Zanini, Talise Valduga 21 June 2007 (has links)
The present exploratory study has the objective to make a comparative analysis between two Brazilian grape and wine growing regions: Vale dos Vinhedos (RS) and Vale do São Francisco (BA/PE), taking into consideration their geographical characteristics, their grape and wine growing activities, their tourist attractions and the motivation of the tourists who visit each destination. The issue fostering this paper was whether the motivation of tourists in each region was related to wine and its context. To carry out this research diferent instruments were used to collect qualitative data such as open interviews, and quantitative data such as survey, in order to analyze the motivation of the tourists. The joined results allow to infer that in Vale dos Vinhedos, the motivation of tourists is related to wine, and this region can already be considered a consolidated wine tourism destination. On the other hand, in Vale do São Francisco, the motivation of tourists is related to common aspects to all types of tourism, and in less intensity to the reasons regarding wine. This comparative study allowed to evaluate the great geographical and sociocultural diversity, and also related to the wine tourism phenomenon of both regions. While in Vale dos Vinhedos the grape and wine growing model and, consequently, wine tourism is similar to traditional worldwide regions, Valley do San Francisco is consolidated as atypical exotic region, by virtue of its tropical climate and methods of grape growing. The plurality of its wine regions, as long as properly managed, can be a factor of differentiation for Brazil, in the worldwide wine scene.
