Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur kvinnor upplever sin sociala position i en mansdominerad supporterkultur som supportrar i Herrallsvenskan. Det centrala är att nå en djupare förståelse för hur kvinnor upplever den manligt dominerade supporterkulturen, vilka erfarenheter de har av interaktion med andra supportrar samt hur det upplever det egna supporterskapet. En kvalitativ metod tillämpades i form av semistrukturerade intervjuer med sju kvinnliga supportrar till AIK, Hammarby IF, Djurgårdens IF, Malmö FF och IFK Göteborg. Det teoretiska ramverket för studien är Randall Collins (2004) teori om interaktionsritualer, Yvonne Hirdmans (1988) teori om genussystemet samt Raewyn Connells (1999) teori om hegemonisk maskulinitet. Studiens resultat visar att kvinnor upplever att fotbollen i allmänhet och supporterskapet i synnerhet har en stor betydelse för deras identitet i form av att det bidrar med gemenskap och gruppsolidaritet. Att vara kvinnlig supporter i en supporterkultur som numerärt domineras av män medför att könet får relevans situationellt för kvinnornas sociala position. Detta företer sig genom att de bemöter begränsningar och maktutövande av manliga supportrar som utmynnade i att de kvinnliga supportrarna behöver tillämpa strategier för att erkännas som ‘riktiga’ supportrar. / The purpose of this essay is to examine how female football supporters experience their social position within the supporter culture surrounding Herrallsvenskan. The focus is to present a deeper understanding of how female supporters experience the male dominated supporter culture, what experience they have of interactions within the culture and how they experience the supportership itself. The study is based on qualitative research, collected using semi-structured interviews with seven female supporters of AIK, Hammarby IF, Djurgårdens IF, Malmö FF and IFK Göteborg. Randall Collins (2004) theory of Interaction ritual chain, Yvonne Hirdmans (1988) theory of the genus system and Raewyn Connells (1999) theory of hegemonic masculinity were applied as a theoretical framework for the study. The result of the study shows that women's experience of football, but the supportership in particular, has a great impact on their identity by contributing with a sense of community and solidarity. In a supporter culture that is numerically dominated by men, the gender situationally becomes relevant for female supporters and their social position. These situations are characterized by restrictions and expressions of power by male supporters, this results in strategies that the female supporters must use to be recognised as real supporters.
