An exploration of Lebanese leadership effects on followers' work and home life integration : a banking sector study

Hachem, Fadi January 2014 (has links)
This thesis examines leaders‘ behaviours differential effects on the work/home balance of their followers through a leader/follower fit perspective. The study explores perceived effects of leader‘s actions on followers‘ work/home balance in a Lebanese context. At the individual/dyad level, this research attempts to integrate these two areas of study. It aims to better understand, Lebanese employees‘ perspectives on the Lebanese leaders‘ practice of leadership in the banking industry and the perceived effect of this practice on the followers‘ work and home boundary management. Based on the adoption of a qualitative exploratory approach, the author conducts thirty semi-structured interviews with five leaders and twenty-five followers in different regions and divisions of the XYZ bank. The dissertation makes several theoretical and empirical contributions. First, boundary theory is empirically extended through the identification of one of the antecedents, i.e., polychronicity, of an individual‘s work/home segmentation/integration preference. Second, boundary theory is developed through the exploration of the Lebanese leaders‘ actions‘ impact on the followers‘ management of their work/home boundaries. Third, the literature on fit between the leader and the follower along different dimensions of interest to them is extended and developed. Fourth, the literature on the Middle East and in Lebanon on specific is enhanced. The implications of the Lebanese context, subject of this study, on the leadership and work/home literature are meaningful. In addition to these contributions, this study helps to surface ―actionable knowledge‖ on how to facilitate an employee‘s struggle to reach a harmony between his work and home life. This search for balance is increasingly sought nowadays as a result of the increase in work-related pressures especially for dual-earners.

Construction of the system of production logistic in supply chain : The fit of manpower and information technology

Lee, Wang-liang 04 July 2008 (has links)
The enterprise battlefield is estate, enterprise is among estate competitiveness manage the success or failure key. Though M. Porter brings forward competition strategy think: Enterprise will be confronted with ¡¥stuck in the middle¡¦ awkward situation if being able to not to choose from cost leadership, differentiation and focus strategy alternative. Afterwards, Porter indicates that in one book "Country Competitive Advantage ": Have a lot of enterprise indeed cost to be led with differentiation use together, and have the fine achievement effect; In other words, if cost leadership and differentiation manage to be used simultaneously, both multiply effect general stronger. In supply chain, the production logistics system must give consideration to cost, quality, deliver achievement effects such as scheduled time and safety; Except taking that cost leadership as target, field delivering customer regard such as scheduled time and safety in quality, is shown differentiation, is also that the tactics planning and management taking supply chain as the lifting competitive advantage competing for unit times middle, entire supply chain planning and management system manages a target. How will the production logistics system of modern enterprise change to adapt to the new tactics plan under give consideration to cost leadership and differentiation strategies? Study is from case study according to Task-Technology Fit Theory originally, produce what logistics management acts as role in development process of knowing the case company supplying chain in estate, manpower includes topic for discussion and method of work encountered by whose especially with information technology complementing each other; Interview studying process is middle, being to permeate a depth mainly, that discusses the collocation relevance document with the viewpoint, arrange out reference pattern of may be for estate's supplying chain construction the system producing a logistics management of having competition. Childbirth studying main observation is limited originally logistics management reality affair, the pad `produces the planning and management' pattern , hopes a modest spur to induce someone to come forward with his valuable contributions with construction, develop so-called ¡¥production logistics¡¦ theory.

The Effect of Technology Compatibility and Faithfulness of Appropriation on the User Satisfaction of EIP.

Ma, Yun-Hong 19 July 2011 (has links)
Along with the rapid and continuing evolution of enterprise computerization, enterprise establishes Enterprise Information Portal (EIP) gradually. The function and property of EIP changing with complicated environment and technology. Thus, the way enterprise adopt and use the EIP will influence enterprise operating and users satisfaction of EIP and the faithfulness of appropriation of information system will influencing user satisfaction. The goal of this research is to find the significant factors that link between the user satisfaction of EIP and faithfulness of appropriation by using diamond model and contingency theory. We combine with three distinct factors of compatibility, including (1) Technology¡VTask Compatibility (2) Technology¡VPeople Compatibility (3) Technology¡VOrganization Compatibility, to build an integrated model. An empirical survey methodology is applied to test the research model and six hypotheses are developed in this study, and then we use PLS to analysis it. The results reveal that Technology¡VTask Compatibility contributes most to the use of EIP. It implies that EIP should fulfill the task needs of users to promote user satisfaction. Moreover, Technology¡VPeople Compatibility implies that it will enhance the user satisfaction if the EIP is more compatible with user past experience and value. We also found that as EIP is more compatible with enterprise needs of tasks, and people, and the way user use EIP is more faithful with the purpose of the designer will promote user satisfaction of EIP.

