Komparace panamských vlád Omara Torrija a Manuela Noriegy s důrazem na diplomatické vztahy se Spojenými státy americkými / Comparative Study of the Omar Torrijo and Manuel Noriega Governments with Focus on Their Diplomatic Relations with the United States of America

Koutský, Tomáš January 2020 (has links)
The master's thesis is divided into three research questions. The method of a comparative case study was applied for the first two research questions. Methodology for a single case study was used for the third research question. Additionally, conceptualization, operationalization, and a brief historical description precede the main research question. The first question focused on comparing the characteristics of the Torrijos and Noriega authoritarian regimes. The second research question analyzed the diplomatic relations of the regimes with the United States. The third research question focused on techniques mentioned in the literature specializing in small states. I tried to find mentions of such techniques during the negotiations about the future of the Panama Canal during the Torrijos era. In relation to the first question, significant differences between the characteristics of the regimes were witnessed. Those were further discovered for the second research question as well. The Torrijos regime had good, intensive diplomatic relations with the United States for the majority of its existence. The Panama Canal Treaties are a testament to the fact. Although Noriega's regime had relatively normal diplomatic relations with the US until 1986. The diplomatic relations deteriorated in a dramatic...

Volfová, Natálie January 2022 (has links)
Innovation is an essential concept of today. Politicians, scientists, but also ordinary people talk about this concept. Everyone thinks that innovations are beneficial and needed. For a long time, this concept was primarily associated with the private sector. Nowadays, it is possible to find it in the everyday communication of public organizations and institutions. Because of that, it is possible to ask how public organizations who create state cultural diplomacy see innovations in their field of interest. Two cases - the Czech Republic and France display the essential differences and features in the adoption of innovations in the cultural- diplomacy agenda. The qualitative analyses of strategic documents, annual reports, and information about the performing cultural actions during the period 1.1.2015 - 31.12.2019 can show which innovations in the creation of cultural-diplomatic activities have appeared and if its adoption has differed in the two cases. The analyses include the French Institute in Prague and Czech Centre in Paris. Master's thesis will identify the types of innovations in cultural diplomacy, and the innovations will be classified into the typology of innovations in the public sector. In addition, it will be essential to discover if the state can affect the effective adoption of...

Zahraničně-politické nástroje malých států - ekonomická a veřejná diplomacie Taiwanu / Instruments of foreign policy of small states - Taiwan's economic and public diplomacy

Průchová, Kristýna January 2012 (has links)
Taiwan is still in partial diplomatic isolation. As a small country with a limited share in world affairs is not only limited by his specific requirements, but also to the instruments that are entitled to use. The only way to escape from this situation means expanding the number of diplomatic allies and efforts for integration into international structures. Recommended tools for small state foreign policy used to achieve its objectives, primarily by soft power. Based on the classification of Taiwan as a small state, the recommended instruments are of public and economic diplomacy. They act through creating a positive image of the country abroad and various forms of foreign assistance. Taiwan needs to gather as much support from the general public in different countries. A strong motivation for him is his effort to build its own space and fixed position for national survival and growth in China's shadow. By defining each of the central concepts, integrating Taiwan into the actual facts and the application of selected instruments for Taiwan's foreign policy terms there is built a connection between the small states issue and areas of economic and public diplomacy as soft power tools of Taiwan's foreign policy.

Euro-středomořská politika-perspektivy vývoje. Vliv Španělska a Francie / Euro-Mediterranean Policy-Perspectives of development influence of Spain and France

Bocianová, Kateřina January 2014 (has links)
The dissertation analyses development of Euro-Mediterranean policy since 2006 up to the present. Therefore the work analyses the newest institution Union for the Mediterranean, European Neighborhood Policy, change of institutional framework of the European foreign policy due to the Lisbon Treaty and also reaction of the European Union on the Arab spring and ongoing economic crisis whose impact on the external relation is significant. On the grounds of theoretical definition when on one hand the European Union presents itself as a normative actor (according to constructivist approaches) and on the other hand it pursues its realistic interests the dissertation concludes that this dilemma between normative rhetoric and realistic pursuing of interests leads to ineffective and untrustworthy foreign policy of the European Union in the Mediterranean. Then the dissertation brings comparison between French and Spanish approaches (whose interests are similarly defined in the Mediterranean) for influencing formulation and conduct of the EU foreign policy in this region. After application of the concept of Europeanization there is a conclusion that despite similar interests these two member states use different strategies toward the European level which in the end can bring influence in the European institutions.
