Study on Technology and LearningBramwell, Jeremy 01 January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this research thesis is to investigate technologies effects on learning. Specifically the researchers studied the usability of intelligent personal assistant-enabled devices for learning assistance. It is assumed that using technology in educational context helps both students and educators because there is a positive effect on engagement which increases learning curves. Although, this is not always the case. The present study yielded results that were not consistent with the assumption that using any type of technology as an aid for learning has a positive effect. Further research will seek to investigate other intelligent personal assistant devices for classroom use.

A Human-like Interaction with Intelligent AssistantsWittbom, Madeleine January 2018 (has links)
Artificial Intelligence is being developed and implemented into everyday technologies at an ever increasing speed and the need to make Artificial Intelligence behave human-like has shown to be of importance in an effort to reduce the gap between human and computer. This study examines the state of human-like attributes in current the Intelligent Assistant Google Home to then further explore the design opportunities for a more human-like interaction with Intelligent Assistants. Through interviews, design experiments and prototypes this thesis arrives at a final design proposal for future implementation in Intelligent Assistants which defines what a human- like interaction entails for the people involved in this study.

The new generation of Smart Home Device : Health Monitoring system for Smart Homes / Ny generation av Smart Home DeviceJarque Antolí, Carlos January 2019 (has links)
This thesis project was conveyed in collaboration with Block Zero, a strategic Design Studio in Malmö, Sweden, with the purpose to design a product that develops a new type of interaction within the Smart Home. This design project will primarily focus on the research, exploration and definition of possible solutions, and the resulting design and development of the final product, a Smart Home Health Hub. From a global perspective, throughout the following document is covered a description of the design process from initial research to the final prototype. The project is defined in this approach and establishes the mentioned principles to guide the execution of the project through a deductive method, synthesising until the final result.

User Privacy Perception and Concerns Regarding the Use of Cloud-Based AssistantsAwojobi, Abiodun 12 1900 (has links)
Cloud-based assistants like the Google Home and the Amazon Alexa have become ubiquitous in our homes. Users can simply communicate with the devices using a smartphone application. There are privacy concerns associated with cloud-based assistants. For example, users do not know what type of information is being sent to the device manufacturer, if the device is stealthily listening to conversations, data retention, or who else has access to the data. Privacy is about perception. The goal of this study is to determine user privacy concerns regarding cloud-based assistants by adopting a quantitative research method. The study used a privacy decision framework that lists three core components, which are technology controls, understanding user privacy preference, and government regulations. The research used Dervin's sensemaking model to describe users' privacy perception using the privacy decision framework and improved on a privacy perception survey instrument from previous dissertations. An understanding of user privacy concerns with cloud-based assistants is required to provide a comprehensive privacy guidance to stakeholders. The significance of this study is in the identification of the privacy perception of users of cloud-based assistants and the extent to which the components of the theoretical framework can impact user privacy perception. The results of this study serve as a guide for device manufacturers and other stakeholders in prioritizing privacy design decisions.

IoT systém pro domácnost / IoT Home SystemKovařík, Viktor January 2020 (has links)
The aim of this thesis was to learn and summarize basic information about IoT systems, which protocols are used and introduction of Google Home system. The first part of the thesis describes the individual parts of the system --- microcontrollers, sensors, light elements and possible systems for backend. In the implementation part of the thesis was designed a solution for smart home controling using Google Home technology. Based on data from the weather station, the system controls and adjusts the intensity of outdoor lighting and controls the blinds. Furthermore, a control module for gate and garage door control is implemented. The system also takes care of vacuum cleaning in the house using iRobot Roomba vacuum cleaners with custom Wi-Fi module. The final part of the thesis summarizes the achieved results.
