Title: Computer Science Education at Grammar Schools Author: Daniel Lessner Department: Department of Software and Computer Science Education Supervisor: RNDr. Tomáš Holan, Ph.D., Department of Software and Computer Science Education Abstract: Computer science is not a required component of general education in Czechia. The lack of published local experience impedes the search for general agreement in basic questions, such as: Is computer science in general education possible? Is it beneficial? What educational goals should it have, what topics should it cover? The goal of this thesis is to offer empirically verified answers to these questions, considering grammar school level (students 15-18 years old) in Czechia. A set of fundamental ideas of computer science has been identified and used to develop an introductory course. The course was repeatedly tested, evaluated and improved, following the design-based research methodology. The level of students' achieve- ments as well as their own view of the novel approach to teach "informatics" was tracked. Contrary to the widely held belief (in Czechia), it turned out that computer science in general secondary education is possible and beneficial for the students, as long as the level of difficulty and specific goals are chosen appro- priately. This paper describes the development of a pre-school child, their relationship with their coevals and adults, acquire of social rules and gives a true picture of the main activity of a child of this age. It also deals with drama improvisation as a method of drama education. It deals with its goals, functions, sorting, models in detail and presents the needs of the pedagogue of drama education and their attitude to children. The text is completed with examples of games, plays and exercises focused on drama improvisation. A great part of the work deals with didactics of drama improvisation. It describes the sources of ideas, assignments of themes and topics, preparation, construction, leading, reflexion and evaluation of drama improvisation. It examines attitude, behaviour and action of a teacher during drama improvisation. It then describes the project and its kinds, project method and education, its advantages, problems and principles. The part of the work is a project focusing on drama improvisation which is carried out in praktice.

The diploma work is focused on students of first year General Nurse who do not have medical high school education. These students during the preparation have to be familiar with significant amount of specialized curriculum before their first professional practice. The work investigated how this demanding preparation could be improved. The research showed that these students would welcome such optional course focused on practical training of nursing skills. This optional subject could result in a reduction of negative feelings from the first professional practice.

The thesis deals with the understanding of metaphors and symbols by children of older school age, i.e. the period of adolescence. Subsequently it turns to the conception of metaphors and symbols in individual areas of human life and thinking. It is concerned with the area of aesthetics, in particular with art, drama, music and literature. Further, it studies the conception of metaphors and symbols in philosophy, sociology, psychology (especially social and depth psychology), religion and bible studies. The practical part sums up the findings introduced in the theoretical part and infers from them the consequences for the religious pedagogy and didactics of symbol focused on the older school age. In the final part, several exemplary teaching lessons are outlined, which correspond to the introduced theoretical and practical pedagogical findings and which aim at helping the adolescents to disclose the world of metaphors and symbols not only in religious sphere.

The diploma thesis ``Teaching the czech language with the help of smart board`` concentrates on the work with the smart board during the lessons of Czech language. The aim of this thesis is to make a CD with three lessons taught in the practise. This work is divided into two parts {--} the theoretical and practical part. Some basic terms concerning the interactive board and its facilities are explained in the theoretical part. It also deals with the overview of the types of the smart boards, interactive textbooks, interactive exercises, interactive classrooms etc. Some softwares are mentioned here too. There is also a part mentioning some news when teaching with modern technologies in the Czech Republic. The basis of the practical part is to create a manual on a CD that will be proved in the practise and will be able to be used in the future teaching of Czech language. The CD will contain three exemplary lessons. The next part of the theoretical part will be a questionnaire gained by the teachers who teach Czech language with the help of smart board and their notes and opinions. Every single chapter and its subheads serve for its own dividing.

K vývoji latentních znalostí biologie živočichů:srovnávací studie / On the development of latent animal biology knowledge: a comparative study

This thesis investigates latent theoretical knowledge and practical skills in zoology in differently aged sets of basic- and grammar school pupils and students of biology- and natural history education at faculty of education. Examination was taken by test complemented by screened set of photographs and pictures of animals, which was submitted to sample of 844 respondents. It was discovered, various year-class of basic- and grammar schools pupils and students of biology- and natural history education keep in only slightly above-average latent theoretical knowledge and skills of basic zoology curriculum. Biology education and naural history education students finishing their curricula prove less then 85 % success of theoretical and practical parts of the test used for investigation. It was discovered, the time period after the zoology curriculum had been taught has different effect to level of latent knowledge of differently aged respondents from different types of schools. Results of investigation found between the years 2006 - 2008 are analyzed, evaluated and compared with results of similar past studies.

Also, there is an analysis of a textbook that is used in teaching accounting at business academies and a factual analysis and didactic curriculum of accruals. Secondly there is a practical part of the thesis consists of pre-research, which was a base of experimental verification of selected methods in teaching of accruals at a business academy.
