Komparativní aspekty didaktiky angličtiny v českých a australských diplomových pracích: Karlova univerzita versus The University of Queensland / Comparative aspects of TEFL in Czech and Australian MA theses: Charles University versus The University of Queensland

Braunová, Vendula January 2011 (has links)
This study attempts to identify learning opportunities at the Department of English Language and ELT Methodology at Charles University in Prague via a comparison with an Australian institution, The University of Queensland located in Brisbane. The secondary objective of the study is to further thesis writing culture at the Department at CU by cataloging and auditing past TEFL theses. Thus, future students could more easily and efficiently identify new areas for research and benefit from the foundations laid by previous students. The first half of this thesis provides a review of previous works conducted in the field of the history of English linguistics, with a special focus on ELT Methodology at CU. Thus, a list of Prague TEFL theses submitted between 1946-2008 follows. A similar list is created for UQ TEFL theses between 1994-2009 on the basis of research at UQ that was carried out in 2009-2010. This results in a comparison of TEFL theses topics from both universities' intersection 1994-2008. This information is then linked to establishment of areas of strength or improvement at CU. In phase two of this study, MA theses writing guidelines released by CU and UQ are compared. These guidelines are characterised into five categories, i.e. flexibility, structure, academic integrity, conformity, and...

Výuka slovní zásoby / Teaching vocabulary

Havránková, Anna January 2015 (has links)
This thesis presents different points of view on vocabulary. Its aim is to define its role in language teaching. There are four main chapters in the theoretical part: history of methodologies, psychological and neurolinguistic aspects of teaching, fields of vocabulary knowledge and finally stages of vocabulary teaching. The work addresses both the historical development and current tendencies. In the practical part, we first made a didactic analysis of selected textbooks which deal with vocabulary. Furthermore, a selected range of vocabulary (family) was analysed according to the techniques of introducing, semantisation and practicing activities. Several shortcomings were revealed, such as lack of information about the pronunciation, word grammar, register, audio recordings and especially dearth of language skills nowadays often emphasised in Europe. The last part of this work was to create a separate file for teaching the topic of family, so that on the one hand it corresponds to the theoretical knowledge and on the other hand, is based on an analysis of textbooks. Therefore it was possible to demonstrate their applicability to the given range of vocabulary. The aim of the thesis was to define the role of vocabulary in teaching, which we did not do only in methodology, but also in linguistics and...

Olomouc, VK, M I 357) a edice jeho vybraných částí / How to study successfully in the middle ages? An analysis of the late medieval treatise "De modulo studendi" (ms.Olomouc, RL, M I 357) and an edition of its selected parts

Odstrčilík, Jan January 2012 (has links)
The thesis analyses a previously untreated and unexplored treatise entitled De modulo studendi. It is located in ms. M I 357, kept in the Research Library in Olomouc, formerly from the Carthusian monastery in Olomouc. In the first part the problem of dating the treatise and the manuscript is discussed by analyzing the physical characteristics of the manuscript and its content. It seems likely that the manuscript was written sometime in 1450-1460's. The treatise itself seems to be written after 1456. In this section is also shown, how the medical part of the treaties depends directly on a set of medical prescriptions, called Recepta ac consila medica, which precede the treatise in the manuscript. In the second part the content of each chapter of De modulo studendi is summarized and commented. The treatise provides special advices on schoolbooks at the university level as well as the general advices for successful study. An edition of the selected parts of the treatise is also included in this work.
