Caracterização das florestas ribeirinhas do rio Formoso e Parque Nacional da Serra da Bodoquena/MS, quanto as espécies ocorrentes e histórico de perturbação, para fins de restauração / Characterization of river Formoso and Bodoquena Plateau National Park riverside forests, related to the species that occur there and disturbance historical, for restoration purposes

Baptista-Maria, Vivian Ribeiro 05 November 2007 (has links)
To reconstruct a riverside forest ecosystem from a scientific version, implies in knowing the floristic diversity and the phenomena complexity that develop in these formations, to understand the processes that take the structuration and maintenance of these ecosystems in the time and to use these information to the elaboration, implantation and conduction of restoration projects. In this direction, this work had as objective (i) to identify and to characterize the floristic composition of the seasonal decidual and semideciduous forests associated to the rivers of Formoso hydrographic basin-Bonito/MS, Perdido and Salobra, that occur in Bodoquena Plateau National Park; (ii) to characterize the historical and current degradation of the forest pieces in study; (iii) to establish and to classify the floristic composition in sucessionais and functional groups, aiming to determine the correlations between the forest formations as basic base to differentiated definition of restoration and conservation actions. The floristic survey was carried monthly, during the period from October 2004 to March 2006, where they had been collected fanerógamas in reproductive phase, through the method of time of evaluation with a total of 576 hours. The floristic survey resulted in 56 families, 184 sorts and 307 species. The Fabaceae family, represented by 51 species, was one of the bigger wealth. Of the total of the species, 68% had presented tree habit, 17% shrubs, 14% had been lianas and only 1% palms. The method time of evaluation adopted revealed itself efficient and of easy applicability in places of difficult access and locomotion through the forest, allowing a bigger displacement to the individuals sampling, encircling the species space distribution, and better reflecting the ambient heterogeneousy from the riverside forests. The specimens have been classified according to its ecological group, in the pioneering, secondary categories and climax. And through the functional groups -fulfilling and diversity. In the hydrographic basin of Formoso river, we got 28% of the pioneering species, 46% of the secondary, 8% climax and 18% have not been classified. In the functional group, 56% of the species are fulfilling and 44% are diversity. To the Perdido basin, we classified 24% of the species as pioneering, 42% secondary, 8% climax and 26% have not been classified. The functional group presented 54% species fulfilling and 46% diversity. In the Salobra basin we got 31% of pioneering species, 36% secondary, 5% climax and 28% have not been classified. In the functional group classification, it was 59% fulfilling and 41% species of diversity. The description of use of each one of the floristically characterized stretches was gotten through the processes of Forest Handling projects with order in IBAMA since 1986, where they had been registered 10,900 ha with order of selective wooden withdrawal. The current conservation state of the showed forest stretches was classified in: little degraded, degraded and much degraded, through ambient pointers. The results gotten in this work have contributed for the knowledge of Mato Grosso do Sul flora and its geographic distributions have strengthened the necessity of conservation of these riverside forests and have supplied subsidies to the restoration plans of the degraded areas around the unit of conservation and permanent protection areas (APP\'s) of the Bodoquena Plateau rivers.

Diversidade florística e estrutura vegetacional das tipologias florestais ocorrentes em diferentes sub-biomas de planície costeira e baixa encosta de bertioga (SP) / Floristic diversity and vegetation structure of forests types occurring in differents sub-biomes of coastal plain and low slope in Bertioga (SP)

