Role prezidenta v zahraniční politice Brazílie (srovnání Luize Inacia Luly da Silvy a Dilmy Roussefové) / The President´s role in the Foreign Policy of Brazil

Melounová, Irena January 2011 (has links)
In recent years, the perception of Brazil in the international arena has changed significantly and the country attracts more and more attention. The key role of the head of state in a presidential political system is reflected in all government agendas, including the foreign policy. Since the 1990s, the Presidents have started to participate more actively in foreign policy decision process, which had been traditionally dominated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the examples of Lula da Silva and Dilma Rousseff and qualify the role of contemporary Brazilian President in foreign policy, and to benefit from the favourable situation when, for the first time in the history of Brazil, the elected candidate was nominated by his predecessor. Therefore it is possible to abstract in the study period (October 2002 to December 2012) from three levels of foreign policy analysis that are considered constant, and so the only factor influencing foreign policy would be a change in the level of the individual. The core is to compare the personalities of presidents and their foreign policy activities which are studied in three dimensions: foreign travel and foreign visits to the country, way of intervening in resolving the crisis and its own foreign policy initiatives in newly highlighted regions and themes.

Master thesis will be focused on the realist approach, which at the same time will help to evaluate Rusian-Chinese relation through the pragmatic realist prism. Analyzing the relations in a global context within further movement to regional one, I will try to experience Sino-Russian relations through different approaches and relying on the balance of power theory. Description of the strategic partnership, supported by the multipolar world view and multilateral diplomacy as the tool for the national interests promotion, the research will move towards bilateral modes estimating security, political and economic relations. All in all, the conclusion will be made in order to predict the future of the Russian-Chinese relations and results which both countries have achieved by now.

Preventivní diplomacie a její pojetí v regionu jihovýchodní Asie / Preventive Diplomacy and its Concept in the Region of Southeast Asia

Suchánek, Michal January 2010 (has links)
The dissertation is devoted to the notion of preventive diplomacy. In the first part, various theoretical approaches to the term are discussed, especially regarding the position of preventive diplomacy in the cycle of conflict, and its instruments. A brief overview of regional arrangements and their role in preventive diplomacy is provided, too, since the second main part of the work focuses on the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) and its proclaimed intention to introduce preventive diplomacy in the region. Nonetheless, as the study shows, the ARF participants have not yet resorted to the development of preventive diplomacy. The objective of the dissertation is twofold: besides providing a synthesis and systemization of theoretical approaches to preventive diplomacy, it aims to identify the main obstacles hindering the ARF to implement effective measures of preventive diplomacy. In this respect, it is argued that it is both the set of norms also known as ASEAN Way and the Chinese negative stance that constitute the major reason of ARF's inability to proceed to the stage of preventive diplomacy.

Neužilová, Lucie January 2016 (has links)
The subject of the thesis is to formulate the methodology of work with different types of sources for the study of diplomacy in the Middle Ages. In the first part, the author defines the essential terminology : medieval diplomacy and diplomatic deed. The basis of sources is divided into categories according to the types of documents and for each group, a procedure of analysis is determined. The sources are always defined, classified and the state of their preservation is assessed. On the basis of the aforsaid evaluation, a suitable methodology for the analysis of medieval diplomacy is apropriated to every category of sources. The last part of the thesis is dedicated to the study of the "staff of diplomacy", i.e. envoys, whose analysis allows to show the use of methodological approches to different sources for one scientific question.
