Roman Mlejnek Music and Emotions: Psychological Aspects with Regard to the Origin and Evolution of Music Dissertation thesis Abstract Music and emotion is of deep interest in today's research in many different disciplines. This thesis summarizes contemporary knowledge of emotion and analyses music's related phenomena which could enlighten the importance of emotionality (sound, speech, play, movement). Interindividual differences are discussed mainly with regard to musicality. Selected problems (especially from music aesthetics and music theory) are commented from the point of view of contemporary psychology. In the first place, this thesis notices common psychological mechanisms working in music of different types, times and cultures. Special consideration is devoted to the question of the origins of music and it's evolutionary basis. The thesis includes two empirical studies based on questionnaire surveys. The first one explores Janáček's collection of speech melodies with regard to it's potential as research stimuli for research in music and speech. The second one deals with physically experienced reactions and is focussed on musicians and their differences to non- musicians. Key words: music, emotion, origins of music

The dissertation deals with the psychological training of swimmers from the Jihlava junior swimming club, who regularly take part in top swimming events. The theoretical part describes the mental processes in sport, personality traits, sport training, optimizing of psychophysiological conditions of performance, psychological training of swimmers. The research part searched the initial state of psychological readiness of the group and designed the intervention program, which was subsequently processed. Research participants neither were engaged in psychological training, nor had any information about it. Some of them suffer from pre-start nervousness and they reveal a high level of activation together with physiological manifestations that can affect the results of the race. The intervention program was designed so as to compensate these effects and to optimally tune, concentrate and motivate the swimmer. The knowledge of psychological training was improved and its importance was increased.

The dissertation dwells on problems of aromatherapeutic methods connected to psychological side of human, focuses on the comparison of classic and aromatherapeutic massage techniques and their influence on psychological regeneration, when women were chosen as the aim group. We can find in it a comprehensive knowledge of classic massage on the one hand, but as well as aromatherapy - it's history, definition and impacts. The indispensable part of that work is the characterization of terms related to psychological side of human, specifically with women going through menopause. I show in my work the possibility of application of aromatherapy in the context of spiritual regeneration of women. It happened to them irreplaceable and regular therapy and gained at each kind of anchoring in their lives.

The aim of this thesis was to investigate how does child's age affect the identification and categorization of audio and audio-visual recordings of dog barks expressing the emotion of anger, sadness and happiness. The key importance was in to reveal in what age is the child able to distinguish safely among dog's emotions and the situations during which the recordings were taken. Moreover, the study also researches in what age is the child able to match the typical expressions of the human's facial muscles. The study also aimed to research the influence of gender, experience with the dog and type of the recording (audio/video) on respondent's final decision. 265 children from nursery and primary schools in the age of 4 to 12 years were included in the study. The same version of the questionnaire was given to all of the respondents and every one of them evaluated identical recordings. The questionnaire and secondary material were arranged in the form of illustrations and coloured codes due to the lower age limit of children. It has been shown that age and type of emotion captured in the recording played important role when children were identifying and categorizing them. The aim of this master´s thesis is to analyse the application of emotions in TV advertisement. The theoretical part is focusing on importace of emotions for human and its impact on consumer behavior. The thesis also describes the emotions and its use in marketing communication. Thesis also explains how to built positive association with brand through the emotions, moreover the methods how to measure the emotions. The practical part of the thesis is focusing on content analysis of TV advertisement. The analysis introduces some of the product cathegories. The aim of this analysis is to confirm or reject the hypotesis that given product cathegories use the same emotional appeals. Subsequent research determines, if the emotional appeal is really functional and how the respondents are influenced by TV advertisement.

This paper explains the concept of emotion, emotion dimension and how emotions relate to the central nervous system. Additionally, there is research that were the inspiration for this work, the basic types of emotions and their physiological responses. The following are ways to monitor signals caused by emotions. The practical part deals with the sensing signals from the periphery of the body, specifically the EDA, EMG, EOG and PPG. As stimuli to elicit these signals were used photography, music and film. The signals were processed using the program developed in Matlab. Program specific values obtained were statistically analysed.