A Methodology and DSS for ERP Misfit Analysis

Shin, Shin-shing 27 May 2007 (has links)
Commercial off-the-shelf enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems have been adopted by large companies to support their inter- and intra-business processes. Midsize market firms are now investing in ERP systems too. However, research has indicated that about three quarters of attempted ERP projects turned out to be unsuccessful. A common problem encountered in adopting ERP software has been the issue of fit or alignment. This paper presents an ERP misfit analysis methodology, grounded on the task-technology fit theory and cognitive fit theory, for measuring misfits between ERP candidates and enterprise¡¦s requirements in ex-ante implementation. A decision support system prototype embedded the approach has been developed. A usability evaluation is performed on the prototype to demonstrate the approach. With this approach, organizations can more easily and systematically determine where the misfits are and the degree of misfits, thereby reducing the risks in implementing ERP systems. Our research contributes to the practical solution of the problem of misfit analysis.

Användarens upplevelse av digitala och fysiska kommunikationssätt

Gutierrez Cortez, Madeleinne, Sebestyen, Cassandra January 2017 (has links)
In recent years, the use of digital artifacts has increased, giving less space to paper. Previous research illustrates that reading through paper is most popular without any indication that it is actually better with regard to learning. The purpose of the work is therefore to see if there is a difference and similarity between instructions on paper (physical) or screen (digital). The study is based on the theory Cognitive Fit theory shortened CFT. The theory has then been modified to an own model, where the choice between paper and screen has been made through the user experience in learning (E-learning), past experiences, motivation and emotions. These concepts have arisen from CFT as well as previous research and have consequently followed throughout the process. One factor to be found in earlier research and CFT is the issue of the project. The questionnaire has been investigated and answered using methods such as usability testing, where users were able to build two LEGO-models of the same difficulty on the various platforms screen and paper. The usability testing was combined with Emotiv headset, which helped to measure the brain's emotional system. Finally, interviews were conducted in order to be able to share the participants thoughts about the test. The final result showed that some major factors play a part in the choice between screen and paper. Among other things, concepts like experience, motivation and feelings, as well as comparisons and similarities between the two platforms. Half of the participants felt that a physical instruction manual was most common, while the other half considered the digital user manual as common with tutorials and so on. The user tests went as expected, some contradictory feelings emerged unfortunately which could create greater distractions among the participants. A greater extent about this is done in the various sections of the report.

Using a social network environment for information systems group work

Visagie, Sonja 12 May 2011 (has links)
Group work and online discussions are not new terms in education and are important activities for Information Systems students. It has become important because it encourages creative thinking and provides more efficient problem-solving approaches. Online social networking sites, like Facebook, have pedagogical potential and the consideration of its academic application should not be ignored by lecturers or students. The main problem identified in this thesis is that the awareness and application of the emerging pedagogical potential of online social networking sites, like Facebook, especially for the purpose of group work and online discussions, is limited among Information Systems lecturers and students. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of awareness and application of Facebook as an academic tool by Information Systems lecturers and students, and whether it can enhance the learning experience of students, related to the effectiveness of group work and online discussions. The perceptions of both Information Systems lecturers and students were recorded by means of questionnaires and interviews. It was found that most lecturers and students were aware of Facebook’s pedagogical potential. However, the consideration and application of Facebook as an academic tool, by lecturers and students, are limited. From a cultural perspective, it was found that students from a private institution, where no Learning Management System was implemented, as well as black students, showed increased levels of utilisation and performance, in terms of enhanced learning experienced, on the academic groups on Facebook. The researcher developed a model for the academic application of Facebook for Information Systems students, based on the Task-Technology Fit and the Social Software Performance Model theories. This study concludes with the recommendation that Information Systems lecturers and students should become increasingly aware of and consider the pedagogical potential of Facebook as a supplementary tool and with suggestions for future research. / Dissertation (MCom)--University of Pretoria, 2010. / Informatics / unrestricted
