A Study of the Campus Recreation at Utah State Agricultural College

The importance and growth of campus recreation is being felt by leaders throughout the country. Daniels (2, p. 38) summarizes the importance of the total organism in modern education as follows: "Ample justification for a consideration of, the problem of recreation may be found in the latest and most authoritative literature in the field of educat1on, as well as in a direct study of conditions found on many college campuses throughout the country. Rooted firmly in the philosophy of modern educatlon is the thought that the total organism must be given the opportunity for experiences of an all-round nature, with these experiences based on the social and biological needs which enable an individual to live most successfully in relation to his particular social group." Acceptance of this philosophy implies the responsibility of devising ways and means whereby campus recreation purposes may be achieved. By no manner of reasoning can such purposes be realized without due consideration of, and provision for, opportunities in a wide range of recreational activities, such as crafts, music, nature, dramatics, sports, and games. Furthermore, these opportunities must be made available to all students and not merely the most talented and highly trained.

The study is concerned with the ISO/IWA2 international education quality management and the application in the student affairs & guidance in friendly campus in Kaohsiung. With the views of installing the ISO/IWA2, and combining the present situation of the student affairs & guidance in friendly campus, I construct Kaohsiung municipal Ying-Ming junior high school student affairs & guidance quality management system. And then through analyzing the suitability and feasible assessment, in order to understand if it is applicable with the student affairs & guidance in junior high schools in Kaohsiung. Thus, the strategy used in this research is via combining the subjects concerned qualitative research and quantitative approaches. The process of such study includes: subject analysis, process design, make prove, questionnaire investigation and statistical analysis. Digest the conclusion of this research and state as follows now: 1. The progress of student affairs & guidance links the era of thought closely, grows with each passing hour. 2. The standard and the application of the ISO/IWA2 international education quality management can be in accordance with the rules in use. 3. Kaohsiung municipal Ying-Ming junior high school student affairs & guidance quality management system is constructed by way of PDCA. It is three sub operating systems altogether, includes ten items of the procedure. 4. The staffs of counseling section in junior high schools in Kaohsiung view Kaohsiung municipal Ying-Ming junior high school student affairs & guidance quality management system as suitable and feasible. According to the result of the study, I propose with two suggestions, and expect to be able to let the execution of the friendly campus have benefits even more through the leader and push of the educational administrative organ. 1. Deployment of Low Interaction Honeypots in University Campus Network

Large scale networks face daily thousands of network attacks. No matter the strength of the existing security defending mechanisms, these networks remain vulnerable, as new tools and techniques are being constantly developed by hackers. A new promising technology that lures the attackers in order to monitor their malicious activities and divulge their intentions is emerging with Virtual Honeypots. In the present thesis, we examine an extensive security mechanism based on three different open source low interaction honeypots. We implement this mechanism at our university campus network in an attempt to identify the potential threats and methods used against our network. The data gathered by our honeypots reveal valuable information regarding the types of attacks, the vulnerable network services within the network and the malicious activities launched by attackers.

One Church in One Location: Questioning the Biblical, Theological, and Historical Claims of the Multi-Site Church Movement

This dissertation argues that a multi-site church that is not characterized by campus-wide gatherings does not have a sound biblical or theological basis for considering itself one church and is inconsistent with historic congregationalism. This argument is made in six steps. First, a framework for determining whether or not a church practice is biblical is put forward. Second, it is shown that the people of God as one assembly is a central theme in the Old Testament. Third, it is demonstrated that this theme of the people of God as one assembly is also a central theme of the New Testament. Fourth, it is argued that there is not precedent for multi-site church structure in the house churches of the New Testament. Fifth, it is shown that multi-site is not consistent with historic congregationalism as seen in Baptist ecclesiology. And sixth, it is argued that multi-site church structure is consistent with historic connectionalism as seen, for example, in Methodist ecclesiogy--a fact that only serves to heighten the problem with multi-site from a congregationalist point of view.

A Study of Operation and Off-Campus Performing Phenomenon Given by the Music Talented Class of Senior High School:Focus on Cases of Seven Schools in Southern Taiwan

Abstract This study applies qualitative and quantitative research to investigate the relationship and effects off-campus performances have on students, teaching activities, school administration, and social education. Data was collected in the form of questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaires targeted the 2nd and part of first and third graders of music-talented classes of the seven senior high schools in southern Taiwan. Besides, interviews of teachers and administrators were given to compare each school¡¦s performance styles so as to research the phenomenon of off-campus concerts and operation. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Students¡¦ recognition and satisfaction towards off-campus performances are in direct ratio with students¡¦ involvement 2. Excellent off-campus concerts represent successful music instruction while successful music instruction reflect directly on high performance level at concerts 3. Off-campus performances should be supported by school administration, while school administration exhibits its function in the performances. 4. The styles and repertoires of off-campus concerts manifest each school¡¦s genre. 5. Off-campus concerts function as social education through student appreciation, demonstration and involvement. 6. Each of the seven targeted schools has unique characteristics in off-campus performances and instruction. It is the intention of this study to pose suggestions for the reference of teaching activities, administrators, and concerts of music-talented class. The Promotion of Computerization in Universities

Abstract With the rapid development of internet and information technology, the era of automation and computerization of business has dawned. Consequently, electronic-business has become the key factor of competitive strength of the global business in the 21st century. In order to easily acquire information on business, simplify the work procedure, and improve efficiency, e-commerce should be promoted by the integration of information technology and network infrastructure so that the competitive strength of business can be enhanced. Under the influence of the computerization of business and government, the trend of e-campus has been growing in colleges and universities, and has become the principal focus of administration, teaching, research, student life, and learning environment on campus. I interviewed several professors and officers who are in charge of computerization in their universities, to understand the meaning, purpose, process, problems, and key factors of e-campus. The results of the interviews are sorted as follows: 1. E-campus can be defined as the transformation of the school by which the efficiency of administration system, the e-learning environment for students, and the teaching and research environment for teachers will be improved to increase the competitive strength. 2. The purposes of e-campus are: (1) to provide services and information for faculty and students, (2) to simplify the document flow charts for high efficiency, productivity, downsizing, competitive strength, and low cost, (3) to equip students with the concepts and application of computerization for job creation, (4) to collect the campus information for management decision, and (5) to save energy and protect the environment. 3. E-campus should be proceeded in proper sequence¡Xfrom the simple to the complex and from the higher level to the lower level. The process has to be planned precisely, and the results be checked cautiously to assure the achievement of the goal. Therefore, it is necessary to establish an e-campus team for planning and administering. 4. The problems caused in the process are as follows--personal problems (such as age), changes of the organization, selection of software and hardware, equipments, net connection between campuses, and research and development for the new systems. 5. It is very difficult to measure the results of e-campus in quantity, but part of them are predictable, for example, the process time will be shortened, and the efficiency will be raised. 6. The key factors of e-campus can be classified into eight items, and six of them are in accordance with those of e-business. They are (1) professional team work for promotion, (2) participation and innovation of the members of organizations, (3) training of professionals, (4) establishment of a pilot unit, (5) reference to actually successful examples, and (6) methods and strategies to reach the goal and to satisfy the needs of the faculty and staff members. The other two differences between them are the support and insistence of managers and the continuous implementation. 7. The installation of objectives, planning and design, application of information technology are the essential points for attention. The safety of data deserves alertness because hackers and computer viruses will destroy the entire systems. Key words: e-campus, information technology, computerization, Internet, key success factor
