The objective of this work to assess the supply of silicon for organic waste agribusiness, and to evaluate the influence of this nutrient in the accumulation of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg ) and sulfur (S) in maize. We analyzed the accumulation of silicon in the leaves and stems of the plant and the effect of these sources in stem diameter, the height and mass of dry corn plant, as well as the accumulation of N, P, K, Ca, Mg and S in corn leaves provided by agro-industrial residues and by levels of silicon used. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse in a completely randomized design (4x3) + 1. We evaluated three sources organic agribusiness (bagasse ash from sugar cane filter cake rotary sugarcane and rice hulls), and for the supply of silicon also evaluated the mineral source (calcium silicate PA); three strengths of SiO2 (175 kg ha-1, 350 kg ha-1 and 700 kg ha-1) and additional treatment (control), which received no SiO2. The sources and doses of SiO2 did not affect the mass of dried corn plants. However, the addition of SiO2 dose provided an increase in the diameter of stem of the maize plant. The rice hulls was more efficient among all treatments in Si supply to the corn crop. The supply of Si favors the absorption and consequent accumulation of potassium and phosphorus from the corn plant. There was no relationship between the supply of Si and Mg and S uptake by corn plant. Finally, there was no relationship between the accumulation of Si and the reduction of leaf N in corn plants. / Os resíduos agroindustriais possuem elevado potencial para fornecimento de silício (Si) e outros nutrientes para as culturas agrícolas. Objetivou-se, com esse trabalho, avaliar o fornecimento de silício por resíduos orgânicos agroindustriais, e avaliar a influência desse nutriente no acúmulo de nitrogênio (N), fósforo (P), potássio (K), cálcio (Ca), magnésio (Mg) e enxofre(S) na planta de milho. Foi analisado o acúmulo de silício nas folhas e nos colmos da planta e o efeito dessas fontes no diâmetro do colmo, na altura e na massa da planta de milho seca, assim como o acúmulo de N, P, K, Ca, Mg e S nas folhas de milho proporcionado pelos resíduos agroindustriais e pelas doses de silício utilizadas. O experimento foi instalado em casa de vegetação no delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado (4x3) + 1. Foram avaliadas três fontes orgânicas agroindustriais (cinza de bagaço de cana-de-açúcar, torta de filtro rotativo de cana-de-açúcar e casca-de-arroz carbonizada), e para o fornecimento de silício também avaliou-se a fonte mineral (silicato de cálcio P.A.); três dosagens de SiO2(175 Kg ha-1, 350 Kg ha-1 e 700 Kg ha1) e o tratamento adicional (testemunha), o qual não recebeu SiO2. As fontes e doses de SiO2 não influenciaram a massa das plantas secas de milho. Entretanto, o acréscimo das doses de SiO2 proporcionou o aumento no diâmetro de colmo da planta de milho. A casca-de-arroz carbonizada mostrou-se mais eficiente entre todos os tratamentos no fornecimento de Si para a cultura do milho. O fornecimento de Si favoreceu a absorção e consequente acúmulo de P e K pela planta de milho. Não se observou relação entre o fornecimento de Si e a absorção de Mg e S pela planta de milho. Por fim, não houve relação entre o acúmulo de Si e a redução do N foliar nas plantas de milho.

