[pt] Nascido sob o signo da ruptura e no meio de um turbulento período de transformações pelo qual passava o gênero samba, na virada da década de 1920 para a década de 1930, o samba- enredo surge, e se confunde, junto com um novo estilo de samba que passa a responder às necessidades exigidas por uma nova forma de expressão estética do samba e do carnaval, o desfile dos blocos (mais tarde escolas de samba). Entendendo, então, o samba-enredo como uma construção ligada diretamente ao carnaval e ao seu par, a escola de samba, e ainda como portador de uma linguagem específica, vinculada a uma cultura própria, observamos que ao longo de sua existência, mais notadamente nas últimas décadas, este samba vem se descaracterizando em sua forma e conteúdo. Dentro deste contexto é objetivo central desta dissertação buscar as prováveis origens destas transformações e comprovar até que ponto elas se constituem num processo de crise que pode levar ao desaparecimento do sambaenredo, pelo menos na sua forma mais tradicional. / [en] Been born under the sign of the rupture and in the way of a turbulent period of transformations for which it passed the sort samba, in the turn of the decade of 1920 for the decade of 1930, the samba-enredo appears, and it confuses, with a new style of samba that starts to answer to the necessities demanded for a new form of aesthetic expression of the samba and the carnival, the parade of the blocks (later samba schools). Understanding, then, the samba-enredo as a construction directly to the carnival and its pair, the samba school, and still as carrying of a specific language, tied with a proper culture, we observe that throughout its existence, principally in the last decades, this samba comes depriving of characteristics in its form and content. Inside of this context the central objective of this work is to search the probable origins of these transformations and to prove until point they changed themselves into a process of crisis that can lead to the disappearance of the samba-enredo, at least in their traditional form.

A partir da Teoria dos Cronotopos, concebida por Mikhail Bakhtin, esta tese busca mostrar os modos pelos quais a fusão de tempo/espaço determina o enredo e as posturas das personagens em sua interação com o Outro, na obra Os Senhores, de Gonçalo M. Tavares. Vivendo como indivíduos descentrados, segundo lógicas próprias, as personagens também apresentam problemas identitários e de relacionamento com a alteridade. Além disso, por meio da análise dos elementos composicionais dos discursos e do estudo dos protogêneros pretendemos estabelecer o sentido final da obra, conectando-a à realidade do homem contemporâneo. / From the ideas conveyed by Mikhail Bakhtins Theory of Chronotopes, we seek to demonstrate the ways through which the fusion of time/space determines both the plot and the characters postures in their interactions with the alterity, in the series Os Senhores, written by Gonçalo M. Tavares. The fact of living as off-centered individuals, with their peculiar forms of logic, also causes them to present identity and relationship problems with the Other. Besides, through the analysis of the elements which constitute their discourses, parallel to the study of the prototypes, we intend to establish the ultimate meaning of the contents in the stories, connecting them to the contemporary mans reality.

No século XX, o samba se tornou verdadeiro sinônimo de “brasilidade”. Num contexto de afirmação de nacionalismos, o ritmo outrora perseguido pelas autoridades policiais se tornou um símbolo pátrio. Com a fundação das escolas de samba, não só o carnaval muda a sua cara e se torna mais “ordeiro”, mas cria-se um gênero artístico próprio: o desfile de escolas de samba, gênero que desenvolve a sua própria canção, o samba-enredo. Esta pesquisa tem por objetivo esmiuçar os elementos literários/cancionais do samba-enredo, em busca do que o caracteriza como gênero cancional. O estudo sobre o samba-enredo deve estar relacionado ao gênero artístico do qual é indissolúvel. A análise é panorâmica, mas o aprofundamento de corpus se dá a partir das canções produzidas pelas escolas de samba de Porto Alegre no período entre 1976 e 2014. Diante disso, foram montadas unidades de sentido e sistematizados longas durações, ciclos e eventos. / In the twentieth century, the samba has become synonymous with "Brazilianness". In a context of nationalism statement, the pace once chased by the police became an identity symbol. With the foundation of the samba schools, not only the carnival changes its face and becomes more "orderly", but creates its own artistic genre: the parade of samba schools, genre that develops its own song, the samba-song (samba-enredo). This research aims to scrutinize the literary / musical elements of samba, in search of the features as musical genre. The study on the samba-song (samba-enredo) should be related to artistic genre which is indissoluble. The analysis is panoramic, but the corpus of deepening occurs from the songs produced by samba schools of Porto Alegre produced in the period between 1976 and 2014. Thus, meaning units were assembled and systematized long durations, cycles and events.

