With the development of the wireless communication system, the antenna has been widely used as an important tool in data transmission. However, there are many characteristic parameters for antenna need to be calculated by complex calculation. For example the mutual input impedance of dipole antenna, the Directivity coefficient and the Gain coefficient. Therefore, it is quite practically hard to implement by hand, especially for student who was studying on it. In order to solve this problem, this thesis has establishes the calculation procedure for the complex parameters of antenna by using MATLAB software.

This thesis presents the very practical and novel approach of using the Graphical User Interface (GUI) to compute the entire set of Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controllers given the transfer function or the frequency response of the system under consideration. Though there is a wide spread usage of PID controllers in the industry, until recently no formal algorithm existed on determining a set of PID values that will stabilize the given system. The industry still relies on algorithms like the Ziegler- Nicholas or ad-hoc approaches in determining the value of PID controllers. Also when it comes to model free approaches, the use of Fuzzy logic and Neural network do not guarantee stability of the system. For a continuous Linear Time Invariant system Bhattacharyya and others have developed an algorithm that determines the entire set of PID controllers given the transfer function or just the frequency response of the system. The GUI has been developed based on this theory. The GUI also evaluates the user input performance specifications and generates a subset of stable controllers given the performance criteria for the system. This thesis presents an approach of automating the computation of entire set of stabilizing Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controllers given the system transfer function or the frequency response data of the system. The Graphical User Interface (GUI) developed bridges the gap between the developed theory and the industry.

The proliferation of open-architecture, modular approaches to data transport and multiplexing systems shows the need for a unified, high-level control scheme that helps to flatten the users' learning curve for increasingly sophisticated, expanding systems. Implementing a control package with the functionality described in this paper will improve the user experience by eliminating the need for low level hardware management, minimizing system network footprint and unifying this functionality for a diverse hardware package.

The aim of this thesis is to characterize the foundational aspects of the Java programming language and the development of applications with it. As an exemplary application on which to demonstrate the findings, we will use Nand2Tetris playground, a simple education application, some of which's aspects will be analyzed within the thesis. The aim of the Nand2Tetris Playground project will be to propose and implement a graphical user interface for the first part of the Nand2Tetris computer architecture course, created by Noam Nisan, Ph.D. and Simon Schocken, Ph.D. In this part of the course, the student is tasked with assemblig all the basic boolean logic gates and several other basic parts using only NAND gates. Software for this part already exists, but can be user unfriendly, especially for a student not well versed in computer science. This is why the GUI that will be proposed and implemented will make the course more accessible even to students not very proficient in the area.

A Hierarchy Based Interface for Integration of Scientific Applications

Computational Field Simulation processes are typically complex and involve execution of multiple software tools in the form of pipelines to perform simulations successfully. Very often, handling the input and output communication between the tools and allocating computing resources for the processes becomes an essential but an unimportant task for the user. A well written script can often reduce these peripheral tasks and allow the user to concentrate on the analysis. This thesis studies the aspects of design and implementation of a framework called the Integrated Simulation Environment or ISE, that not only forms a scripted environment for high level integration of simulation software tools, but is also flexible enough to accommodate new tools on the fly, while maintaining ease of use and reliability. A hierarchy based design methodology was used to implement the ISE. Hierarchies provide the framework with the flexibility to decompose the complexities of simulation process pipelines and physical entities such as grids and geometries into managable components. Also hierarchies are easily translated into standards such as XML for saving and restoring, and external communication. An Overset CFD simulation process pipeline was integrated into the framework and tested for ease of use, reliability and extensibility. Both simple and complex tools such as a curve extraction tool, a surface grid generation tool, a volume grid generation tool and tools for preparing flow solver inputs were integrated into the system and tested successfully.
