Estudo da conexão entre as drenagens do Médio Paraíba do Sul e do Alto Tietê: o caso do cotovelo de Guararema - SP, Brasil / Study of the connection between the drainages of the rivers Tietê and Paraíba do Sul: the case of Guararemas elbow - SP, Brazil

Vaniza Pasa 12 August 2013 (has links)
No Graben do Paraíba, superfície alongada e rebaixada entre as Serras do Mar e Mantiqueira, a forte declividade favorece o processo erosivo. / This work deals with the characterization regional drainages between the rivers Tietê and Paraíba do Sul, associated with the capture process river, located between the cities of Guararema and Mogi das Cruzes, State of São Paulo. It starts with the hypothesis capture process in middle course of river Paraíba do Sul and training elbow Guararema what characterizes this anomaly as one of the most interesting of the planet Earth. It is common in the region and the dendritic pattern of drainage densification cut by faults and fractures of various ages. The basement consists of crystalline structures covered by sedimentary packages Tertiary and Quaternary. The Graben Paraíba, elongated surface and lowered between the Serra do Mar and Mantiqueira, the strong declivity favors the erosion process. The area is characterized by these two important rivers of the Brazilian territory is part of the Watershed System Tafrogênicas Continental Rift of Southeastern Brazil (RCSB), which was affected by NE-SW faults of great regional expression, and the capture process would be responsible for the present configuration of the drainage network. The reactivation and movement of regional blocks of Mesozoic and Cenozoic periods inverted the direction of the Paraíba do Sul River in its central section, which in the past taxed waters in Rio Tietê. As a result of this regional readjustment, some of its tributaries have broken the watershed that separated him the headwaters of the Tietê and captured part of its drainage through the process of regressive retreat. This proves the catch is the location of the valley dry feature that may indicate the ancient link between the two rivers, which was identified in this research area through the analysis of charts, maps, profiles and photo interpretation. Due to the high erosive power sector in the middle valley of the River Paraíba, new catch may be in the process of evolution.

Geological, Hydrogeological And Geochemical Analyses Of The Geothermal Systems In The Buyuk Menderes Graben

Guducu, Hatice 01 November 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Geothermal reservoirs have become very popular in the last decades due to their renewable energy contents. Turkey has a high geothermal energy potential / especially Western Anatolia is a promising region in terms of its highest energy. B&uuml / y&uuml / k Menderes Graben system is a tectonically active extensional region and is undergoing a N&ndash / S extension leading to form geothermal fields in the graben. In the last decade, geothermal exploration, investigations and investments have been increased rapidly through the law related to geothermal energy assigned. The aim of this study is to analyze the geothermal fields located in the graben system in order to investigate their geological, hydrogeological and geochemical features and reservoir characteristics. A data set is compiled from the accessible archives, published papers and documents and several variables have been searched at every field in the graben. The variables include the fluid temperature, the distance to sea, the depth to the reservoir, the reservoir lithology, the chemical constituents, etc. In view of these variables the fields are compared and constrasted and their common characterisrics have been noted. Interpretation of the data set reveals that the fields have some common features and characters however some fields have got notable differences.

Neo- And Seismo-tectonic Characteristics Of The Yenigediz (kutahya) Area

Gurboga, Sule 01 December 2011 (has links) (PDF)
Erdogmus-Yenigediz graben is one of the major structural elements of Aksehir-Simav Fault System (ASFS), which is a major extensional structure in the southwestern Anatolian extensional neotectonic province (SWAEP). It is about 6-10-km-wide, 15-km-long and approximately ENE-trending and is actively growing structure as indicated by the 1970.03.28 (Mw= 7.2) Gediz earthquake. The graben is characterized by two distinct units, separated by an angular unconformity: (i) Miocene-middle Pliocene Arica formation and (ii) Plio Quaternary Erdogmus formation. The former unit commences with a basal conglomerate above the basement rocks and is composed mainly of coal-bearing continental and lacustrine sediments with lava flows and pyroclastics, particularly common in the middle parts of the sequence. The volcanics are dated at 18.4 &plusmn / 0.1 Ma (Ar-Ar mica ages). They record evidence for two deformation phases as suggested by twosets of overprinting slickenlines, intense folding, thrust and strike-slip faulting. The Erdogmus formation commences with terrace conglomerates and is composed mainly of travertines, older and younger alluvial deposits, fan-apron sediments and the recent axial graben floor sediments. Kinematic analysis of the graben-bounding normal faults, growth faults within the graben-infill and those deforming the sediments are consistent with three distinct phases of deformation: (i) Miocene middle Pliocene extensional phase, (ii) interveining NE SW contractional phase and (iii) Plio-Quaternary extensional phase. The data also suggests a distributed stress field and a multi-directional recent extension in predominantly NNE&ndash / SSW, E&ndash / W and NE&ndash / SW directions. This is also consistent with available focal mechanism solutions for the region. The graben therefore has an episodic evolutionary history with two extensional phases and an intervening short-term contraction, as described in many different parts of the SWAEP. The latter phase of extension is considered as the part of Neotectonic regime, which therefore commenced by the Late Pliocene.

