Oprea, Alina Daniela January 2013 (has links)
The aim of this papper is to investigate how spanish teacher understand the concept of Sustainable Development and how they implement the Education for Sustainable Development in their lessons. For this purpose we have used two different methods: the first was to analyze Swedish school policy documents (Education Act, Lgr 11 and Lgy 11) to see if they promote the Education for Sustainable Development in foreign language classes. The second was to analyze the perceptions of the teachers in terms of understanding and application of Sustainable Development in their teaching. A questionnaire study was conducted with 12 spanish teachers representing 11 secondary- and high schools in Växjö. The questionnaire contains 8 questions about personal information, 3 open questions about understanding of Education for Sustainable Development and 27 affirmations about Sustainable Development which measure teacher´s levels of agreement or disagreement (Likert ordinal scale). The results showes that Swedish school policy documents don´t make it clear that teacher in general and spanish teacher in particular have to educate for Sustainable Development (in the Education Act the words 'sustainable development' are not even mentioned). They also showes that 58 % of the teachers implemet in their teaching the Sustainable Development; 100 % of the teachers consider the lack of knowledge, the lack och time and the irrelevance of Sustainable Development in the spanish lessons as factors who difficult the Education for Sustainable Development; 92 % of the teachers would like to get more education about how to educate for Sustainable Development.

Evolução do setor elétrico paulista / Evolution of electric sector in São Paulo

Iannone, Roberto Antonio 13 December 2006 (has links)
The major of the question has been the privatization and the way as the institutional reform of a strategic sector and of essential public service sector was made. The question is considered complex, since the sector has single characteristics and the electricity is a capital with very specific peculiarities. The previous model under which had been developed the electric Brazilian sector and, in particular, the native of São Paulo, from decade of 1960, state in it\'s almost totality, started to be demolished is not viable anymore. Teaching information literacy skills. A comparative analysis : Teachers’ understanding of information literacy in Norway and Hungary / Undervisning i informationskompetens.

Katalin Bordasne Tako, Tasno January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this Master’s thesis is to examine how teachers of primary school students view the concept of information literacy and their classroom practices related to this subject. In addition, the study was designed to compare teachers’ understanding of information literacy in two European countries, Norway and Hungary. In spite of the fact that both countries are European developed countries with a similar culture and educational purposes, the economic difference can affect their possibilities to profit from the rapidly developing internet and information technologies. This study investigates the assumption that the differences between teachers’ answers in the two countries will be more and more significant on each further step of Van Dijk’s model of access: motivational, material, skills, and usage access. The study has a socio-economic perspective and the empirical data was collected through quantitative web-based questionnaire. The findings indicate that most of the teachers have a good understanding of the concept of information literacy and they are aware of the importance of information literacy skills to some level. Exploring the teachers’ classroom practices, I found that they do teach information literacy skills, and they do have classroom practices which can facilitate the improvement of information literacy skills, but there is a difference between the Norwegian and Hungarian teachers’ practices. The findings of the study confirm my initial assumption and are consistent with the pattern that I would expect to find according to the Van Dijk’s model, and thus, with the influence of the socio-economic features on teachers’ view on information literacy and their classroom practices related to teaching information literacy skills.

Creativity Management in Creative Organizations : The Economic versus Creative Perspective

