The aim of the master's thesis is to provide the analysis of the composition of towing used by flying clubs in the Czech Republic. Another part of the analysis is the comparison of home towing types with types used abroad. Another aim is to analyse legislative and operating demands on towing types used in the Czech Republic and process procedures of safety and effective towing. Based on these findings the author formulates economic and operating requirements which an ideal tow plane should meet and compare these requirements with attributes available on the market.

Methodology For Evaluating Flying Qualities From Desktop Simulator

A modern ghter aircraft has an advanced ight control system which highly augmentsthe control inputs from the pilot. To verify a new iteration of the control system is a timeconsuming and expensive task. It is desired to nd qualities that is not satisfactory to thepilot as early as possible in the verication process to reduce the cost for design changes.The primary objective of this thesis is to develop methods that can be used for automaticalevaluation of aircraft ying qualities from the data provided by a desktop simulator. A desktopsimulator is cheap to use compared to ight tests and tests with a pilot in a simulator.Only ghter aircraft in the precision ight phase are studied however the methods developedcould easily be extended to include other types of aircraft and other phases of ight.To evaluate the ying qualities two sets of criteria are used the MIL-F-8785C standardand the Gibson criteria. The MIL-F-8785C standard uses a second order linear system toevaluate the aircraft's ying qualities. The linear system is estimated from the nonlineardata and evaluated against the MIL-F-8785C standard. The Gibson criteria studies the timeand frequency domain directly and are designed to work with highly augmented aircraft.The set of Gibson criteria used in this thesis primary evaluates data from the time domainhowever one criterion from the frequency domain is studied.The methods developed to evaluate the ying qualities from the MIL-F-8785C standardonly works for a small part of the ight envelope furthermore they show a large dierencefor what is considered acceptable ying qualities. Because of this the methods developed forthe MIL-F-8785C standard are considered not to be suited for evaluating ying qualities forhighly augmented aircraft. The methods developed to evaluate the ying qualities againstthe Gibson criteria works for a large part of the ight and also show a high accuracy. Thismakes the methods suited for evaluation of the ying qualities.

Habitat Associations Between the Northern Flying Squirrel and Red Spruce

<p>Red spruce forests, one of the most critically endangered ecosystems in the United States</p>provides critical habitat for several endemic species or subspecies of the Appalachian Mountains, including the Virginia northern flying squirrel. Once listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act, the Virginia northern flying squirrel was delisted in 2013. Managers are currently focusing their efforts on projects that increase the extent and connectivity of the squirrel’s habitat through red spruce restoration. At present, there is a paucity of available data to assess the implications of the silvicultural activities associated with red spruce restoration on the movement and occupancy of the Virginia northern flying squirrel. In order to inform management activities, I measured home range, fine-scale habitat use, and estimated detection and occupancy for northern flying squirrels across a gradient of red spruce stands in the Monongahela National Forest. I concluded that home ranges for northern flying squirrels within this region are comprised primarily of red spruce and that northern flying squirrels were selecting larger diameter trees compared to the nearest available neighbor. Additionally, I found that microhabitat characteristics alone did not sufficiently predict northern flying squirrel occupancy and that acoustic methods for surveying northern flying squirrels will require further refinement. Future research efforts should focus on a combination of landscape-level and microhabitat covariates to best predict occupancy of this species across the landscape. Future red spruce management should be approached with caution regarding the potential impact on northern flying squirrel habitat in the short-term. I recommended using spatially-explicit modeling to assess the long-term effects of proposed red spruce restoration projects on northern flying squirrel population demographics, dispersal, and metapopulation connectivity prior to the implementation of silvicultural treatments.

"Florida State University presents an annual all-student University circus which is nationally known. This event is a five-ring affair held in the spring quarter of each year in which approximately one hundred and fifty students take an active part. The activities which make up the circus include those of the aerial, dancing, balancing, gymnastics and tumbling, skating, and clowning types. Approximately five small performances are given during the fall quarter in cities near the locality in the State of Florida each year. The Department of Physical Educaiton for Men at Florida State University offers a one-hour service course in circus activities as well as sponsoring the annual all-student University circus. The circus is a part of the physical education program. Physical education is education, and the purposes of both are the same. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine the educational values of Florida State University's circus.
