The problem of the present study was threefold: 1) to devise a projective drawing analysis technique which would assess the operationally defined psychoanalytic concepts of id, ego, and superego, 2) to devise a preliminary scoring technique, and 3) to investigate the relationship between the drawings and the original clinical scales of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory.

Passive acoustic monitoring has been successfully used on many elasmobranch species, but no such study has yet been published for the whale shark (Rhincodon typus). In some ways this is surprising as the known whale shark aggregation sites would seem to be ideal targets for this method. For this dissertation, two acoustic studies were carried out in Saudi Arabia and Tanzania. Each was performed in parallel with visual surveys and the Saudi population was also studied using satellite telemetry. Sighting and acoustic data were compared at both sites, and the results were mixed. The acoustic monitoring largely confirmed the results of visual surveys for the Saudi Arabian sharks, including seasonality, residency and a degree of parity and integration between the sexes that is unique to this site. Satellite tracks of tagged Saudi sharks were used to confirm that some animals migrated away from the aggregation site before returning in subsequent seasons, confirming philopatric behavior in this species. In contrast, the acoustic results in Tanzania demonstrated year-round residency of whale sharks in the area, despite seasonal declines in visually estimated abundance. Seasonal changes in habitat selection render the sharks at this site temporarily cryptic to visual sampling. The differing results are compelling because both the philopatric behavior demonstrated in Saudi Arabia and the cryptic residency of the Tanzanian sharks could explain the seasonal patterns in whale shark abundances reported at other aggregation sites. Despite their differences, both sites in this study can be classified as secondary whale shark nurseries and each may be a vital feeding ground for its respective population.

Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / I address state voter identification laws and test to see if they cause lower voter turnout. My hypothesis states a significance that voter ID laws have in determining voter turnout in each state’s election. The focus is on each of the fifty states elections and examines them from 2000 through 2016. With voter ID laws being the independent variable and turnout a control variable, the study was able to determine a statistical significance between the two. There is no readily available data table for voter ID laws, the table created will advance any further research done within voter ID laws.

Instruktionsdesign (ID), en medveten och systematisk planering av instruktioner, samt användning av ID-modeller som stöd i planeringsarbetet är inte vida kända bland språklärare trots nyttan med dess användning. Inom ID är modellen ADDIE det vanligaste sättet att strukturera undervisning efter. Syftet med den här studien är att undersöka svenska som andraspråkslärares planering av distansundervisning samt synliggöra planeringenskomponenter med hjälp av ADDIE. Att synliggöra ADDIE ger läraren möjlighet att granska strukturer i sitt planeringsarbete och på ett mer medvetet sätt arbeta med planeringsarbetets utvalda delar. I studien utförs tre semistrukturerade intervjuer med lärare som distansundervisar svenska som andraspråk på grundläggande nivå inom kommunal vuxenutbildning (sas-grund). Resultatet visar planeringsarbetets utmaningar i skolformen sas-grund, men styrker också tidigare fynd att lärarna är ovana att beskriva grundstrukturer i sina resonemang samt brukar inte ta tillvara ADDIE:s sista fas evaluering till att utveckla sin kurs.
