining

Láznička, Pavel January 2014 (has links)
This thesis deals with lasers, their general theory and application. Then a theoretical part describes laser micromachining and engraving. Experimental part of thesis deals with several experiments performed by powered fibre laser which is not primarily intended for the field of micromachining. Experiments were mainly evaluated by several types of microscopes where the amount of removed material was appraised. By particular experiments removed material was in accordance with used working parameters of laser and a significant role plays machining material. It emerges from the experiments that for the field of laser micromachining and engraving shorter pulses are more suitable (minimal pulse duration was 1 ms in experiment) and it is connected even with a way of removing material. Applied powered laser can be used for micromachining in specific fields of production.

Lineární semiflexibilní polyelektrolyty v roztocích / Linear semiflexible polyelectrolytes in solutions

Bačová, Petra January 2010 (has links)
Title: Linear semiflexible polyelectrolytes in solutions Author: Petra Bačová Department: Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague Supervisor: Doc. Ing. Zuzana Limpouchová, CSc. Supervisor's e-mail address: zl@vivien.natur.cuni.cz Consultant: Mgr. Peter Košovan, PhD. Abstract: In this thesis I used the Molecular dynamics simulations for study of charged polymers (polyelectrolytes) and their behaviour in solutions. Wide range of polyelectrolytes are se- miflexible and in contrast to neutral polymers it is possible to influence their stiffness by changing the properties of solution as for example ionic strength. The chain flexibility may be characterized by the persistence length. Thesis explains how to express the persistence length from orientational correlation function which shows the double exponential decay. Two contributions to chain stiffness are discussed and the interest is concentrated around electrostatic persistence length which seems to be scale dependent. An effect of added salt on the chain conformation is studied. Salt is treated implicitly within the Debye-Hückel approximation. The results are confronted with OSF theory and the conclusions of vari- ational calculations of Maghi and Netz. The presented thesis describes the conformational behaviour of polyelectrolytes in salty solutions,...

Komparativní fenotypická studie vybraných forminových mutantů Arabidopsis / Comparative phenotypic study of selected Arabidopsis formin mutants

D'Agostino, Viktoria January 2018 (has links)
Actin filaments and microtubules are involved in cell development and morphogenesis. Plant Class II formins regulate both cytoskeletal polymers. However their function has not yet been fully described. This study examines effects of LOF mutations in Arabidopsis thaliana FH13 (AT5G58160) and FH14 (AT1G31810) genes on early root system development using a pharmacological approach. Since measuring root length of numerous mutant lines in multiple conditions is laborious and time consuming, this thesis also involves optimization of this process with the aim to establish a reliable method of fast visualisation and measurement of Arabidopsis seedlings in a time series in the laboratory. Furthermore, statistical analysis for a large amount of data gathered in multiple conditions had to be optimized. While no significant phenotype in terms of root length was found in fh13, fh14 and double fh13 fh14 LOF mutants under standard conditions, treatment with cytoskeletal drugs revealed possible changes in lateral root branching in an fh14 mutant. Nevertheless, specific function of FH13 and FH14 remains a question.

Sociální determinanty očekávané doby dožití v tranzitivních ekonomikách / Social Determinants of Life Expectancy in Transition Economies

Song, Fei January 2018 (has links)
This thesis investigates the impact of social determinants on life expectancy in 16 transition economies from 1995 to 2012 by a panel data regression analysis. The regression result suggests that, air quality, coverage for tertiary education, spending in health care have statistically positive associations with life expectancy. To be specific, 1 microgram per cubic meter reduction in PM 2.5 air pollution(mean annual exposure) is associated with a gain of 2.16 months of life expectancy at birth. 100 dollars increase in health expenditure per capita is associated with a gain of 2.4 months of life expectancy at birth. 10% points increase in the gross enrolment ratio for tertiary school is associated with a gain of 3.6 months of life expectancy. But the proxy variable of democracy(Unified Democracy Sores), Economic Freedom and out-of-pocket health expenditure are not significant factors of life expectancy.

Co vysvětluje různé trvání velké recese napříč zeměmi? / What explains different duration of the Great Recession across countries?

Petrů, Vojtěch January 2020 (has links)
The research concerning differences in duration of the Great Recession is limited and inconclusive. We define duration of crisis as the count of years lost due to the crisis, and estimate the determinants of crisis duration on the dataset of 54 developed and developing countries. This thesis contrasts with previous literature by employing Bayesian Model Averaging (BMA) to accommodate for the large amount of potential explanatory variables and to address model uncertainty. Moreover, an innovative measure of export competitiveness, which accounts for the changes in non-price factors such as quality, is used. The results bring suggestive evidence of positive impact of developed financial markets, high share of private consumption and improvements in export competitiveness. We also find positive effect of fiscal policy stimulus once it is controlled for the feedback loop of uncertainty which appears when heavily indebted countries finance fiscal stimulus through issuance of additional debt. Lastly, it needs to be concluded, that the results are not robust to all prior specifications. In particular, the more restrictive Beta binomial model prior shrinks the statistical significance of aforementioned results heavily. Vliv kondice pacientů před transplantací plic na délku hospitalizace po transplantaci / Influence of the condition of patients before lung transplantation on length of hospitalization after transplantation

Saláková, Kamila January 2019 (has links)
This thesis aims to assess whether the level of the physical condition of patients before lung transplantation affects the length of hospitalization after transplantation. The study includes patients over 18 years of age with both unilateral and bilateral lung transplantation who underwent hospitalization between 2016 and 2018 and underwent a six-minute walk test in the preoperative examination. Data were collected at the 3rd Department of Surgery, First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague and Motol University Hospital and at the Department of Pneumology, 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague and Motol University Hospital. The results partially confirmed the correlation between hospitalization and physical condition in some patient groups. Thus, the higher the level of fitness in patients before lung transplantation, the shorter the hospitalization period. The length of hospitalization is influenced not only by the condition of the patient before surgery but also by other significant preoperative, perioperative and postoperative factors that are not related to the condition. For this reason, there is generally no clear correlation between the length of hospitalization and physical condition. Preoperative condition improvement is desirable in lung transplant candidates...