Pinto Sobrinho, Felipe de Araújo 18 October 2012 (has links)
This work was done in the Guaratuba and Itaguare coast plains in Bertioga (central coast of São Paulo) and aimed to describe and compare the floristic diversity and phytosociological structure of forest types that occur in different associations with quaternary sediments and soil. A total of 12 forests were sampled: a) Restinga low Forest on Holocene beach ridges in the Guaratuba coast plains (FbR/G), b) Restinga low Forest on Holocene beach ridges in the Itaguaré coast plains (FbR/I), c) Restinga hight Forest on holocene beach ridges (FaR1/G), d) Restinga hight Forest on holocene marine terraces in the Guaratuba coast plains (FaR2/G), e) Restinga hight Forest on holocene marine terraces in the Itaguaré coast plains (FaR2/I), f) Restinga hight Forest on pleistocene marine terraces in the Guaratuba coast plains (FaR3/G); g) Restinga hight Forest on pleistocene marine terraces in the Itaguaré coast plains (FaR3/I), h) wet Restinga hight Forest on holocene estuarine - paleolagoonal shallow depression (FaRu), i) Paludal Forest on holocene paleolagoonal deep depression (FPa), j) Alluvial Forest on pleistocene fluvial terraces (FAL), k) Restinga Slope transition Forest on Holocene to recent Fluvial Deposits (FTr1) and l) Restinga Slope transition Forest on Pleistocene to recent slope deposits). For the sampling the plotting method was used, totaling 1,2 ha of sampled area, being included in the sampling all individuals with diameter at 1,3 m (D.B.H.) 5cm. In total were found 130 species and 42 families. Richness and diversity differences were observed in Forests present on the same geological substrate located in different plains. FAL had the greatest richness and diversity of all forest compared. The analysis of the floristic similarity among the 12 studied areas formed four groups, taking into account the type of geological substratum and geographical distance. The Ilex theezans Mart. ex Reissek stood out in importance value (IV) as well as the relative density (RD) in both Restinga low Forest, this result is repeated in other studies on the coast of São Paulo, being a species potential to restore this forest type in the state of São Paulo. In the Restinga hight Forests, Eriotheca pentaphylla (Vell.) A.Robyns had the highest IV and the greatest RD in four (FaR1/G, FaR2/G, FaR3/G e FaR3/I) of the five sampled areas, being a species potential to restore this forest type in the study region. In FAL Ocotea dispersa (Nees) Mez showed the highest values of IV, RD and relative dominance, indicating the influence of Ombrophylus Dense Forest present in the slopes of the Serra do Mar on the FAL. In the FTr1 and FTr2 Eriotheca pentaphylla stood out with the greatest IV, but it appears with the greatest RD and relative dominance only in the SB-FTr2. In SB-FTr1 this species has only the highest relative dominant being the highest DR for Syagrus pseudococos (Raddi) Glassman. Tabebuia cassinoides (Lam.) DC appears with the highest VI and DR in the two forest on the estuarine - paleolagoonal depression (FaRu and FPA). The biggest height development occurred in the forest on the continental sediments (FAL, FTr1 e FTr2), this fact was probably associated with soil conditions and groundwater level. The Restinga hight Forests that occur on older marine substrates had more developed trees in hight than the Restinga hight IX Forests that occur in the younger substrates. The lowest correlation value between height and DBH occurred in sub-biomes formed by the Restinga low Forest, indicating a more horizontal dispersion of the heights, where the increase in height does not follow the increase in DBH. The principal component analysis (PCA) indicated four groups of sub-biomes, taking into account the variation in chemical soil parameters. All forests showed soils with high acidity. Higher organic matter amounts were found in forests formed by estuarine - paleolagoon sediments (FaRu and FPa) and the lowest occurred in two Restinga low Forest. All areas have soils with low fertility.

