The diploma thesis describes the design of a test stand for experimental determination of vibroacoustic parameters of a part of the powertrain system. Thesis contains a research part, describing the problems of the drive system, vibroacoustics, measuring devices and also the division and the description of test stands. At the same time, the reasons for choosing a closed loop test stand are explained. Thesis also includes the results of analytical calculations and numerical results of FEM methods performed using ANSYS software, as well as drawing documentation of individual parts.

This work deal with troubleshooting of problem parts of high-speed induction machines. Introduction is about conception of induction machines with reference to construction specialities due to high rpm and because machines are fed by inverter. Next part is focused to design problems. A classical induction machine was measured to determination change of various losses in classic and high-speed induction machines. The computation of laboratory sample high-speed motor was specified for calculation of effective resistance and leakage reactance of solid-steel rotor with copper layer. The results of numerical calculation were validated by using finite elements method and machine design was adjusted for improving operation characteristic.

Vliv excentricity na radiální síly v asynchronním motoru / The influence of eccentricity upon the radial forces in an induction motor

The aim of this master thesis is to get familiar with the influence of radial forces in the induction machine. Induction motor is one of the most commonly used and most extended type of machine, therefore it is useful to detect the intensity of theese forces and their influence at operation of the machine. In this work ,radial forces are computed by the software simulation in ANSYS Maxwell. Models are created with help of module Rmxprt and finite elements method.These models are based on real induction motors with predefined size of eccentricity. In the final part we perform a measurement of deviations on the real machine using vibrometer.

A simulation of distribution of a pressure waves was made in an ANSYS application.

Analýza ztrát asynchronních motorů malého výkonu / Losses Analysis of Induction Machines with Small Output Power

The main objects of this doctoral thesis are analysis of a small induction motor losses and research of ways how to reduce losses and increase efficiency of this motor. The ways how to reduce losses and increase efficiency under study are as follow: reduction of stator winding’s resistance, lengthening of magnetic circuit, modification of turn number, cooper squirrel cage, slots shape optimization, sheets annealing and use of sheets with lower specific losses. The losses analysis and the research of ways how to reduce losses are done due to laboratory work. For this laboratory work, eleven different samples of the motor with above mentioned modifications were manufactured. Results of their measurements and losses analysis are presented in this thesis. There were also simulations by finite elements method used to help solve objects of this thesis. Due to the simulations, analysis of loses of the induction motor under study was done. Results of this analysis include some details that are not included in the results from measurement, for example separation of core losses between rotor and stator. The simulations were also used for analysis of manufacturing technology impact onto the motor’s performance. During this analysis, following impacts were considered: actual shape of magnetic circuit, stator’s sheets riveting, influence of cutting onto material’s properties and placement of the stator into conductive frame. Results of this analysis are presented in this thesis.

Progressive collapse simulation of reinforced concrete structures: influence of design and material parameters and investigation of the strain rate effects