Previous issue date: 2017-03-03 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) / A utilização dos resíduos sólidos como matéria-prima pode diminuir consideravelmente a extração de recursos naturais, diminuindo assim o impacto sobre o meio ambiente. Dentre os resíduos, os plásticos estão entre os que mais apresentam problemas, pois, mesmo quando descartados corretamente nos aterros sanitários, causam danos ao formarem uma camada impermeável que dificulta a compactação do lixo, afetando as trocas de líquidos e gases gerados e reduzindo a eficiência do processo de biodegradação da matéria orgânica. Diante dos problemas, este trabalho teve por objetivos avaliar a viabilidade técnica de utilização de dois tipos de processos: a extrusora dupla rosca e o misturador termocinético (Drais), na produção de compósitos de BOPP (Polipropileno Biorientado metalizado), reforçados com resíduos de cascas, de eucalipto (CE) e de arroz (CA). Das misturas entre esses resíduos, foram confeccionados 10 tratamentos, de onde se extraíram os corpos de provas, moldados por injeção. Foram avaliadas as propriedades mecânicas (flexão – módulo de ruptura-MOR e módulo de elasticidade-MOE, resistência à tração, resistência ao impacto e dureza Shore D), térmicas (avaliação da condutividade térmica e isolamento térmico), termomecânica (temperatura de deflexão sob aquecimento-HDT) e morfológica, com microscópio estéreo e aumento de 50 vezes para analisar a estrutura interna do corpo de prova, depois de fraturado pelo ensaio de impacto. Para análise das propriedades mecânicas dos corpos de provas, foram utilizadas como referência as normas ASTM D638-14, ASTM D790-10, ASTM D256-10 e a ASTM D-2240-15, para os ensaios de tração, flexão, impacto e dureza Shore D, respectivamente. Para as análises térmicas foi utilizada a norma ASTM E1530-11. Para o HDT, foi utilizada a norma ASTM D648-16. Os resultados mostraram influência de todos os parâmetros analisados nas propriedades dos compósitos. O uso de reforço (CE e CA) nos dois tipos de processos melhorou as propriedades de flexão e de resistência à tração em relação à matriz sem reforço e piorou as propriedades de resistência ao impacto e de dureza Shore D. Com relação à matriz sem reforço, a extrusora mostrou influência no ensaio de resistência à tração. Para adição de casca de eucalipto, o misturador termocinético (Drais) mostrou influência no ensaio de MOE. Já para adição de casca de arroz, a drais mostrou influência nos ensaios de flexão – MOR e MOE e na resistência à tração. Houve melhor adesão entre fibra e matriz nos compósitos confeccionados por extrusão em relação aos confeccionados na drais. As CE apresentaram melhor adesão com a matriz, em relação às CA. Os vazios – bolhas de ar foram observados em todos os tratamentos, com exceção dos tratamentos com ausência de reforço (BOPP 100). Esses vazios foram observados em maior proporção nos compósitos com CE em relação aos compósitos com CA, e também nos compósitos processados na extrusora em relação à drais. Os melhores resultados foram obtidos utilizando o misturador termocinético (Drais) e para as maiores proporções de cascas usadas ou na ausência delas. Porém, pelo fato de o processo utilizado na Drais ser por batelada, a extrusora se torna mais eficiente, levando em consideração o rendimento da produção. Os melhores resultados foram com a utilização de casca de eucalipto. Para os ensaios de flexão MOR, MOE e de resistência à tração, apresentaram interação entre os processos e os resíduos testados. Confirmou-se a viabilidade técnica de utilização de resíduos sólidos industriais (BOPP e CE) e agroindustrial (CA) na produção de compósitos fibra-polímero, sendo que o controle dos processos utilizados é fundamental para a qualidade do produto final. / The use of solid waste as raw material can considerably reduce the extraction of natural resources, thus reducing the impact on the environment. Among residues, plastics are among the most problematic ones because, even when they are properly disposed in landfills, they cause damage by forming a barrier layer which makes it difficult to compact the garbage, affecting the exchange of generated liquids and gases, reducing the efficiency of the biodegradation process of the organic matter. Before such problems, the objective of this work was to evaluate the technical feasibility of two types of processes, the double screw extruder and the thermokinetic mixer - dryser, in the production of BOPP (Bioriented metallized Polypropylene) composites, strengthened by residues of barks eucalyptus (CE) and rice (CA). From the mixtures among these residues 10 treatments have been prepared, from where the test bodies were extracted, molded by injection. Mechanical properties (flexurerupture modulus-MOR and elasticity modulus-MOE, tensile strength and impact strength towards Shore D hardness), as well as thermal (thermal conductivity and thermal insulation evaluation), thermo-mechanical (heat deflexion temperature-HDT) and morphological characteristics have been evaluated by using a stereo microscope and 50x magnification to analyze the internal