Veřejná diplomacie Velké Británie, Německa a Francie v České republice s přihlédnutím k otázce Evropské unie / Public diplomacy of Great Britain, Germany, and France in the Czech Republic taking into account the question of the European UnionBlažková, Adéla January 2020 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with public diplomacy of France, Great Britain, and Germany in the Czech Republic. Based on the theoretical parts, two models of public diplomacy are formulated. The main criteria for the division of the models are the goals of public diplomacy. The first one is a model of promoting a positive image of a state abroad that is used for improving the image of the state in front of the foreign public. In the case of the second model, states can use the interests of public diplomacy to actively promote the values and views of the state that uses public diplomacy. After the presentation of public diplomacy organisations of the selected states and the historical development of their activities in the Czech Republic, an analysis was performed based on data collected from social networks, websites, and interviews with several representatives of public diplomacy. The practices of British, French, and German public diplomacy were categorized based on the goals mentioned within the official documents, the goals of individual public diplomacy institutions, partners, topics, and the tools they use to work the topics. Based on the analysis, none of the public diplomacy of the selected countries operating in the Czech Republic can be assigned a model of promoting values.

The purpose of this thesis is to highlight the multi-component conception of the power in the international relations. The military and material power is not a sufficient element in order to apply the influence in the contemporary international political environment. It will point out the reality that in the international relations there are situated the political approaches that lead to the opportunity to be perceived in a positive way by other actors within the international relations. The final impact of these activities is to reach the convenient political environment in order to apply the own political interests and preferences of the state. This opportunity is fulfilled by the wielding of "soft power" and by, for these objectives defined, instruments. The aim of this thesis is to take hold of the one of the most complex instrument that is used for the intentions that were mentioned above. It is the public and cultural diplomacy. "Soft power" and its instrument in the form of public and cultural diplomacy is researched in an objective way in the case of the Czech Republic.

Britsko-hannoverská diplomacie v závěrečných letech Velké severní války, 1714-1721 / The British-Hannoverian Diplomacy in the Final Years of the Great Northern War, 1714-1721Rašín, Milan January 2013 (has links)
The war had scourged North-eastern Europe for almost 14 years. In 1714 the elector of Hannover George succeeded to the British throne and the Swedish king Charles XII returned home from his Ottoman exile. His presence led his enemies to attack the remnants of Sweden's provinces. The attack was successful, but their further plan for an invasion into southern Sweden was called off by tsar Peter I what caused the split of the northern alliance into one part led by George and the other one under Peter's command. The Swedish king tried hard to exploit this situation in an attempt to improve his position, nevertheless this policy ended by his death in 1718 and a new diplomatic course led to the conclusion of the war.

The aim of this thesis is to examine the foreign relations between Czechoslovakia and the United States of America during the second decade of the twentieth century. Particular attention is focused on the Czechoslovak effort to build a close relationship with the United States, an endeavor which resulted from the previous generous support, as many contemporaries believed, the United States provided to the Czechoslovak movement for independency during the World War I. The major objective of this study is thus to present evidence that Czechoslovak diplomacy intentionally pursued the vision of a stronger, above average bond with the United States. Furthermore, it attempts to assess to which extent was the Czechoslovak policy successful and which limitations it had to face. In this effort, the thesis mainly draws on extensive study of the archive materials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