Caracterização florística e estrutural do componente arbóreo de três fragmentos de Floresta Estacional Semidecidual da região leste do vale do Paraíba - SP / Floristic and Structural characterization of the composition of arboreal species from three seasonal semi-deciduous forest fragments in the eastern Vale do Paraíba, São Paulo State

Freitas, Herbert Serafim de 12 April 2010 (has links)
As coletas extensivas acresceram 64 espécies, totalizando 290. / The Paraíba do Sul River Basin (southeastern Brazil) is inserted into the Atlantic Rain Forest domain, at elevations from sea leval to 2797 a.s.l.. Ample topografic and climatic complexity is evident, as a result of diverse phytophysionomies, such as the high mountain grassland and savana, as well as seasonal Semi-deciduous, Tropical Rain and Araucaria forests. In spite of evident forest complexity, this basin has not come under the scope of phytogeographical studies. Through an analysis of floristic similarity among tree communities, it is possible to detect species pattern occurrence, as well as to explain conditioning factors. The Seasonal Semi-deciduous Forest of the Vale do Paraíba river basin occurs in highly fragmented areas, and has received but little attention as to floristic and phytosociological factors. With this in mind, the aim was to characterize and compare pertinent aspects of floristic composition, structure and ecology. The study areas were compared with other forests in the Atlantic domain, 17 of which occurring in this basin (RPS basin). Attention was focused on three fragments, two of 14 ha and another of 300.. 135 quarter-centered-points were sampled in each 189 fragment, by considering trees with circumferences equal or wider than 15 cm. 1620 individuals, belonging to 227 species, 138 genera and 51 families, were recorded. 64 species were compounded by random collectioning, to a total of 290. Those families with the highest number of species were Leguminosae, Myrtaceae, Rubiaceae, Lauraceae, Euphorbiaceae and Annonaceae. The total number of species varied from 165 to 178, and Shannon diversity indexes from 3,88 to 4,4. 13 species were first-time- encounters in São Paulo state (e.g. Casearia selloana, Mollinedia longifolia, Pseudolmedia hirtula), and five threatened (Dalbergia nigra, Melanoxylon brauna, Mollinedia glabra, Ocotea odorifera, Urbanodendron bahiense). The fragments were in advanced stages of succession, with predominant zoochory, making their maintenance essential in regional fauna conservation. Through the analysis of floristic and species composition, there was every indication that, in spite of the transitional character between seasonal semi-deciduous and dense ombrophylous forests, there was a stronger link of tree-flora fragments with the former. There was greater similarity between the seasonal semi-deciduous forests of the Paraíba do Sul and those of the Doce river basins, thereby implying continuous distribution. Higher humidity could be the main factor inducing the exclusive distribution of many species among seasonal semi- deciduous forests of the Paraíba do Sul and Doce river basins, as well as dense ombrophylous forests. We suggest that variables, such as rainfall seasonality and volume, altitude and spatial proximity, are those that most strongly influence floristic differences. The richness and number of rare and restricted species emphasize the importance of preserving these regional fragments. In the Paraíba do Sul River Basin, there are no conservation units that include remnant semi-deciduous forest. This aspect seriously compromises the conservation of a unique biota, exclusive to this type of forest.