structure of the test body, after being fractured by the impact test. For analyzing the mechanical properties of the proof bodies the standards ASTM D638-14, ASTM D790-10, ASTM D256-10 and ASTM D-2240-15 have been used as a reference for tensile, bending, impact and Shore D hardness tests, respectively. For the thermal analyzes, the ASTM E1530-11. For the HDT the ASTM D648-16 standard was used. The results showed the influence from all the analyzed parameters on the composites properties. The use of reinforcement (CE and CA) in both types of processes have improved the flexure and tensile strength properties in relation to the non-reinforced matrix and has worsened the impact strength properties as well as the Shore D hardness. Concerning the non-reinforced matrix, the extruder showed influence on the tensile strength test. For the addition of CE, the thermokinetic mixer - dryser has showed influence in the flexure modulus test. As for rice husk addition, dryser has showed influence in flexure (stress tests on maximum strengthMOR and elasticity modulus-MOE and tensile strength). There was a better adhesion between fiber and matrix, in the composites made by extrusion, compared to those made in the dryser. The CE has shown better adhesion with the matrix, compared to CA. The voids - air bubbles have been observed in all treatments with no reinforcement (BOPP 100). These voids have been more often observed in composites with CE, compared to the composites with CA and also in composites processed in the extruder, in relation to the dryser. The best results were obtained by using the thermokinetic mixer - dryser and for the largest proportions of the barks or in their absence. However, because the process used in Drais is by batch, the extruder becomes more efficient, taking into account the yield of the production. The best results have been from the use of CE. For flexure - MOR and MOE and tensile strength, there was an interaction among the processes and the tested residues. The technical feasibility of the use of industrial solid wastes (BOPP and CE) and agroindustrial (CA) in the production of fiberpolymer composites has been confirmed, and the control of the processes used is fundamental for the quality of the final product.

Abordagens ecoinovadoras para o desenvolvimento de novos produtosBreier, Guilherme Petry January 2015 (has links)
A demanda por recursos para o desenvolvimento de produtos se tornou uma importante área de pesquisa no início do século 21. O desperdício e o descarte de recursos, sem preocupação alguma com o meio ambiente, era uma atitude corriqueira, e sem grande importância para a sociedade global. Entretanto, o elevado custo para a extração de matérias-primas do meio ambiente, bem como a redução dos recursos no planeta, fez com que a indústria recorresse ao reaproveitamento de materiais ao longo de toda a cadeia de desenvolvimento de produtos bem como ao uso consciente de cada elemento. A partir da integração de conhecimentos das áreas de engenharia, foi identificada a necessidade de entender as influências das abordagens ecoinovadoras no desenvolvimento de produtos para a indústria. Assim essa tese tem por objetivo geral propor estratégias para desenvolvimento de produtos baseadas na ecoinovação como contribuição à melhoria da sustentabilidade de organizações. Os objetivos específicos são: (i) definir o conceito de ecoinovação através de uma pesquisa e avaliar exemplos brasileiros de acordo com sua definição; (ii) propor a criação de um produto ecoinovador através da aplicação dos conceitos de ecoeficiência e da filosofia ZERI; (iii) criar uma solução ecoinovadora para a geração de produtos desenvolvidos através do projeto berço-a-berço como alternativa para a redução dos resíduos sólidos; (iv) desenvolver e analisar as características físico-químicas de um compósito ecoinovador elaborado a partir de resíduos de casca de arroz e resíduos de MDF para aplicações de absorvedores de radiações eletromagnéticas; (v) criar um absorvedor piramidal de radiações eletromagnéticas baseado num compósito ecoinovador. Para atingir os objetivos desta tese foram utilizados, métodos e conhecimentos, para a geração de novos produtos com base em recursos obtidos através do reaproveitamento de resíduos. Também foram usadas estratégias que minimizam os impactos ambientais destes novos produtos concebidos no conceito da ecoinovação. Testes experimentais foram realizados com os produtos ecoinovadores desenvolvido por meio dessas abordagens. Os resultados envolveram a obtenção de conhecimento científico acerca do tema do desenvolvimento de produtos ecoinovadores para a melhoria da sustentabilidade de organizações, bem como protótipos, apresentados na forma de cinco estudos científicos. / The demand for resources to product development has become an important research area in the early 21st century Waste and the disposal of resources without any concern for the environment, was a commonplace attitude, and without great importance for society global. However, the high cost for the extraction of raw materials from the environment, and the reduction of