The research of competitive advantageous factors of small medium enterprise

Hsien, Yi-Tzu 08 July 2003 (has links)
Abstract Small medium enterprise had been the primary contributors to the Economical Miracle in Taiwan in the past decades. Although they had their merits in macro-economy, they could hardly escape the fate of pioneers. Not only had they experienced the hardship and sacrifice but also the probability of transforming into large-size corporations was close to zero. Witnessing the struggle of these businesses, this study is expected to provide some solid suggestions. With which, small medium enterprises could survive the change of the era and the impact of globalization. Hopefully, this study will help in their continuous growth and development. According to the references, we find ¡§lack of resources¡¨ is fatal to those businesses. ¡§Changes in the markets all around¡¨ puts more risk in their operations. Therefore, this study is designed to use the before-mentioned key factors as its major pillars. The analysis has shown that the so-called ¡§lack of resources¡¨ was basically ¡§the absence of strategy-oriented mind¡¨ which was caused by lacking knowledge. The ¡§Strategy Factors¡¨, the focuses of this study, such as Scope of Operation, Managerial Capabilities, Utilization of Resources, Strategic Alliance, and Organizational Abilities, etc. are all based on ¡§Resource Theory¡¨. The research framework of this study is primarily designed as that suggested in ¡§the stable growth cycle of small medium enterprise¡¨,(by Dr. Fong¡K) combined with ¡§the organizing ability of corporations¡¨ and ¡§major strategies of each phase¡¨. As to ¡§sense-making¡¨ learning, this research aims at ¡§the how-to in Entrepreneurship¡¨ and hopes to involve extensive discussions and findings supported by real cases rather than by functionalities. Consequently, this research is expected to offer strategic suggestions with reference value to the businesses in various development phases.

Environmental factors affecting planktonic foraminifera abundance and distribution in the Northeast Gulf of Mexico

Ravula, Sharath Reddy 29 August 2005 (has links)
The shell composition of planktonic foraminifera used in many paleoreconstructions assumes they are accurately representing conditions at the surface/mixed layer. However, planktonic foraminifera are known to inhabit a depth range that extends below the mixed layer. In the present study, foraminifera were collected at discrete depth intervals using a Multiple Opening and Closing Net Environmental Sensing System (MOCNESS) in either cyclonic or anticyclonic eddies that had contrasting environmental conditions. The foraminifera abundances and distributions were compared to the water depth, temperature, density, and chlorophyll profiles. Nine species were found consistently among all the tows and composed at least 96% of the species found, though a shift in the species abundances and depths occurred between eddies. Species occurred where physical factors were compatible with conditions and feeding opportunities they were adapted to. Three species pink and white Globigerinoides ruber and Globigerinoides sacculifer thrived best when a steep density gradient resulted in a shallower mixed-layer that restricted them under more intense light and allowed them to better exploit their algae symbionts. Globigerina bulloides was found outside its sub-polar habitat because the waters of the cyclones were cool enough (less than 26??C) at the same depths that sufficient chlorophyll was available. Two species Orbulina universa, and Globorotalia menardii were consistently absent in the mixed layer, but tracked deeper chlorophyll concentrations. Three other species were found inconsistently among the tows: Hastigerina pelagica, Globigerinella siphonifera, and Globigerinella calida. H. pelagica probably follows chlorophyll concentrations. G. siphonifera, and G. calida have a preference for deeper waters within the photic zone. The drastic doubling to tripling of the foraminifera abundances in cyclones biases downcore reconstructions of sea surface temperature towards cooler conditions. Also, the shift in species composition between the two eddies indicates that in environments where eddies, upwellings, or rings exist may bias the downcore composition of each species towards cooler conditions. G. sacculifer was found to live primarily in the mixed layer and at least 75% of its downcore individuals are expected to represent conditions there. Researchers should consider the described species distributions to better understand the water column conditions they are reconstructing.

In recent years, due to the improvement of living standard and the increase of national income, the market size of department stores has been expanding constantly .In addition to the greater number of development cases, there are many new department stores and shopping malls being built in succession. These situations make department stores confront with gradually increasing challenges. In such competitive environment, these department stores have become so called¡¨ the stronger gets stronger and the weaker gets weaker¡¨. In Taiwan, seventy percent of the total sales in department stores are nearly taken by several groups of department stores, and single business running has become considerably difficult. However, it can be found that HANSHIN DEPARTMENT STORE accounted for almost 37 percent of market sales which was in Kaohsiung in 2005 .Even HANSHIN DEPARTMENT STORE¡¦ s sales got nearly three times as much as that of the second place in Kaohsiung. Although HANSHIN DEPARTMENT STORE lacks abundant resources of chain stores, it can successfully take the sales top of department stores in Kaohsiung .In this case, its business model is worth exploring. Therefore, the object of this research is HANSHIN DEPARTMENT STORE. The purpose of this research is trying to find out the key success factors of how to manage department stores by reviewing relevant literature and making interviews. I hoped that these research results will be useful for department stores to improve development in the future.

The handset is in the modern life individual important along with tool, Analogies is fifth media after by newspaper, broadcast, television, and network, also becomes the individual¡¦s continues screen outside the television and computer. According to the market research of investigation forecast, to 2010 year's end, the whole world will have 1.2 hundred million above handsets users receive mobile TV service which clearly approve the great future development of " the mobile TV ". However, the population of mobile TV users in Taiwan have not increased as the calculation because of the costly charge . Thus it is important for the mobile TV industry to seriously consider the issue. This paper focus on the mobile TV users . Base on the theory of¡§Uses and Gratification¡¨ , I want to understand what are the motives of the audience of mobile TV and how the motives of mobile TV audience affect their watching behavior .The mobile TV service does not like the traditional television application, so I consider that situation factors may affect the relation of motives and watching behavior. This research adopts questionnaire survey method to collect sample information and the research targets are users of mobile TV . The study finds that the main motives of mobile TV viewers are ¡uinformation searching ¡vand¡uentertainment or pastime¡v.The result of viewing motivations have significant differences between their viewing behaviors, and parts of situation factors have significant differences between the motivations and viewing behaviors¡C
