Esta dissertação aborda a relação entre os conceitos de fronteira e de extinção na representação da tradição e da modernidade rural no romance de Thomas Hardy, Tess of the DUrbervilles, publicado em 1891. Em três partes, a pesquisa busca conhecer e indicar alguns limites e problemas de dois elementos da estética hardyana apresentados pela crítica como fundamentais: a idealização romântica do espaço natural e da personagem rústica por meio do uso de alegorias (bíblicas, mitológicas), apelo ao sentimento da natureza, recurso às fantasias e crenças locais , bem como o realismo empregado pelo autor na representação do cotidiano da vida e do trabalho rural que se conjuga com as prerrogativas da modernização, comuns de seu tempo. A pesquisa, então, chama a atenção para uma via estética singular nesse romance de Hardy, que parece bascular as fronteiras das duas medidas mencionadas e dá ao autor uma posição artística não exclusiva, mas bastante interessante e rica, que coopera para a compreensão das formas de representação e interpretação da realidade rural no fim do século XIX. / This dissertation approaches the relationship between the concepts of border and extinction on the representation of the traditions and the rural modernity in the romance written by Thomas Hardy, Tess of the DUrbervilles, published in 1891. Divided in three parts, the research seeks to know and point some limits and problems in two elements of Hardys aesthetics presented by the critic reviews as fundamentals: the romantic idealisation of the natural space and of the rustic personage through the usage of allegories (biblical and mythologys), appeal to the nature sentiment, recourse to fantasies and local behaves as well as realism employed by the author in the representation of the quotidian of life and rural work which marries with prerogatives of common modernisation at his time. The research, so, claims the attention to a singular aesthetic path in this Hardys romance that seems to tilt the boundaries of the two mentioned measures and gives the author an artistic position, non-exclusive, but interesting and rich enough to cooperate to the comprehension of representation models and interpretation of the rural reality at the end of the nineteenth century.

Her written works on rocks talk by themselves and affect the one who gazes them. This research was born in this relational field of the work done with the contemplator s eye. I sought the sculptor s biography only afterwards. I was supported by historical conditions and, mainly, by the work itself, it raised me the opening to a psychoanalytical reading about it, as well as, about its effects on my own subjectivity. In this study I describe the route of my floating theorizations as I saw the work and read Camille Caudel s biography. A visible and sensitive work does not limit itself to what is realized, but it leads the contemplator s eye to a visible and, therefore to a tellable. I will talk about the sublimation, the symptom, and the idealization, using a Freudian psychoanalytical referential and, to talk about passion, alienation and the asymmetrical relationships, I will support my work on Piera Aulagnier. Two basic theoretical supports will be enough for my research at this moment / A presente dissertação se propõe a uma leitura flutuante das esculturas obras escritas em pedras, da escultora francesa Camille Claudel (1864 1943). Suas obras escritas nas pedras falam por si só e afetam quem as contemplam. Nesse campo relacional da obra feita com os olhos do contemplador, que nasceu esta pesquisa. Só posteriormente busquei a biografia da escultora. Apoiando-me nas condições históricas e, principalmente, na própria obra, esta me suscitou a abertura para uma leitura psicanalítica, bem como, de seus efeitos sobre a minha própria subjetividade. Neste estudo descrevo o percurso de minhas teorizações flutuantes, conforme via a obra e lia a biografia de Camille Claudel. Uma obra visível e sensível não se limita ao que se percebe, mas leva o olho do contemplador a um visível e, portanto, a um dizível. Direi da sublimação, do sintoma e da idealização, usando um referencial psicanalítico freudiano e, para dizer da paixão, da alienação e das relações assimétricas, me apoiarei na obra de Piera Aulagnier. Dois suportes teóricos básicos serão suficientes para a minha pesquisa, neste momento

The importance of language in a literary work building process is well recognized but, in practice, the language has received relatively little treatment in an area that plays an essential role. As Minas de Prata, work published in mid-nineteenth century, in the context of the political independence of Brazil, as part of a cultural and political project, reveals its author's efforts to build a hero that represents optimal values for Brazilian developing community. The idealization concerns the use of certain culturally contextualized linguistic choices showing some facts while hiding others in order to guide the reader s construction of meaning. It will be linguistically examined in terms of Appraisal, a system that deals with the writer's position in relation to the message and to the caller considering: Affection, Ethical Judgment of People and Assessment Aesthetic of Objects, proposed by Systemic Functional Grammar (SFG). This theory allows the relationship between linguistic microstructure of Alencar s text and the macro-structure of the speech, in which idealization appears, and is supported by the three simultaneous meanings constructed by language: information, interaction, and text construction. The SFG includes the Critical Linguistics for which any aspect of linguistic structure carries ideological significance. The study answers the following questions: (a) how does the idealization