resources on the planet, made the industry resort to reuse of materials throughout the product development chain and the conscious use of each element. From the integration of knowledge from engineering, we identified the need to understand the influences of ecoinovadoras approaches in product development for the industry. So this thesis has the objective to propose strategies for product development based on eco-innovation as a contribution to improving the sustainability of organizations. The specific objectives are: (i) define the concept of eco-innovation through research and evaluate Brazilian examples according to their definition; (ii) propose the creation of a ecoinovador product through the application of the concepts of eco-efficiency and ZERI philosophy; (iii) create a ecoinovadora solution for the production of products developed through the cradle-to-cradle design as an alternative to the reduction of solid waste; (iv) develop and analyze the physical and chemical characteristics of a ecoinovador composite made from rice husks and MDF waste for absorbers of electromagnetic radiation applications; (v) create a pyramidal absorber of electromagnetic radiation based on a composite ecoinovador. To achieve the objectives of this thesis were used, methodologies and knowledge to generate new products based on resources obtained through the reuse of waste. Also were used strategies that minimize the environmental impacts of these new products designed on the concept of eco-innovation. Experimental tests were performed with the ecoinovadores products developed through these approaches. The results involved obtaining scientific knowledge about ecoinovadores product development theme for improving the sustainability of organizations, as well as prototypes, presented as five scientific studies.

Manufacturing and experimental investigation of green composite materials / Κατασκευή και μελέτη σύνθετων υλικών φιλικών προς το περιβάλλονΚουτσομητοπούλου, Αναστασία 30 April 2014 (has links)
The aim of the present thesis is to explore sustainable low cost environmentally friendly composite materials.
It is a step by step experimental research. Firstly, taking under consideration the so far commercial available non-organic materials used as reinforcement and the petroleum based resins used as matrices, composite materials were fabricated and mechanically characterized. Different components in micro- and nano- scale were combined.
Afterwards, the non-organic materials used as reinforcements were substituted by different types of non conventional natural-based fillers. The fillers (corn starch and olive pit granules) were in powder form, derived from agricultural local resources and additionally flax fabric used to produce laminated composites. All the semi-green epoxy composites were characterized by means of three-point bending testing. Moreover, the manufactured composites were induced in several sources of damage and their residual properties were extensively investigated. More precisely, the effect of the strain-rate and low velocity impact as well as of thermal fatigue, on the mechanical properties of the olive pit and the flax fabric reinforced resin was studied.
Since, conventional and semi-green composite materials were fabricated and experimentally investigated, the final objective of the present thesis was to produce novel green composites materials by substituting the petroleum-based epoxy resin with a biodegradable derived from natural resources biopolyester. In order to accomplish this target, polylactic acid (PLA) was combined with olive pits in powder form at different concentrations.
Olive pits, is almost unknown non-traditional filler to composites, obtained during the oil extraction process. It is a raw material characterized by its low cost and its abundance, since it consists a waste product of the olive oil industry.
In order to successfully accomplish this part of research, experiments were taken place in France at the CMGD (Centre des Matériaux de Grande Diffusion) Institute of the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines d’ Alés, under the guidance of Prof. A. Bergeret within the framework of research cooperation with the main supervisor of this thesis, Prof. G. Papanicolaou.
The most important feature of the present green composites is their satisfactory mechanical and thermal performance in combination with their complete biodegradability. The PLA/olive pit composites could be applied to various components with moderate strength such as automotive interiors, interior building applications, durable goods, serviceware and food packaging material
The aim of this part of the study was to investigate the effect of three types of olive pit powder at different weights fractions on the physical and mechanical properties of polylactide (PLA) matrix composites. For the preparation of the powder, two different grinding procedures were applied, producing three types of olive pit powder. Various measurements were accomplished to determine characteristics such as the density and the size distribution and the shape of the powder.