According to Levy (1999), the new Technologies of the Information and Communication (TIC) are becoming more and more important instruments of our culture and, its use, a concrete way of inclusion and interaction. Murray said (2003, p.17) “The birth of a new media is at the same time stimulant and frightful”, a revolutionary invention as the computer is almost becoming a fascinating history teller. This futurist scene lead us to a necessity of knowing a little bit more about the possibilities that appear each second, investigating its consequences on the human beings. The computer is becoming a powerful representative mean, becoming a new way of media and an indispensable instrument to play games. We observe an accented growth of people that use the computer to play games. The central objective of this research is to investigate and analyze the characteristics of the narratives, the digital environment and the characteristics of hypermedia found in the online games - MMORPG, aiming to study the possibilities of action and participation of the players in the construction of the plot of these narratives. To reach the objective of this work, initially an exploratory research was made, that in such a way aimed to increase the familiarity with the problem, involving this way a bibliographical and theoretical survey on the online games and in the narratives. It was also necessary, the effective participation of the researcher in a MMORPG game, to know, to think, to investigate, to see and to understand the space between lines of the possible narratives of the online games. The game `Priston Tale' was chosen by the author because it allows the participation without any type of payment for the player and it is currently one of the most played game in Brazil. Moreover, it presents as great differential a graphical quality that is not reached by all other games of the type, where the camera modes provides the player 100% of true 3 dimensions experience, approaching each time more the player of the adventure. The research showed that it is possible to construct the plots in the narratives found in the MMORPG, which is a type of online game. However, the options of choice of the players in relation to the type of character, actions and consequently the construction of the narrative plots, are limited by the programming languages used by the developers and inhibit the creation of the authors. Para Murray (2003,p.17) “O nascimento de um novo meio de comunicação é ao mesmo tempo estimulante e assustador”, uma invenção revolucionária como o computador esta prestes a se tornar um fascinante contador de histórias. Este cenário futurista que se desenha leva à necessidade de conhecermos um pouco mais as possibilidades que surgem a cada segundo, investigando seus reflexos sobre os seres humanos. O computador vem se tornando um poderoso meio representativo, se transformando em aparato de comunicação e instrumento indispensável para prática de jogos. Observamos que existe um crescimento bastante acentuado de pessoas que se utilizam dos computadores cada vez mais sofisticados e conectados à Internet para participar dos jogos em rede. O objetivo central desta pesquisa é investigar e analisar as características narrativas, o ambiente digital e as características hipermídia encontradas nos jogos em rede – MMORPG, visando estudar as possibilidades de ação e participação dos jogadores na construção dos enredos dessas narrativas. Para alcançar o objetivo deste trabalho, foi feita inicialmente uma pesquisa exploratória, que visava uma maior familiaridade com o problema, envolvendo desta forma, um levantamento bibliográfico e teórico sobre os jogos em rede e as narrativas. Foi necessária, também, a efetiva participação do pesquisador em um jogo de MMORPG para conhecer, pensar, investigar, ver e entender as entrelinhas das possíveis narrativas dos jogos em rede. O jogo ‘Priston Tale’ foi escolhido pelo autor porque permite a participação sem nenhum tipo de ônus para o jogador e atualmente é um dos jogos com maior número de participantes no Brasil. Além disso, apresenta como grande diferencial uma qualidade gráfica pouco alcançada por outros jogos do tipo, onde os modos de câmera 100% livres permitem uma verdadeira experiência em 3 dimensões, aproximando o jogador cada vez mais da aventura. A pesquisa mostrou que é possível construir os enredos nas narrativas encontradas nos jogos em rede do tipo MMORPG. No entanto, as opções de escolha dos jogadores em relação ao tipo de personagem, ações e consequentemente a construção dos enredos das narrativas, são limitadas pelas linguagens de programação utilizadas pelos desenvolvedores e inibem a criação dos autores. Portanto, cabe a sugestão para uma pesquisa posterior estudar estas limitações impostas pelos computadores e a linguagem de construção dos programas, que acabam influenciando na desistência dos jogadores.

This thesis proposes the samba enredo, a complex narrative composed by Rio de Janeiro samba schools for the annual Carnaval parade, as a vital primary source for understanding the construction of Afro-Brazilian identity in contemporary Brazilian society. Next, I provide an analysis of one specific samba enredo presented by the samba school Unidos da Vila Isabel in the 2012 Rio Carnaval, which portrays the cultural link between Angola and Brazil. I argue that the narrative Vila Isabel constructs is a thoughtful, albeit incomplete, alternative to the more common link drawn between Yoruba culture and Afro-Brazil. Furthermore, I ascertain that this samba enredo, and the academic sources used to compose it, lack a clear definition of the religious dimension of Angolan heritage in Afro-Brazilian culture because they place Central African conversions to Catholicism in the context of slavery and do not cite the impact that Catholicism makes in Angola before the context of slavery and the Diaspora encounter in colonial Brazil.

Esta pesquisa pretende demonstrar as principais transformações da música das escolas de samba do Rio de Janeiro através da transcrição, catalogação e análise de suas estruturas melódicas, harmônicas e formais mais recorrentes. Entre as estruturas analisadas estão as que considerei como características do samba-enredo, as quais são compartilhadas por um grande número de compositores das mais diversas épocas e tendências estilísticas. A partir do seu estudo detalhado, passou-se a reflexões mais amplas relativas à presença do formulismo no processo de composição dos sambistas, o qual pode estar ligado tanto ao modelo oral de pensamento e comportamento ainda existente nas escolas de samba quanto ao fato de o samba-enredo estar inserido em uma lógica capitalista que abarca desde a indústria cultural da qual ele faz parte (gravação de discos, transmissão em rádio e TV) até o próprio modo de escolha das obras que são apresentadas no carnaval. / This research intends to demonstrate the main transformations of the music of the samba schools of Rio de Janeiro through the transcription, cataloging and analysis of its most recurrent melodic, harmonic and formal structures. The analyzed structures include those that I considered as characteristics of samba-enredo, which are used by a large number of composers from diverse epochs and stylistic tendencies. From their detailed study, I examine the presence of formularity in the composition process of the sambistas, which may be related both to the oral model of thinking and behavior that still exists in the samba schools and to the fact that samba-enredo is embedded in a capitalist logic that ranges from the cultural industry it takes part in (disc recording, radio and TV broadcasting) to the way of choosing the works that are presented in the carnival.
