Multi-functional fitness chair for light weight trainer

Fan, Rong, Wu, Peng January 2016 (has links)
Nowadays, physical inactivity has become a global problem. According to the research, about 5.3 million deaths all over the world in 2008 could be attributed to inactivity [1]. However, it is enough to do a little exercise every day to reduce the risk of premature deaths by as much as 30 percent. Due to the increasing working pressure, people do not have enough time to go to gym and do exercises, which means that the design of multi-functional fitness chair is necessary so that people can do exercise at home at any time. There have already been many similar household fitness products in the market, but most of them take up large space and the training part is very simple. In comparison, the multi-function fitness chair designed in this thesis combines several fitness equipment together in one chair, so it would save a lot of space, and yet provides possibility to perform versatile exercise. The product was designed in Autodesk Inventor 2015, and finite element analysis was performed in Inventor 2015 and for checking the strength and safety of the design.

Research, design and testing of a multi-function modular exercise system

Smith, Jonathan D. January 2007 (has links)
The aim of this research was to develop a novel multi-function exercise system for use in a broad range of applications. Market research indicates that the demand for aerobic and anaerobic exercise devices will continue to grow with the introduction of government physical activity guidelines and increased social pressure regarding health related issues. A detailed investigation of the basic exercise science fundamentals and training methodologies was conducted in order to develop a system which would provide efficient and effective training related stimuli for improving fitness. The generation, storage and utilisation of actual and virtual load and velocity profiles for use in the development of original training modes was identified as an important area of the research. The proposed solution utilises an electromechanical programmable motion control system which provides all of the necessary exercise modalities defined in the system specification. This system combines existing industrial servo drive technology with proprietary software and database facilities to provide a step change in functionality, ease of use and safety for all users. Development of these hardware and software elements was supported by the creation of a series of system models at the initial stages of the research using the computer integrated manufacturing open systems architecture (CIMOSA) modelling approach. These diagrams were an invaluable resource during the concept generation and refinement processes and have clearly demonstrated the cross-discipline applications of such formalised modelling techniques. Validation and reliability data collected during prototype testing indicated that the exercise motion generation capabilities and performance measurement facilities were comparable to existing isokinetic dynamometer equipment. Additional subject testing produced results with peak output values and parameter trends which correlated closely to those determined during clinical and academic research. These experimental results suggest that the modular exercise system could be a valuable tool for the collection of research data to be used in support of current and future training theories.

Andersson, Frida January 2023 (has links)
Concept2 is a leading supplier of fitness equipment, including rowing machines, ski machines and exercise bikes. Their products enable fitness training regardless of weather conditions. SkiErg is a ski ergometer used for cardio and strength training for arms, core, and legs. Users include cross-country skiers, general fitness enthusiasts, and CrossFit practitioners. SkiErg comes with a strapless handle that can be replaced with a ski handle. The main challenge is handle-replacement as the current assembly is classed as semi-permanent. The purpose of the project was to create an improved user experience of the Concept2 SkiErg handle and promote social sustainability by focusing on individual needs. The goal was to present a finished concept with one or more physical prototypes consisting of an adaptable handle with technical solutions for different types of users. The work follows a product development process that includes several steps, including market analysis to explore competitors and user needs, concept development, prototype development and user testing. The project resulted in two feasible concepts: SkiErg Grip Adapter and SkiErg ErgoGrip. The concepts were presented through physical prototypes and renderings. The project achieved its purpose by creating an enhanced user experience validated through user testing. The project provides valuable insights into the product development process and the challenges that may arise. / <p>Betygsdatum 2023-06-07</p>

Mobiliário urbano no espaço público para o lazer infantil: uma reflexão no contexto da \"Academia da Primeira Idade\" na cidade de São Paulo / Urban furniture in public apace for children\'s play: a reflection in the context of the \"Kids Outdoor Fitness Center\" in the city of São Paulo.

Vieira, Andrea de Brito Stefanelli 09 May 2018 (has links)
This master\'s research is inserted in the studies of the inter-relation between design and architecture, focusing on what is called Kids Outdoor Fitness Equipment, understood as urban furniture aimed for children and implanted in the public space of playground areas, in places chosen presently in the city of São Paulo, where field research was undertaken with a qualitative approach. With the goal of raising data on how urban furniture is perceived and understood by its target audience, it has sought the point of view of child users and their escorts in order to obtain understanding and guidelines regarding the space and equipment to play and exercise in.