Different PLA/ olive pits powder composites were manufactured by extrusion and injection molding. A comparative study between the different composites was made in order to investigate the matrix-filler interactions, occurring between the PLA and olive pit granules and their overall physical, mechanical and thermomechanical properties were investigated by means of TGA, FT-IR, DSC, SEM, flexural and uni-axial tensile testing.
Finally, theoretical predictive models were applied in most of the composite materials manufactured in the present work. These models making use of minimal number of experimental results can satisfactorily predict the residual properties of damaged materials, irrespectively of the type of the material investigated and the damage source. Namely, the Modulus Predictive Model (ΜPM), the Residual Properties Model (RPM) and the Residual Strength after Impact Model (RSIM), have been successfully applied.
A big number of interesting conclusions have been derived from the present work. However, a general conclusion is that a totally green composite with useful properties and applications is a promising target for the humanity and the planet survivability. / Σκοπός της παρούσας διδακτορικής διατριβής είναι η κατασκευή και μελέτη συνθέτων υλικών χαμηλού κόστους ενισχυμένων με φυσικά υλικά, φιλικά προς το περιβάλλον.
Η επίτευξη αυτού του στόχου πραγματοποιήθηκε σταδιακά. Αρχικά, πραγματοποιήθηκε μια εκτεταμένη μελέτη διαφορετικών συνθέτων υλικών τα οποία ήταν εξ’ ολοκλήρου κατασκευασμένα από ανόργανα και συνθετικά υλικά. Γι’ αυτό το σκοπό κατασκευάστηκαν και μελετήθηκαν οι μηχανικές ιδιότητες συνθέτων υλικών που έχουν ως μήτρα μια εμπορικά διαθέσιμη πετροχημική εποξειδική ρητίνη. Η εποξειδική ρητίνη ενισχύθηκε με ανόργανα υλικά σε μικρο- (συμπαγή και κενά σφαιρίδια γυαλίου) και νανο- (νανοσωλήνες άνθρακα πολλαπλού τοιχώματος) διαστάσεις.
Στη συνέχεια, βασιζόμενη στο ήδη υπάρχον επιστημονικό υπόβαθρο, καθώς η μεταπτυχιακή μου εργασία ειδίκευσης ήταν στο ίδιο ερευνητικό πεδίο με το αντικείμενο της διδακτορικής μου διατριβής, γίνεται προσπάθεια περαιτέρω εξέλιξης της έρευνας που σχετίζεται με την μελέτη και κατασκευή συνθέτων φιλικών προς το περιβάλλον.
Ως εκ τούτου, το επόμενο στάδιο της πειραματικής μελέτης στα πλαίσια εκπόνησης της διατριβής αυτής, ήταν η κατασκευή και χαρακτηρισμός, ως προς την μηχανική τους συμπεριφορά, συνθέτων υλικών πολυμερικής εποξειδικής μήτρας ενισχυμένης με διαφορετικού τύπου φυσικές ενισχύσεις και περιεκτικότητες.
Οι φυσικές ενισχύσεις που επιλέχθηκαν να μελετηθούν ήταν τόσο σε μορφή κόκκων και μικρο-ινών, όσο και σε μορφή υφάσματος. Τα εγκλείσματα που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν ήταν σκόνη από κόκκους ελαιοπυρήνα και σκόνη αμύλου καλαμποκιού. Στα σύνθετα υλικά ενισχυμένα με κόκκους ελαιοπυρήνα, έγινε μελέτη της επίδρασης των διαφορετικών ρυθμών παραμόρφωσης στις μηχανικές τους ιδιότητες, ενώ στα σύνθετα υλικά ενισχυμένα με την σκόνη αμύλου μελετήθηκαν εκτενώς οι στατικές μηχανικές τους ιδιότητες.