of the hero in As Minas de Prata is carried out? (b) What lexicogrammatical choices are made in terms of Ideational and Interpersonal Metafunctions to express this idealization? É reconhecida a importância da língua no processo de construção da obra literária, mas, na prática, a língua tem recebido um tratamento relativamente pequeno, justamente em uma área em que tem papel essencial. As Minas de Prata, obra publicada em meados do século XIX, no contexto da independência política do Brasil, como parte de um projeto cultural e político, revela esforços do seu autor para construir um herói que represente valores ideais para a comunidade brasileira nascente. A idealização diz respeito ao uso de certas escolhas linguísticas culturalmente contextualizadas, mostrando certos fatos ao mesmo tempo em que se ocultam outros, como forma de orientar a construção de sentido por parte dos leitores; será examinada linguisticamente em termos da Avaliatividade, um sistema que trata do posicionamento do escritor em relação à mensagem e ao interlocutor, em termos de: Afeto, Julgamento ético de pessoas e Apreciação estética de objetos, proposto pela Gramática Sistêmico- Funcional (GSF). Essa teoria permite fazer a relação entre a microestrutura linguística do texto alencariano com a macroestrutura do discurso, em que se encontra a idealização, e assim o faz apoiando-se nos três significados simultâneos construídos pela linguagem: a informação, a interação e a construção do texto. A GSF inclui em seu bojo a Linguística Crítica, para a qual, qualquer aspecto da estrutura linguística carrega significação ideológica. A pesquisa responde às seguintes perguntas: (a) Como se realiza a idealização do herói em As Minas de Prata? (b) Que escolhas léxicogramaticais são feitas, em termos das Metafunções Ideacional e Interpessoal para expressar essa idealização? As advantageous and practical as this process is, there is a great incidence of disappointment amongst some people, and also of unrestrained conduct on the Internet. My interest in studying these aspects stemmed from the fact that many people are disappointed by relationships that begin virtually because they idealize the other person in the relationship. Furthermore, some Internet users seem not to distinguish fact from fantasy, as they behave without perceiving the possible risks they are exposed to. Hence, the hypothesis of this study was to reflect on the possibilities offered by the Internet that enable idealization and acting out, in some cases. Through examples of relationships that put these facts into context, I have identified that the Internet favors the emergence of transference, as anonymity suspends alterity and allows the individual to say whatever they want in an artificial atmosphere similar to that in the analytical setting. In the process of investigation I discovered that many people, through their incapacity for symbolic contention, show their drive to be manifested in reality, operating indiscriminately with the contribution of the virtual other who offers themselves to be experienced as an object of the transference. Likewise, as in the virtual space there is an overlaying of real and virtual, borderline individuals, in not discriminating between fact and fantasy, shall move about these two spaces without conflict, illustrating that for them there is no difference between what they experience online and offline. Therefore, the Internet, in being virtual, blends with this form of subjectivity and can be experienced in conciliation with each person's emotional experience. The virtual has a seductive nature in presenting an infinite range of possibilities, so favoring both idealization of partners and acting out / Entre tantas vantagens, a Internet possibilita uma nova maneira de os indivíduos buscarem parceiros para relacionamentos afetivos. Embora, esse recente processo seja vantajoso e prático, ocorre uma grande incidência de desapontamento entre algumas pessoas, e mesmo de comportamentos desmesurados dos indivíduos na rede. Meu interesse em estudar esses aspectos partiu da constatação de que muitas pessoas se decepcionam nos relacionamentos iniciados virtualmente porque idealizam o outro da relação. Além disso, alguns internautas parecem não distinguir fantasia e realidade, pois se comportam sem a percepção dos possíveis riscos a que ficam expostos. Sendo assim, a hipótese do presente trabalho foi refletir sobre as possibilidades oferecidas pela Internet que facilitam a idealização e a atuação em alguns casos. Por meio de exemplos de relacionamentos que contextualizam esses fatos constatei que a Internet favorece a emergência do fenômeno da transferência, pois o anonimato deixa a alteridade suspensa, e possibilita ao indivíduo dizer tudo o que desejar numa atmosfera artificial semelhante ao que ocorre no setting analítico. No conduto da investigação constatei que muitos, pela incapacidade de contenção simbólica, mostram que a excitação pulsional manifesta-se com intensidade no real, atuando de forma indiscriminada com a contribuição do outro virtual que se oferece para ser vivido como objeto da transferência. Da mesma forma, já que no espaço virtual há uma superposição entre real e virtual, os indivíduos que têm as barreiras do eu mal definidas bordeline , por indiscriminarem fantasia e realidade, transitarão nesses dois espaços sem conflitos evidenciando que para esses não há diferença do que se vive online e offline. Portanto, a Internet, por ser virtual, se harmoniza com essa forma de subjetividade, e pode ser vivida em conciliação com a experiência emocional de cada um. O espaço virtual tem um caráter sedutor por apresentar uma infinidade de possibilidades favorecendo, assim, tanto a idealização dos parceiros quanto a atuação