This doctoral research work focuses on the simulation of progressive collapse of reinforced concrete structures. It aims at contributing to the ‘alternate load path’ design approach suggested by the General Services Administration (GSA) and the Department of Defense (DoD) of the United States, by providing a detailed yet flexible numerical modelling tool. <p><p>The finite element formulation adopted here is based on a multilevel approach where the response at the structural level is naturally deduced from the behaviour of the constituents (concrete and steel) at the material level. One-dimensional nonlinear constitutive laws are used to model the material response of concrete and steel. These constitutive equations are introduced in a layered beam approach, where the cross-sections of the structural members are discretised through a finite number of layers. This modelling strategy allows deriving physically motivated relationships between generalised stresses and strains at the sectional level. Additionally, a gradual sectional strength degradation can be obtained as a consequence of the progressive failure of the constitutive layers. This means that complex nonlinear sectional responses exhibiting softening can be obtained even for simplified one dimensional constitutive laws for the constituents.<p><p>This numerical formulation is used in dynamic progressive collapse simulations to study the structural response of a multi-storey planar frame subject to a sudden column loss. The versatility of the proposed methodology allows assessing the influence of the main material and design parameters in the structural failure. Furthermore, the effect of particular modelling options of the progressive collapse simulation technique, such as the column removal time or the strategy adopted for the structural verification, can be evaluated.<p><p>The potential strain rate effects on the structural response of reinforced concrete frames are also investigated. To this end, a strain rate dependent material formulation is developed, where the rate effects are introduced in both the concrete and steel constitutive response. These effects are incorporated at the structural level through the multilayered beam approach. In order to assess the degree of rate dependence in progressive collapse, the results of rate dependent simulations are presented and compared to those obtained via the rate independent approach. The influence of certain parameters on the rate dependent structural failure is also studied.<p><p>The differences obtained in terms of progressive failure degree for the considered parametric variations and modelling options are analysed and discussed. The parameters observed to have a major influence on the structural response in a progressive collapse scenario are the ductility of the steel bars, the degree of symmetry and/or continuity of the reinforcement and the column removal time. The results also depend on the strategy considered (GSA vs DoD). The strain rate effects are confirmed to play a significant role in the failure pattern. Based on these observations, general recommendations for the design of progressive collapse resisting structures are finally derived.<p><p><p><p><p>L’effondrement progressif est un sujet de recherche qui a connu un grand développement suite aux événements désastreux qui se sont produits au cours des dernières décennies. Ce phénomène est déclenché par la défaillance soudaine d’un nombre réduit d’éléments porteurs de la structure, qui provoque une propagation en cascade de l’endommagement d’élément en élément jusqu’à affecter une partie importante, voire la totalité de l’ouvrage. Le résultat est donc disproportionné par rapport à la cause. La plupart des codes de construction ont inclus des prescriptions pour le dimensionnement des structures face aux actions accidentelles. Malheureusement, ces procédures se limitent à fournir des ‘règles de bonne pratique’, ou proposent des calculs simplifiés se caractérisant par un manque de détail pour permettre leur mise en oeuvre.<p><p>Cette thèse de doctorat intitulée Simulation de l’Effondrement Progressif des Structures en Béton Armé: Influence des Paramètres Materiaux et de Dimensionnement et Investigation des Effets de Vitesse a pour but de contribuer à la simulation numérique de l’effondrement progressif des structures en béton armé. Une formulation aux éléments finis basée sur une approche multi-échelles a été développée, où la réponse à l’échelle structurale est déduite à partir de la réponse au niveau matériel des constituants (le béton et l’acier). Les sections des éléments structuraux sont divisées en un nombre fini de couches pour lesquelles des lois constitutives unidimensionnelles sont postulées. Cet outil permet une dégradation graduelle de la résistance des sections en béton armé suite à la rupture progressive des couches. Des comportements complexes au niveau des points de Gauss peuvent être ainsi obtenus, et cela même à partir de lois unidimensionnelles pour les constituants.<p><p>Cette formulation est utilisée pour la simulation de l’effondrement progressif d’ossatures 2D, avec prise en compte des effets dynamiques. La versatilité de la présente stratégie numérique permet d’analyser l’influence de différents paramètres matériaux et de dimensionnement, ainsi que d’autres paramètres de modélisation, sur la réponse structurale face à la disparition soudaine d’une colonne.<p><p>Les effets de la vitesse de déformation sur le comportement des matériaux constituants est aussi un sujet d’attention dans ce travail de recherche. Des lois constitutives prenant en compte ces effets sont postulées et incorporées au niveau structural grâce à l’approche multi-couches. Le but est d’étudier l’influence des effets de la vitesse de chargement sur la réponse structurale face à la disparition d’un élément porteur. Les resultats obtenus à l’aide de cette approche avec effets de vitesse sont comparés à ceux obtenus avec des lois indépendantes de la vitesse.<p><p>Les différences dans la réponse à la disparition d’une colonne sont analysées pour les variations paramétriques étudiées. Les paramètres ayant une influence importante sont notamment: la ductilité des matériaux constituants et la disposition et/ou la symétrie des armatures. Les effets de vitesse sont également significatifs. Erweiterung der Verfahrensgrenzen des Flach-Clinchens: Enhancement of the process limitations of flat-clinching