Επιπλέον, κατασκευάστηκαν πολύστρωτα σύνθετα υλικά χρησιμοποιώντας για τις διάφορες στρώσεις ύφασμα από ίνες λιναριού. Τα πολύστρωτα σύνθετα υλικά χαρακτηρίστηκαν ως προς τις μηχανικές τους ιδιότητες, υποβλήθηκαν σε θερμική κόπωση και υπέστησαν κρούση χαμηλής ενέργεια. Οι εναπομένουσες μηχανικές ιδιότητες των υλικών αυτών μελετήθηκαν τόσο πειραματικά όσο και θεωρητικά.
Ο απώτερος στόχος αυτής της διδακτορικής διατριβής ήταν να γίνει η δυνατή η κατασκευή συνθέτων υλικών τα οποία να είναι πλήρως βιοδιασπώμενα και φιλικά προς το περιβάλλον. Για το σκοπό αυτό, το τρίτο και τελευταίο στάδιο της έρευνας που διεξήχθη στα πλαίσια της παρούσας διατριβής, ήταν η κατασκευή εξολοκλήρου φυσικών συνθέτων υλικών έχοντας ως μήτρα ένα βιοδιασπώμενο πολυεστέρα φυτικής προέλευσης, το πολύ (γαλακτικό οξύ), ενισχυμένο με σκόνη από κόκκους ελαιοπυρήνα. Ο ξηρός ελαιοπυρήνας που χρησιμοποιήθηκε, αποτελεί μέρος των αποβλήτων που προκύπτουν από την διαδικασία παραγωγής ελαιολάδου. Ο ελαιοπυρήνας σε αυτή την μορφή έχοντας μηδαμινό κόστος απαντάται σε εξαιρετικά μεγάλες ποσότητες και σε σημαντικό ποσοστό εναποτίθεται στους περιβάλλοντα χώρους των μονάδων παραγωγής του ελαιολάδου.
Η ερευνητική εργασία που σχετίζεται με αυτό το αντικείμενο του διδακτορικού έλαβε χώρα στην Γαλλία στο École Nationale Supérieure des Mines d’ Alés, στο ερευνητικό ινστιτούτο CMGD (Centre des Matériaux de Grande Diffusion) υπό την επίβλεψη της καθηγήτριας A. Bergeret, στα πλαίσια ερευνητικής συνεργασίας του επιβλέποντα καθηγητή Γ. Παπανικολάου και της ερευνητικής του ομάδας.
Τα πειράματα που διεξήχθησαν στο ερευνητικό ινστιτούτο CMGD, περιελάμβαναν αρχικά την προετοιμασία των κόκκων του ελαιοπυρήνα στην κατάλληλη μορφή για να είναι δυνατή η χρησιμοποίησή τους ως ενισχυτικό υλικό. Έγινε κονιορτοποίηση των κόκκων από την οποία προέκυψαν δύο τύπου σκονών που διέφεραν ως προς την διασπορά του μεγέθους των κόκκων, ενώ μια τρίτη σκόνη ελαιοπυρήνα είχε ήδη προετοιμαστεί με διαφορετική μέθοδο κονιορτοποίησης στο τμήμα Επιστήμης των Υλικών του Πανεπιστήμιου Πατρών.
Έγινε εκτενής χαρακτηρισμός των φυσικών και μορφολογικών ιδιοτήτων όλων των σκονών ελαιοπυρήνα που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν για την κατασκευή των συνθέτων υλικών με μήτρα το PLA. Προσδιορίστηκαν διαφορετικού τύπου πυκνότητες και η διασπορά του μεγέθους των κόκκων. Έγινε θερμική ανάλυση με δοκιμή θερμοζυγού (TGA), μορφολογικός χαρακτηρισμός με χρήση ηλετρονικού μικροσκοπίου σάρωσης (SEM) καθώς και χαρακτηρισμός με φασματοσκοπία υπερύθρου με μετασχηματισμό Fourier (FT IR) και ακτίνων-Χ.