Grimes, Chrysophyllum flexuosum Mart., Ficus pulchella Schott ex Spreng., Macrotorus utriculatus Perkins, Myrceugenia myrcioides (Cambess.) O.Berg, Rudgea interrupta Benth e Urbanodendron bahiense (Meisn.) Rohwer. (3,40%), Hyeronima alchorneoides Allemão (2,83%), Actinostemon verticillatus (Klotzsch) Baill. (2,55%), Psychotria brasiliensis Vell. (2,55%), Eriotheca pentaphylla (Vell.) A. Robyns (2,28%), Guatteria australis A. St.-Hil. (2,12%), Mabea brasiliensis Müll. Arg. (2,04%), Miconia prasina (Sw.) DC. (1,89%) e Rustia formosa (Cham. & Schltdl. ex DC.) Klotzsch (1,82%). / The study has as purpose to evaluate the floristic and structural composition of shrub-arboreal component in the submontane forest patch within the Atlantic Rain Forest domain with different stages of natural regeneration, in the southeast slope at the State Park of Ilha Grande, RJ. For the floristic studies were realized unsystematic samples in different parts in this slope. The species list was complemented with the conference at herbarium collections of the Rio de Janeiro (FCAB, GUA, HB, HRJ, R, RB, RBR, RFA, RFFP e RUSU) and with the results obtained of phytosociological studies. The conservation status of recorded species was verified for the Brazilian Flora. 34 plots of samples were set out for the phytosociological studies, totaling 1.02 ha of sampled area. All shrubby-arboreous individuals with DAP ≥ 5 cm were registered and, after identification, were deposited in the Herbarium of the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (HRJ). The statistical package FITOPAC 2.1. was used for data analysis. The similarity between the remaining investigated in this study and fourteen others from different areas of Rio de Janeiro, of llha Grande's itself or not, was evaluated using the similarity coefficient of Sorensen; by Unweighted Pair Group Method with Arithmetic Mean (UPGMA) criterion and by the auto-resampling method for the structure of groups; by using the programs PAST v1.34 and Multiv 2.4. From the survey in herbariums and from floristic and phytosociological inventories carried in this paper, were examined 3,470 registers: 1,778 of the survey in herbariums, 1,536 of phytosociological and 156 of floristic studies. These registers corresponded to 606 species or morpho-species of Angiosperms and one of Pteridophyte. The results revealed the existence of 22 species threatened by extinction for Brazilian Flora. From among which, seven are exclusive of phytosociological sampling: Abarema cochliacarpos (Gomes) Barneby & J.W. Grimes, Chrysophyllum flexuosum Mart., Ficus pulchella Schott ex Spreng., Macrotorus utriculatus Perkins, Myrceugenia myrcioides (Cambess.) O.Berg, Rudgea interrupta Benth and Urbanodendron bahiense (Meisn.) Rohwer. In phytosociological study, were inventoried 1,536 individuals of 217 species, subordinate to 53 families. The Shannon diversity indices (H ') calculated was 4,702 nats/ind and equability (J) of 0.874. The ten families with highest richness were: Myrtaceae (31 spp.), Rubiaceae (21), Fabaceae (17), Lauraceae (12), Euphorbiaceae (11), Monimiaceae (8), Melastomataceae (7), Sapindaceae (7), Sapotaceae (6) and Annonaceae (6). The 10 highest values for species importance were for Chrysophyllum flexuosum (3,43%), Lamanonia ternata Vell. (3,40%), Hyeronima alchorneoides Allemão (2,83%), Actinostemon verticillatus (Klotzsch) Baill. (2,55%), Psychotria brasiliensis Vell. (2,55%), Eriotheca pentaphylla (Vell.) The Itirapina swamp forest is naturally isolated from other forests formations, because it is surrounded by wet fields. Cristais Paulista and Jeriquara swamp forests were fragmented by human action and occur in contact with patches of cerrado (mainly cerradão). They were characterized by slope towards stream-edge. In each forest, 60 quadrats of 10 x 10 m were established, which all individuals with CBH > 10 cm were quantified and identified. Soil was classified and evaluated by its chemical properties, texture and drainage, and canopy openness was also estimated. On the three forests 9,725 individuals were sampled, distributed in 109 species. It was found a positive relationship between the number of soil’s classes and the number of species in each forest, with 37 species found in Itirapina (on only one class of soil), 61 in Cristais Paulista (on two soil classes) and 72 in Jeriquara (on three classes). Apart from soil conditions, the contact with Cristais Paulista and Jeriquara swamp forests with cerradão allows the coexistence of hygrophilous and savannas species, which was not observed in Itirapina forest because of its spatial isolation. They show minimal resilience levels and need antropogenic interference for rehabilitation in the regional context. In this study it was evaluated 5 reforestations with different species and functional properties (treatments) after a lapse of 13-years. In chapter 1 it was evaluated the development, horizontal structure and floristic composition of shrubby-arboreal stratum. In chapter 2 understory spontaneous regeneration and in chapter 3 similarity of floristic composition between rehabilitation and a spontaneous restored area (~ 40 years old) were determined. At reforestation sites with five different groups of species, floristic composition increased from 12 to 23 species, distributed on 12 families and 276 individuals, where Fabaceae was the major family. For spontaneous regeneration 3.554 individuals were surveyed (1.438 on winter and 2.116 at summer) and the most representative families were Asteraceae and Poaceae. At the restoration site, it was observed 967 individuals from spontaneous regeneration, and the most representative families were Asteraceae and Sapindaceae, showing that there is low similarity between rehabilitation and restoration environments. All treatments displayed advances in the environmental sustainability, but two combinations of species had different performances in the rehabilitation of the reclaimed areas. Assessment of small scale tallgrass prairie restoration in an urban environment