Eines der am häufigsten in der Automobilindustrie eingesetzten mechanischen Fügeverfahren ist das Clinchen, auch Durchsetzfügen genannt. Hierbei werden zwei oder mehr sich überlappende Bleche lokal umgeformt, sodass eine form- und kraftschlüssige Verbindung mit matrizenseitiger Überhöhung entsteht. Eine Sonderform des Clinchens ist das Flach-Clinchen zur Herstellung einseitig ebener Clinch-Verbindungen. Mit dem Ziel, die Verfahrensgrenzen des konventionellen Flach-Clinchens zu erweitern, werden im Rahmen der vorliegenden Arbeit zwei neuartige Verfahrensvarianten des Flach-Clinchens entwickelt. Um die Verbindungsfestigkeit der Flach-Clinch-Verbindung zu erhöhen, wird ein zusätzliches Hilfsfügeelement in den Fügepunkt eingebracht. Dies bewirkt zum einen eine Vergrößerung des Hinterschnittes und daraus resultierend eine erhöhte Belastbarkeit gegenüber Kopfzugbeanspruchung. Zum anderen wird der Fügepunkt durch das zusätzliche Material stabilisiert und folglich die Belastbarkeit gegenüber Scherzugbeanspruchung verbessert. Die zweite Verfahrensvariante beinhaltet die Kombination aus Flach-Clinchen und Kleben zum sogenannten Flach-Clinchkleben. Hierbei dient die mechanische Verbindung hauptsächlich als Fixierhilfe bis zur vollständigen Aushärtung des Klebstoffs. Dies ermöglicht eine direkte Weiterverarbeitung des Bauteils nach dem Fügen und somit eine deutliche Verkürzung der Prozesszeiten. Die Entwicklung des Flach-Clinchens mit Hilfsfügeelement und des Flach-Clinchklebens erfolgt ausschließlich mittels numerischer Simulationen. Die hierbei gewonnenen Erkenntnisse werden anschließend experimentell verifiziert und die Verbindungsfestigkeiten der neuentwickelten Verfahrensvarianten bestimmt. / Clinching is one of the most common used mechanical joining processes in automotive industry. Here, two or more overlapping metal sheets are locally formed so that a form- and force-closed joint with diesided protrusion is established. A special type of clinching is the so-called flat-clinching for the production of one-sided planar joints. Within the framework of this thesis, two novel process variants of flat-clinching are developed for enhancing the process limitations of conventional flat-clinching. For increasing the joint strength, a complementary joining element is inserted into the joint. This causes an enlargement of the interlocking, leading to a higher resistance to cross tension loads. Also, the additional material stabilizes the joint and hence improves the resistance to shear load. The second process variant, adhesive flat-clinching, includes the combination of flat-clinching and adhesive bonding. The metal sheets are fixed by flat-clinching and the final joint strength is achieved after the complete curing of the adhesive. This enables a continuous processing of the component and therefore, the process time can be shortened. The development of flat-clinching using complementary joining elements and adhesive flat-clinching is exclusively carried out by using numerical simulation. The knowledge gained from the simulations is subsequently experimentally proven. Also, the joint strength of the novel process variants is experimentally determined.

Vibrationsflächenförderer bieten höhere Flexibilität bei der Teilehandhabung durch elastische Fasern auf der Förderfläche. Der Materialtransport wird dabei entscheidend durch die Faserverformung beeinflusst. Dieser Beitrag untersucht das Deformationsverhalten von Einzelfasern und Faserbündeln mittels Simulation und Experiment. Die Erkenntnisse ermöglichen die analytische Berechnung der Verformungen in guter Näherung und die Ableitung einer Kalibriermethode zur Charakterisierung unterschiedlicher Faseroberflächen. / Vibratory brush conveyors offer higher flexibility for part handling using elastic fibers on conveyor surfaces. Material transport is hereby decisively affected by fiber deformation. This paper studies the deformation behavior of single fibers as well as bundles with simulation and experiment. The findings enable analytical prediction of deflections in close approximation and deduction of a calibration method to characterize given fiber surfaces.

