A pesquisa, com título inicial de Errância e Idiorritmia Fotografias, buscou aplicar uma proposta metodológica baseada sobretudo (mas não apenas) no diálogo com as obras LEspace Littéraire, do ensaísta Maurice Blanchot autor no qual a errância é discutida como eixo de uma prática que desconhece seu ponto de chegada e que não abdica de sua força motora irredutível (ainda que por vezes desconhecida) , e com o seminário Comment Vivre Ensemble, de Roland Barthes, em que o termo idiorritmia é empregado para uma discussão sobre a individuação da linguagem. O trabalho procurou aproximar-se dessas considerações teóricas para desenvolver um método ensaístico e prático de produção em fotografia. / Originally titled as Errance and Idiorhythm Photographs, the research looked to apply a methodology mainly based (but not only) in the dialogue with the works LEspace Littéraire, by the essayist Maurice Blanchot in which the author discusses the errance as the axis of a practice that knows your destination and that do not abdicate of its driving and irreducible force (though sometimes unknown) as well as the Roland Barthes seminar Comment Vivre Ensemble, in which the term idiorhythm is introduced to discuss the individuation of the language. This work tried to approach these theoretical considerations to develop an essayistical and practical method of producing.

This study is a close reading of how Shapeshifters (Sophie Vuković, 2017) and Inuti diamanten (Viktor Johansson, 2020) produce social criticism through essayistic forms. Using relevant research and theories on essay film, the first part of this study explores essayistic form in above mentioned films. It demonstrates how the use of voiceover, narrative structure and other filmic forms in Shapeshifters and Inuti diamanten can be described as essayistic. The second part combines the implications of the first part with theories on essayistic form and its capacity of societal critique. It reveals how an essayistic form allows these filmmakers to produce social critique in similar and different ways. Research about essay film is an expanding field of film studies that has become increasingly relevant in our postmodern society. Investigating a more personal, complex and open style of filmmaking, essay film studies offer new ways of making, watching and analyzing film. A shortage of attentiveness to essay film in Swedish film studies has urged this study to expand the research and explore essay filmmaking in contemporary Sweden.

The present thesis aims to describe and, subsequently, analyze the essayistic oeuvre of Aloys Skoumal, focusing on the author's critical engagement. The prerequisite for such an analysis is a thorough research in Skoumal's articles, essays, prologues, epilogues, editorials and reviews, published in newspapers and journals from the mid1920s to the late 1970s. A substantial part of the thesis is the bibliography of articles, various journal contributions, prologues and epilogues by Aloys Skoumal.
