A Synthesis of Geometry and Light

Mukesh Jain, Prakhyaa 19 January 2021 (has links)
The poetics of an architecture of a moment is explored through design of a contemplative room (wherin the geometric transformation of a cubic base to a cone) demonstrates the rhythmn and proportion of the construction of the room and the relative motion of the sun in the space. The relationship of the sun rays on the walls of the room passing through a reflecting pool are shown using demonstrative and constructive means of descriptive geometry as both the design generator and poetic expression. The composition of the buildings reveals the play of light on form. / Master of Architecture / An exploration to understand the relationship of architecture and the material sensible world. The work seeks to reveal that through the tangible architectural strategies of form, structure, material and light, the intangible qualities of architecture are defined.

Transformações geométricas planas: um estudo experimental e dinâmico / Plane geometric transformations: an experimental and dynamic study

Ribeiro, Marco Antonio da Silva 28 June 2016 (has links)
This study aims to provide support for a proposed teaching-learning content related to Plane Geometric Transformations with the use of Dynamic Geometry software, associated with Mathematical Machines, aiming target audience students of the final years of elementary school. Starting from issues involving both teaching and learning, or more specifically, the appropriation of the concept of geometric transformation by the students, we try to investigate to what extent the use of a Dynamic Geometry environment associated with the use of type linkages artifacts can contribute to the intellectual development of students in this subject. The work includes a literature study on the subject, addressing the geometric transformations as mathematical objects and learning objects, culminating in the development of a didactic proposal to address this matter in basic education, using the resources mentioned.

Geometric Transformation and Illumination Invariant for Facial Recognition

Chou, Wei-li 03 July 2006 (has links)
There exist many methods for facial recognition, such as eigenface, templates, artificial neural networks, etc., based on the given facial sample data (patterns). When an input facial image (target) involve simple geometrical transformations and illumination, the performance of these methods are not very satisfactory. In this thesis, following Li et al., we propose a new face recognition system, which can eliminate translation, rotation, scaling, and prospective transformations of facial images automatically, and can also eliminate illumination. According to facial features, we use this method to find the best transformation and the closet illumination, and then to eliminate them for identification by the best matching between a target and the patterns. Finally, we use the least squares method to recognize the target. This method is validated by numerical examples.

Implementation of Floating Point CORDIC and its Application in 3D Computer Graphics

Wang, Po-Li 02 July 2002 (has links)
Computer graphics has become one of the important method to display information and has been applied in many applications such as CAD, medical image processing, computer animation, multimedia and virtual reality. These popular applications rely on the low-cost and real-time processing of 3D graphics which become available due to the breakthrough in the hardware design of 3D graphic engine. In this thesis, we implement a CORDIC-based floating-point processor that can compute a wide variety of arithmetic operations and show how it can be applied to the design of 3D engine.

Medeiros, Margarete Farias January 2012 (has links)
This work presents the conception, implementation and validation of an experiment to teach geometric transformations in the plane using the dynamic geometry environment GeoGebra. The proposal integrates geometry and art through the construction of tessellations of the plane, including Escher's mosaics, and it was directed to elementary school teachers, aiming to present a new alternative to work with geometry using digital media. The work used the principles of Didactic Engineering and the analysis of the experiment was based on the Socio-Historical theory, whose main reference is the work of Vygotsky and on the work of Duval about registers of semiotic representation in the process of mathematics learning. The analysis a priori and a posteriori showed that the teachers, through the use of GeoGebra, learned the principles of dynamic geometry and the concepts of geometry transformations.

Dvimačių ir trimačių objektų vaizdų geometrinių transformacijų mokomoji sistema / The learning system of two-dimensional and three-dimensional objects geometric transformation

Platužienė, Jūratė 16 August 2007 (has links)
Administratorius be šių galimybių dar gali kurti naujas užduotis ir valdyti duomenų bazę. / I am analysing the system for two-dimentional and three-dimentional objects transformation in this work. There is the system that serves the purpose to demonstrate and control exercised worksheets. Available systems allows to create and transform the shape. But there is no condition of worksheet, that after accomplished, we could conclude about students‘ knowledge. There is no possibility to save created worksheet in the analysed systems, so there is no chance to resume its data base. My demonstrated system has the tools for creating, saving and including new worksheet to the data base. There are two types of users using the system – ordinary user and administrating user. Administrator has all privilege to control the program. Ordinary user can study or make worksheet.

A Cumulative Framework for Image Registration using Level-line Primitives / Décision cumulative de vote pour la mise en correspondance des primitives de lignes de niveaux

Almehio, Yasser 04 September 2012 (has links)
In this thesis, we propose a new image registration method that relies on level-line primitives. Level-lines are robust towards contrast changes and proposed primitives inherit their robustness. Moreover, their abundance in the image is well adapted to a cumulative matching process based on a multi-stage primitive election procedure. We propose a simple recursive tracking algorithm to extract level lines by straight sets called "segments". Segments are then grouped under proximity constraints to construct primitives (Z, Y and W shapes) that are classified into categories according to their reliability. Primitive shapes are defined according to the transformation model. The cumulative process is based on a preliminary step of preference lists construction that is inspired from the stable marriage matching algorithm. Primitives vote in a given voting stage according to their reliability. Each stage provides a coarse estimate of the transformation that the next stage gets to refine. This process, in turn, eliminate gradually the ambiguity happened by incorrect correspondences. Our additional contribution is to validate further geometric transformations, from simple to complex ones, completing the path "similarity, affine, projective". We show in this thesis how the choice of level lines in conjunction with a cumulative decision process allows defining a complete robust registration approach that is tested and evaluated on several real image sequences including different type of transformations.