Modélisation, observation et commande d’une classe d’équations aux dérivées partielles : application aux matériaux semi-transparents / Modeling, analysis and control for a class of partial differential equations : application to thermoforming of semi-transparent materials

Le travail présenté dans ce mémoire nous a permis d’étudier d’un point de vue théorique et numérique le transfert de chaleur couplé par rayonnement et conduction à travers un milieu semi-transparent, gris et non diffusant dans une géométrie multidimensionnelle 2D. Ces deux modes de transfert de chaleur sont décrits par un couplage non linéaire de l’équation de la chaleur non linéaire (CT) et de l’équation du transfert radiatif (ETR). Nous avons présenté des résultats d’existence, d’unicité locale de la solution pour le système couplé avec des conditions aux limites de type Dirichlet homogènes en utilisant le théorème du point fixe de Banach. Par ailleurs, les travaux réalisés nous ont permis de mettre au point un code de calcul qui permet de simuler la température. Nous avons utilisé la quadrature S_N pour la discrétisation angulaire de l’ETR. La discrétisationde l'ETR dans la variable spatiale est effectuée par la méthode de Galerkin discontinue (DG) et en éléments finis pour l'équation de la chaleur non linéaire. Nous avons démontré la convergence du schémanumérique couplé en utilisant la méthode du point fixe discret. Le modèle discret, sous la forme d’équations différentielles ordinairesnon linéaires obtenu après une approximation nous a permis de fairel’analyse et la synthèse d’estimateurs d’état et de lois de commandepour la stabilisation. Grâce à la structure particulière du modèle età l’aide du DMVT. Nous avons proposé un observateur d’ordre réduit.D’autre part nous avons réussi à construire une matrice de gain quiassure la stabilité de l’observateur proposé. Une extension au filtrage $\mathcal{H}_{\infty}$ est également proposée. Une nouvelleinégalité matricielle (LMI) est donnée dans le cas d’une commandebasée observateur. Nous avons étendu à l’approche d’ordre réduit dans le cas de la commande basée observateur et nous avons montré la stabilité sous l’action de la rétroaction. De même une extension au filtrage $\mathcal{H}_{\infty}$ est également proposée. Tous les résultats sont validés par des simulations numériques. / This thesis investigates the theoretical and numerical analysis of coupled radiative conductive heat transfer in a semi-transparent, gray and non-scattering 2D medium. This two heat transfer modes are described by the radiative transfer equation (RTE) and the nonlinear heat equation (NHE). We proved the existence and uniqueness of the solution of coupled systems with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions using the fixed-point theorem. Moreover, we developed a useful algorithm to simulate the temperature in the medium. We used the quadrature $S_{N}$ for the angular discretization of the RTE. The spatial discretization of RTE was made by the discontinuous Galerkin method (DG) and the finite element method for the non-linear heat equation. We have shown the convergence and the stability of the coupled numerical scheme using the discrete fixed point. The discrète model obtained after an approximation allowed us to do the analysis and synthesis of state estimators and feedback control design for stabilization of the system. Thanks to the special structure of the model and using the Differential Mean Value Theorem (DMVT), we proposed a reduced order observer and we construct a gain matrix, which ensures the exponential stability of the proposed observer and guarantees the boundedness of the estimate vector. An extension to $\mathcal{H}_{\infty}$ filtering is also provided. We have extended the reduced order approach in the case of the observer-based controller and we proved the exponential stability under the control feedback law. Similarly, an extension to $\mathcal{H}_{\infty}$ filtering is also provided. The obtained results were validated through several numerical simulations.