Αφού ολοκληρώθηκε ο χαρακτηρισμός των ιδιοτήτων της ενισχυτικής φάσης, στη συνέχεια κατασκευάστηκαν σύνθετα υλικά μήτρας PLA ενισχυμένα με τους κόκκους ελαιοπυρήνα σε διαφορετικές περιεκτικότητες. Η προετοιμασία των σύνθετων αυτών υλικών πραγματοποιήθηκε σε δύο στάδια. Αρχικά έγινε μια πρώτη μορφοποίηση με εξώθηση (extrusion). Τα σύνθετα υλικά που προέκυψαν από την εξώθηση που ήταν στη μορφή δισκίων (pellets) χαρακτηρίστηκαν και αυτά με διάφορες τεχνικές (WAXD, DSC, TGA).
Τα σύνθετα υλικά υπό μορφή δισκίων για να αποκτήσουν την τελική τους μορφή ως δοκίμια κατάλληλα για μηχανικές δοκιμές κατά τα πρότυπα ISO 527, μορφοποιήθηκαν με έγχυση (Injection molding). Τα σύνθετα υλικά στην τελική τους μορφή χαρακτηρίστηκαν με διάφορες τεχνικές (WAXD, DSC, TGA), έγινε χαρακτηρισμός των μηχανικών τους ιδιοτήτων και μορφολογική παρατήρηση των επιφανειών τους ύστερα από την μηχανική τους αστοχία (SEM).
Τέλος, σε πολλά από τα σύνθετα υλικά που κατασκευάστηκαν και μελετήθηκαν πειραματικά, εφαρμόστηκαν διαφορετικά ημιεμπειρικά μοντέλα ανάλυσης και πρόβλεψης της μηχανικής τους συμπεριφοράς. Στο κυρίως κείμενο της διδακτορικής διατριβής, περιγράφεται σε ξεχωριστό κεφάλαιο το σύνολο των θεωρητικών μοντέλων που εφαρμόστηκαν στα πειραματικά αποτελέσματα. Στα επιμέρους κεφάλαια που παρουσιάζονται και αναλύονται τα πειραματικά αποτελέσματα, παρατίθενται η σύγκρισή τους με τις αντίστοιχες προβλέψεις που πρόεκυψαν από την εφαρμογή των θεωρητικών μοντέλων.
Από τη σύγκριση αυτή παρατηρούμε ότι τα θεωρητικά μοντέλα που εφαρμόστηκαν που είναι το μοντέλο πρόβλεψης του μέτρου ελαστικότητας κοκκωδών υλικών, ΜPM (Modulus Predictive Model), το μοντέλο πρόβλεψης της υποβάθμισης ιδιοτήτων ύστερα από διαφορετικές είδους καταπονήσεις (θερμική κόπωση, κρούση χαμηλής ενέργειας και του ρυθμού παραμόρφωσης σε κάμψη τριών σημείων), RPM (Residual Properties Model) και το μοντέλο πρόβλεψης της υποβάθμισης της αντοχής των υλικών ύστερα από κρούση, Residual Strength after Impact Model (RSIM), έδωσαν ικανοποιητικές προβλέψεις για την μεταβολή των ιδιοτήτων κάνοντας χρήση ελάχιστων μόνο πειραματικών σημείων.
Στην παρούσα διατριβή συνδυάστηκαν δύο διαφορετικού τύπου πολυμερικές ρητίνες με πληθώρα ενισχυτικών υλικών για την κατασκευή και μελέτη της μηχανικής τους συμπεριφοράς, τόσο πειραματικά όσο και θεωρητικά με την εφαρμογή ημιεμπειρικών μοντέλων πρόβλεψης και ανάλυσης. Για την κατασκευή των δοκιμίων, ανάλογα με τον τύπο του υλικού της μήτρας και της ενίσχυσης, εφαρμόστηκαν διαφορετικές τεχνικές και σύνθετες πειραματικές διαδικασίες. Ενώ, για την μελέτη των μηχανικών, θερμομηχανικών και μορφολογικών τους ιδιοτήτων εφαρμόστηκε σημαντικός αριθμός διαφορετικών τεχνικών χαρακτηρισμού.
