Diagrammes de décision : contraintes et algorithmes / Decision diagrams : constraints and algorithms

Perez, Guillaume 29 September 2017 (has links)
Multivalued Decision Diagrams (MDDs) are efficient data structures widely used in several fields like verification, optimization and dynamic programming. In this thesis, we first focus on improving the main algorithms such as the reduction, allowing MDDs to potentially exponentially compress set of tuples, or the combination of MDDs such as the intersection of the union. We go further by designing parallel algorithms, and algorithms handling non-deterministic MDDs. We then investigate relaxed MDDs, that are more and more used in optimization, and define the notions of relaxed reduction or operation and design efficient algorithms for them. The sampling of solutions stored in a MDD is solved with respect to probability mass functions or Markov chains. In order to combine MDDs with constraint Programming, we design the propagators of all the types of MMDD constraints in solvers, and introduce a new one, the channeling constraint. These new propagators outperform the existing ones and allow the reformulation of several other constraints such as the dispersion constraint, and even to define new ones easily. We finally apply our algorithm to several real world industrial problems such as text and music generation and geomodeling of a petroleum reservoir.

Macroscopic fundamental diagrams for Stockholm using FCD data

Feng, Gao January 2011 (has links)
Macroscopic fundamental diagrams (MFD) reveal the relations among flow, speed and density in a large geographic region. After literature review on macroscopic analysis, the similar methodology is applied in this thesis. The purpose of the thesis is to find the evidence that is able to prove MFD existing in Stockholm urban region. Both floating car data (FCD) based on global positioning system (GPS) data from taxis travelling in Stockholm region and traffic data from fixed detectors data source are used to construct the fundamental diagrams. Geographically, the usage of data is extended from single link to multiple links, then to the entire study region. The temporal phase is restricted in one weekday and weekend. The diagram of flow vs. speed based on single detector is found disordered, by contrast, the diagrams of cumulative flow, speed and density for all detectors represent orderly. MFD diagrams proposed in Yokohama case study by Geroliminis and Daganzo are reproduced with cumulative data in this thesis.  Therefore, it can be proved that MFD exists when using data from multiple links. However, the cumulative data from fixed detectors only represents the traffic on links where they locate, not the entire region. To overcome it, GPS data from taxis, which covers the whole region, is analyzed with same method. Because full taxis travel in the same manner as normal vehicles, they are selected to approximate traffic in whole region. A neat curve of flow vs. speed is produced and it coincides with corresponding diagram in the reference paper. It enhances the conclusion that MFD exists in the entire study region. Moreover, based on the constant ratio between average link flow and region exit flow, a controlling density policy is discussed in aiming for maximizing trip completion.

Pikora, Jindřich January 2021 (has links)
Diagrams are useful to visualize and design complex structures and relationships. They are frequently used in areas like software engineering or data flow management. There are a plethora of tools that allow a user to draw a diagram; however, they represent a diagram as an image. On the contrary, there are tools specifically designed to utilize a model behind the diagram, but they often lack in the area of user interaction and user interface. The thesis aims to try to bridge this gap, by providing a multiplatform implementation of diagram editing library in Flutter. By doing so, the library allows developers to focus on the utilization of the underlying diagram model. This will support the creation of new applications that offer modern user interface and utilize the diagram model. The library is not tailored to a single use-case or a diagram type. Instead, it focuses on general support of view or edit diagram operations. As Flutter can run in multiple environments, like mobile phones or web browsers, the library is designed to provide a user friendly experience for all of these platforms. The library design allows easy implementation and application in different areas, use-cases. This is demonstrated on two proof-of-concept diagram editing applications that use the library. 1

A Framework for Integrating Influence Diagrams and POMDPs

Shi, Jinchuan 04 May 2018 (has links)
An influence diagram is a widely-used graphical model for representing and solving problems of sequential decision making under imperfect information. A closely-related model for the same class of problems is a partially observable Markov decision process (POMDP). This dissertation leverages the relationship between these two models to develop improved algorithms for solving influence diagrams. The primary contribution is to generalize two classic dynamic programming algorithms for solving influence diagrams, Arc Reversal and Variable Elimination, by integrating them with a dynamic programming technique originally developed for solving POMDPs. This generalization relaxes constraints on the ordering of the steps of these algorithms in a way that dramatically improves scalability, especially in solving complex, multi-stage decision problems. A secondary contribution is the adoption of a more compact and intuitive representation of the solution of an influence diagram, called a strategy. Instead of representing a strategy as a table or as a tree, a strategy is represented as an acyclic graph, which can be exponentially more compact, making the strategy easier to interpret and understand.

Examensarbete Moelven Valåsen AB. / Thesis Moelven Valasen AB

Alexandersson, Tobias January 2022 (has links)
The Moelven Valåsen AB sawmill will within a 5-year period increase production from 375,000 𝑚3to approximately 500,000 𝑚3per year by building a new saw line. This has more led to the company going up from 2 shifts to 3 shifts to be able to meet this demand. This has led to the finished goods inventory before the customer has become full, and as a result the company has had to stand still. To investigate this, this thesis has investigated what the flow of the finished goods inventory looks like with the help of some tools to analyze the flow but at the same time develop the problems that may be the basis for this problem of the inventory becoming full. What has been concluded is that there are many different challenges to solving this problem. This thesis has provided an overview of where the problem may be in the flow and what it is due to. What has also been developed are some improvement proposals that could benefit the company and be developed so that the capacity of the warehouse can increase and become more efficient.