Mutch, Paul D. 26 October 2007 (has links)
Tallgrass prairie restoration is an important conservation activity in rural areas. However, little is known about prairie restoration in urban environments. The overall objective of this study was to characterize and better understand urban prairie restoration. This was carried out through an examination of 29 restoration sites within Winnipeg, Manitoba. The results indicated that actively restored urban prairies were successful and high in diversity. Multiple attributes of the restorations were examined as indicators of success including vegetation, the propagule bank and insects. However, not all attributes delivered equivocal results. This suggests that multiple measures should be used to assess a restoration site. Anthropogenic and biophysical variables were found to influence vegetation of the restorations equally, highlighting the importance of incorporating a human component in urban ecological research. These urban restorations were seen to surpass larger rural restorations in quality; thus, efforts should be made to increase their prevalence. / February 2008

Κοκμοτός, Ευθύμιος 07 July 2009 (has links)
Τα 6 από αυτά ανήκουν σε μια από τις κατηγορίες ερυθρών δεδομένων του Red Data Book of Rare of Threatened Plants of Greece (Phitoς et al, 1996) Συγκεκριμένα 3 taxa χαρακτηρίζονται εύτρωτα (V), 2 σπάνια (R) και 1 κινδυνεύων (E). Για την κατάταξη των δεδομένων βλάστησης χρησιμοποιήθηκε η Detrended Correspondence Analysis (DCA), με τη βοήθεια του λογισμικού πακέτου πολυπαραγοντικής ανάλυσης PC-ORD 4.19 (Multivariate Analysis of Ecological Data, version 3.0 for Windows). / The mountains Elikonas, Xerovouni ands Neraidolakkoma are situated in the south-central part of Sterea Ellada Department. In the present thesis we examine the information concerning the abiotic environment, such as the topography, the geology, the climate and the bioclimate. The flora of the study area consists of 1273 taxa, out of which 116 are Greek and 72 Balkan endemics. In the framework of the doctoral thesis we analyze the life form spectrum and the chorological spectrum of our flora. Moreover, we look into the plant geographical relations of the mountainous complex with other regions in Greece as well as with the main mountains of Sterea Ellada and of Peloponnese. The phytosociological research resulted to the distinction of 20 associations and 17 communities. Among them, 3 new associations and 6 new communities are described. Furthermore, elements of ecological succession of the vegetation units are juxtaposed, as well as the most critical human threats. Finally, we evaluate a significant number of vegetal elements, the habitats under observation, but also the research area in its total.

The Vascular Flora of Greater San Quintín, Baja California, Mexico

Vanderplank, Sula E 01 January 2010 (has links)
The plants of San Quintín (Baja California, Mexico) were documented through intensive fieldwork and the collection of herbarium specimens to create a checklist of species. This region is home to a diverse flora with high levels of local endemism and many rare plants. The flora documented in this study was compared to historical records from the region and shows the impact of agriculture and urbanization on the plants, including several extirpated species. A study of the perennial vegetation using a 1 km grid provides species distribution data for 140 native species, which were assessed to highlight areas of significant species richness for native, rare, and endemic taxa. Several non-native plants were also mapped to provide baseline data. Areas of conservation priority for the flora of Greater San Quintín are discussed in light of these combined findings.