Holliday, Kayla, Brorsson, Mårten January 2023 (has links)
For businesses that rely on creativity for their success, its effective and thought-out management is necessary for the entity to thrive. The field of creativity management has emerged as a result, highlighting the employment of a ‘creative climate,’ motivational tools, and an appropriate organizational structure as essentials for the asset’s optimization (Dubina, 2013, Sternberg and Lubart, 2004, Tonnquist, 2018, Csikszentmihalyi and Wolfe, 2014, Karambayya and Reid, 2009). However, the current literature fails to address how outside factors may influence the effectiveness of creativity management’s employment, such as the financial and organizational obligations of an operation (Knight and Harvey, 2015). Creative organizations, in particular, are affected by this issue, as the success of their end-product lies directly in their ability to harness creativity effectively (Jones et al., 2016). The aim of the study is therefore to understand how executives within creative organizations attempt to maximize creativity, while continuing to heed exterior business initiatives. The following investigation has attempted to tackle the subject by exploring it through the lens of the film production process. We pose the question: What are the conflicts that arise between an economic outlook and a creative outlook on a film, and how has this power struggle been managed? Semi-structured interviews were conducted with industry professionals, with producer and director pairs representing the two perspectives, respectively. We find that the two primary points of contention are the intrusive measures enforced by producers for ‘profitability’ and ‘scheduling & budget control,’ which often lie in direct contrast to a project’s creative vision (Bérubé & Demers, 2019, Knight and Harvey, 2015, Senge, 1990). We then identify three winning strategies employed by the consulted professionals to handle these conflicts: clear communication on financial and organizational boundaries from the planning phase, an established relationship of trust between the artistic and managerial leader, and a capacity for empathy with the competing perspective. These principles should support and contribute to the existing knowledge on creativity management, in identifying where it may be challenged, and suggesting methods for conflict minimization. It has laid the ground for future studies within this domain of creativity management, by opening up room for research in other creative industries that may share these same challenges, to confirm the findings.

O olhar estrangeiro em São Paulo até meados dos oitocentos: relatos de viajantes ingleses e norte-americanos / The foreign look in são Paulo until mid 1800\'s: reports of english travelers and noth americans

Gerbovic, Tathiane 20 January 2010 (has links)
Throughout the nineteenth century, the Captaincy and Province of São Paulo were visited by English and American travelers. He remained in the Province from 1861 to 1868. Different purposes motivated the journey of these travelers to São Paulo. In spite of their many differences, the study of their travel narratives reveals a common economic and utilitarian perspective on São Paulo, which includes monetary values and possible uses of the visited areas. Said travelers had a cultural background based on the importance of disciplined work, rational use of time, production maximization in order to increase profits and interest in technical innovations. The aforementioned travelers described the different forms of relationship with labor and time from the utilitarian perspective, thereby considering the general behavior of the slaves and poor free men different from what they deemed adequate. Such behavior was regarded as idleness. This study focuses on the understanding of this perspective in the travelers journals.

Cost Modelling and Decision Making Model Generation for Urban Rail Transport Systems : MSc. thesis in collaboration with Trafikförvaltningen

Gökmen Dursun, Zekeriya January 2024 (has links)
Urban rail transport systems play a vital role in providing efficient and sustainable mobility solutions for growing metropolitan areas. This thesis focuses on the case of Stockholm's urban rail transport, managed by Region Stockholm, which serves nearly 900,000 daily passengers amid rapid population growth. However, the aging power supply system poses challenges to the system's efficiency and capacity expansion. To address these issues, this study develops cost modeling and decision-making tools aimed at evaluating future energy-saving business cases within the urban rail transport system. These tools, though preliminary, provide decision-makers with a techno-economic perspective to compare the cost-effectiveness of various measures and inform future interventions. The research methodology involves a system engineering approach, with continuous collaboration between the academic institution (KTH), transport authority (TF), and industrial partner (MTR). Weekly meetings facilitated the understanding of the urban rail transport system and the development of a decision-making algorithm. The study identifies stakeholders, primarily TF and passengers, and outlines a decision-making framework to assess proposed business cases. The tools generated undergo validation through expert feedback, laying the foundation for future empirical testing. Key findings highlight two main methods for energy-saving measures: technological modifications (e.g., Energy Storage Systems - ESS) and operational adjustments. Both On board and Wayside ESS installations demonstrate significant energy-saving potential, while operational adjustments such as HVAC modifications present challenges in automation. Qualitative reviews were made on these measures. The thesis proposes a preliminary Decision Making Tool to quantify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and facilitate informed decision making. Future work includes expanding stakeholder inclusion, refining cost models, and integrating additional business cases into the decision-making framework. In conclusion, this thesis contributes to the understanding of cost-effective measures for enhancing energy efficiency within urban rail transport systems. The developed tools offer an initial approach for decision-makers to navigate complex trade-offs and prioritize interventions, ultimately contributing to the sustainability and resilience of urban mobility infrastructure.