Caractéristiques géothermiques du réservoir gréseux du Buntsandstein d'Alsace

Haffen, Sébastien 28 September 2012 (has links) (PDF)

Sedimentology, Stratigraphic Evolution and Provenance of the Cambrian – Lower Ordovician Potsdam Group in the Ottawa Embayment and Quebec Basin

Lowe, David January 2016 (has links)
The Cambrian – Lower Ordovician Potsdam Group is a mostly siliciclastic unit that provides important insight into the paleoenvironmental, geologic and tectonic history of Early Paleozoic Laurentia. Nevertheless, in spite of 178 years of study the Potsdam in the Ottawa Embayment and Quebec Basin remains poorly understood. Also poorly understood is how the Potsdam relates with coeval strata regionally. In this work six siliciclastic paleoenvironments are recognized: (a) braided fluvial, (b) ephemeral fluvial, (c) aeolian, (d) coastal sabkha, (e) tide-dominated marine and (f) open-coast tidal flat. Fluvial strata were examined in particular detail and interpreted to consist of two end-member kinds. Braided fluvial deposits are dominated by low-relief bars formed in wide, shallow channels; however where basement structures limited the lateral growth of channels, flows were deeper and bar deposits thicker and higher angle. In contrast, ephemeral fluvial strata are dominated by sheetflood splay sedimentation with rare preservation of scour-filling supercritical bedform strata – all later subjected to aeolian reworking. In the upper Potsdam, alternating ephemeral and braided fluvial strata provide a record of climate change, which, respectively, correlate with documented global cool (arid) and warm (humid) periods during the Late Cambrian and Early Ordovician. Three allounits are recognized in Potsdam strata, recording regional episodes of sedimentation and facilitating correlation with coeval strata throughout eastern North America. These correlations, aided with provenance data from detrital zircons, show that changes in the areal distribution of sediment supply, accommodation and deposition/erosion were principally controlled by episodic reactivation of the Neoproterozoic Ottawa graben, which then periodically modified the stratigraphic expression of the ongoing Sauk transgression. Specifically, episodes of tectonic reactivation occurred during late Early to Middle Cambrian (allounit 1), late Middle to early Late Cambrian (allounits 2 – 3 unconformity), and Earliest Ordovician (allounits 3 – 4 unconformity). The earliest episode is correlated to regional extension of southern Laurentia, whereas the latter two are linked to peri-Laurentian accretion events that triggered reactivation of the Ottawa graben via the Missisquoi oceanic fracture zone.

Vertical Gallium Nitride Power Devices: Fabrication and Characterisation

Hentschel, Rico 14 May 2021 (has links)
Efficient power conversion is essential to face the continuously increasing energy consumption of our society. GaN based vertical power field effect transistors provide excellent performance figures for power-conversion switches, due to their capability of handling high voltages and current densities with very low area consumption. This work focuses on a vertical trench gate metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) with conceptional advantages in a device fabrication preceded GaN epitaxy and enhancement mode characteristics. The functional layer stack comprises from the bottom an n+/n- drift/p body/n+ source GaN layer sequence. Special attention is paid to the Mg doping of the p-GaN body layer, which is a complex topic by itself. Hydrogen passivation of magnesium plays an essential role, since only the active (hydrogen-free) Mg concentration determines the threshold voltage of the MOSFET and the blocking capability of the body diode. Fabrication specific challenges of the concept are related to the complex integration, formation of ohmic contacts to the functional layers, the specific implementation and processing scheme of the gate trench module and the lateral edge termination. The maximum electric field, which was achieved in the pn- junction of the body diode of the MOSFET is estimated to be around 2.1 MV/cm. From double-sweep transfer measurements with relatively small hysteresis, steep subthreshold slope and a threshold voltage of 3 - 4 V a reasonably good Al2O3/GaN interface quality is indicated. In the conductive state a channel mobility of around 80 - 100 cm2/Vs is estimated. This obtained value is comparable to device with additional overgrowth of the channel. Further enhancement of the OFF-state and ON-state characteristics is expected for optimization of the device termination and the high-k/GaN interface of the vertical trench gate, respectively. From the obtained results and dependencies key figures of an area efficient and competitive device design with thick drift layer is extrapolated. Fault zones in potential geothermal reservoir rocks in the Upper Rhine Graben: Characteristics, permeability implications, and numerical stress field models

Meier, Silke 03 May 2016 (has links)

Biron, Pierre-Eymard 02 April 1982 (has links) (PDF)
