Identificação de adesinas bacterianas por phage display. / Identification of bacterial adhesins through phage display.

Ana Tung Ching Ching 03 December 2012 (has links)
Leptospirosis is a worldwide important zoonosis caused by bacteria of the genus Leptospira. In Brazil, most cases is caused by L. interrogans serovar Copenhageni. Our goal was to identify leptospiras adhesins by phage display technique. Libraries of genomic fragments resulted in the identification of ligands with affinity for leptospiras hamster tissues. Screening these libraries against heparan sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG) identified the proteins LigA and LigB. Recombinant proteins were produced and subjected to binding to mammalian cells and extracellular matrix components. LigB recombinant was able to bind to HSPG, heparin and mammalian cells. HSPG and heparin were able to significantly reduce the interaction of this protein with cells. These results highlight the role of leptospiras proteins in its interaction with the host and illustrate the possibility of the use of phage display technique to identify potential adhesins.

OSPREY: Person Re-Identification in the sport of Padel : Utilizing One-Shot Person Re-identification with locally aware transformers to improve tracking

Svensson, Måns, Hult, Jim January 2022 (has links)
This thesis is concerned with the topic of person re-identification. Many tracking algorithms today cannot keep track of players reentering the scene from different angles and times. Therefore, in this thesis, current literature is explored to gather information about the topic, and a current state-of-the-art model is tested. The person re-identification techniques will be applied to Padel games due to the collaboration with PadelPlay AB. The purpose of the thesis is to keep track of players during full matches of Padel with correct identities. To this, a current state-of-the-art model is applied to an existing tracking algorithm to enhance its capabilities.  Furthermore, the purpose is broken down into two research questions. Firstly, how well does an existing person re-id model perform on Padel matches when it comes to keeping a consistent and accurate id on all players. Secondly, how can this model be improved upon to perform better in the new domain, being the sport of Padel? To be able to answer the research questions, a Padel dataset is created for benchmarking purposes. The state-of-the-art model is tested on the new dataset to see how it handles a new domain. Additionally, the same state-of-the-art model is retrained on the Padel dataset to answer the second research question.  The results show that the state-of-the-art model that is previously trained on the Market-1501 dataset is highly generalizable on the Padel dataset and performs closely to the new model that is purely trained on the Padel dataset. Although they perform alike, the new model trained on the Padel dataset is slightly better as seen through both the quantitative and qualitative evaluations. Furthermore, the application of re-identification technology to keep track of players yielded significantly higher results than conventional solutions such as YOLOv5 with Deepsort.

Designing a Voice Controlled Interface For Radio : Guidelines for The First Generation of Voice Controlled Public Radio / Utforming Av Ett Röststyrt Gränssnitt för Radio : Riktlinjer för Den Första Generationen av Röststyrd Public Service-Radio

Päärni, Anna January 2017 (has links)
From being a fictional element in sci-fi, voice control has become a reality, with inventions such as Apple's Siri, and interactive voice response (IVR) when calling your doctor's office. The combination of radio’s strength as a hands-free medium, public radio’s mission to reach across all platforms and the rise of voice makes up a relevant intersection; voice controlled public radio in Sweden. This thesis has aimed to investigate how radio listeners wish to interact using voice control to listen to on-demand radio content. Additionally, what does public radio need to consider when implementing the UX for voice control? A questionnaire, Google Analytics-data from Sveriges Radio’s mobile app and website, and an interview with National Public Radio were used to determine four initial functions voice controlled on-demand. The functions were turned into four scenarios, used as the basis for a workshop and brainstorming session. Three of these scenarios were then selected to be the foundation for a Wizard of Oz-prototype, which six users evaluated. The results indicate that to create a viable voice user interface (VUI) for radio, there needs to be a profile for the user to create a personalized experience, with filtered searches created by user behaviour and preference settings. The VUI also needs to allow synonyms for program names, as well as keyword tag material for clustering similar material and to enable personalized user searches. This keyword-system can further be utilized to give user recommendations based on behaviour and preferences. A companion application with a graphical user interface (GUI) can be used for such functionality as settings, help, queuing and creating playlists. Finally, the system needs to ensure that the users are taken care of and guided. A radio host can be used as a basis for the system's persona, to create a consistent and familiar interface. Aspects to examine in the future are more extensive user testing for the VUI design, filter bubbles, ensuring that the user data is not misused or leaked, dimensions of the system's persona, the future of radio and the progress of IPAs.
