"Man är idrottslärare. Man är lite bohem." : En kvalitativ studie om hur idrottslärare upplever sin arbetsmiljö samt arbetsmiljörelaterade skillnader mellan ett- respektive tvåämnesidrottslärare / ”You are P.E teacher. You are a bit bohemian.” : A qualitative study on how P.E teachers experience their work environment and work environment-related differences between one- and two-subject teachers

Lund, Tilde January 2024 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine how a chosen number of PE teachers experience their work environment couple to physical, psychological, and social aspects. The purpose of this study is also to examine if there are any differences between how a PE teacher with one subject and a PE teacher with two subjects experience their work environment. The study material consists of transcribed interviews with six different respondents who are not dependent of each other. The result of the study confirms what previous research has shown. Based on physical aspects the respondents feel that their work environment involves strain on the voice because of the noise level that PE teachers are exposed to. The respondents also think that being a PE teacher is a physical job which has its pros and cons. Based on psychological aspects the respondents experience that their stress is connected to schedule, mentorship, and the student’s safety. Based on social aspects the respondents believe have tendencies to become isolated if they do not have a colleague who also teaches PE because the PE teachers are often located in another building than the rest of the school. The study does not show any significant differences between PE teachers with one subject and PE teachers with two subjects. Because of this, the study instead shows themes from the interviews that often occurred which can relate to differences between PE teachers with one subject and PE teachers with two subjects. This study´s theoretical framework is KASAM. KASAM is used both while reasoning about PE teachers work environment and while reasoning about distinctions between being a PE teacher with one subject and being a PE teacher with two subjects.
