DISCRETE EVENT SIMULATION OF THE EOS-AM1 SCIENCE FORMATTING EQUIPMENTBarringer, Bruce O. 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 17-20, 1994 / Town & Country Hotel and Conference Center, San Diego, California / Fairchild is presently developing a high-rate telemetry collection and formatting
component for one of NASA’s Mission to Planet Earth’s key missions. Because of the
complexity and new technology involved, discrete event simulation tools have played a
key role in the development process. This paper serves as a brief introduction to this
component and to the model developed with the simulation tools.

Konverze formátovacích objektů do ODF / Conversion of formatting objects to ODFBodnár, Petr January 2008 (has links)
This thesis deals with conversion of text documents from the format of so called formatting objects (XSL FO) to OpenDocument format (ODF). This conversion can be useful e. g. for distribution, printing or additional modification of a document in a text editor which supports ODF (e. g. OpenOffice). The thesis starts with description of both formats and it mentions basic elements that the formats offer for defining a text document. A comparison of both formats and description of possibilities of converting documents from XSL FO to ODF follows right after. The proved-by-practise and widely available XSLT transformation is chosen for the conversion implementation. It is illustrated on a sample application which enables to launch the conversion from an internet browser, from OpenOffice or from a command line.

REAL-TIME TELEMETRY DATA FORMATTING FOR FLIGHT TEST ANALYSISO'Brien, R. Michael 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 17-20, 1994 / Town & Country Hotel and Conference Center, San Diego, California / With today's telemetry systems, an hour-long analog test tape can be digitized in one
hour or less. However, the digitized data produced by today's telemetry systems is
usually not in a format that can be directly analyzed by the test engineer's analysis
tools. The digitized data must be formatted before analysis can begin. The data
formatting process can take from one to eight hours depending on the amount of data,
the power of the system's host computer, and the complexity of the analysis software's
data format. If more than one analysis package is used by the test engineer, the data
has to be formatted separately for each package.
Using today's high-speed RISC processors and large memory technology, a real-time
Flexible Data Formatter can be added to the Telemetry Front End to perform this
formatting function. The Flexible Data Formatter (FDF) allows the telemetry user to
program the front-end hardware to output the telemetry test data in a format
compatible with the user's analysis software. The FDF can also output multiple data
files, each in a different format for supporting multiple analysis packages. This
eliminates the file formatting step, thus reducing the time to process the data from
each test by a factor of two to nine.

A CCSDS Compatible High-Rate Telemetry Formatter for Space ApplicationBarringer, Bruce O. 11 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 30-November 02, 1995 / Riviera Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada / OSC is presently developing a high-rate telemetry collection and formatting component for NASA's EOS-AM1 spacecraft. This device, called the Science Formatting Equipment, is capable of collecting data at aggregate rates exceeding 130 Mbps. The collected data is formatted into CCSDS compatible data structures, error coded, and then routed either to a downlink output or to a recording device at data rates up to 150 Mbps. This paper serves as a brief introduction to this component.

Better text formatting for the mobile web with javascriptAngerborn, Felix January 2015 (has links)
As people read more and longer texts on the web, the simple formatting options that exists in todays browsers creates worse results than necessary. On behalf of Opera Software in Linköping, a better algorithm has been implemented in Javascript with the purpose of delivering a visually better experience for the reader. The implementation is first and foremost for mobile devices and therefore a large part of the thesis has been the evaluation and optimization of performance.

Use of Multi-Threading, Modern Programming Language, and Lossless Compression in a Dynamic Commutation/Decommutation SystemWigent, Mark A., Mazzario, Andrea M., Matsumura, Scott M. 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2011 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-Seventh Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 24-27, 2011 / Bally's Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Nevada / The Spectrum Efficient Technology Science and Technology (SET S&T) Program is sponsoring the development of the Dynamic Commutation and Decommutation System (DCDS), which optimizes telemetry data transmission in real time. The goal of DCDS is to improve spectrum efficiency - not through improving RF techniques but rather through changing and optimizing contents of the telemetry stream during system test. By allowing the addition of new parameters to the telemetered stream at any point during system test, DCDS removes the need to transmit measured data unless it is actually needed on the ground. When compared to serial streaming telemetry, real time re-formatting of the telemetry stream does require additional processing onboard the test article. DCDS leverages advances in microprocessor technology to perform this processing while meeting size, weight, and power constraints of the test environment. Performance gains of the system have been achieved by significant multi-threading of the application, allowing it to run on modern multi-core processors. Two other enhancing technologies incorporated into DCDS are the Java programming language and lossless compression.

Empirical Research of Decision-making Effectiveness When Using Differing Presentation Formats Under Varying Decision TasksHard, Nancy J. (Nancy Jean) 12 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this research was to determine if presentation format, given a particular task to be performed, would affect the decision-making process of financial decision makers. The problem motivating this study is the potential for managers to make inefficient decisions when they use reports which are presented inappropriately for a given task.
