Previous issue date: 2015-03-31 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This thesis examines the reggae history in the region of three municipalities of the
state of Paraiba, Brasil (João Pessoa, Cabedelo and Campina Grande), while also
identifying and describing artists and bands of the present scene. The focus of this
thesis is to analyse how the concept of metaphor influences the expression and
(re)construction of identity in the reggae practiced in the surveyed area. The survey
was conducted on three levels (ethnographical, musicological and technicallinguistic),
using techniques of the fieldwork (interviews, observations and informal
conversations), musicological analysis, and technical and linguistic analysis of four
songs of bands from the surveyed area. The interconnectivity between the linguistic
metaphors (analysed by King and Jensen, 1995) and the metaphorical nature of reggae
(analysed by Rice, 2003) were observed in this study. The analysis showed that
reggae of the great João Pessoa discusses social topics and the field of entertainment,
trying to enter into a reality where other musical practices prevail. Since the metaphor
affects our thoughts, experiences of reality and the ways in which we act, the
importance of metaphorical language in reggae and reggae as a metaphor by itself
play an important role in the process of expression and construction of identities in
the context of reggae scene in the area of João Pessoa, Cabedelo and Campina
Grande. / Este trabalho traz uma investigação da trajetória do reggae na região de três
municípios do estado da Paraíba, Brasil (João Pessoa, Cabedelo e Campina Grande),
identificando e descrevendo artistas e bandas do cenário atual.
As análises

Realita a postmodernismus ve hrách Marka Ravenhilla / Reality and Postmodernism in the Plays of Mark RavenhillKrejčí, Patrik January 2019 (has links)
Thesis Abstract The thesis aims to explore how Mark Ravenhill's plays engage with postmodern themes and techniques, while tracking the development of associated experimental tendencies. This development cannot be accurately perceived chronologically, therefore what the thesis does instead is to group connected phenomena thematically, while making sure to stress the gradation that is perceptible over the course of Ravenhill's career. To achieve such a goal, several plays have been selected and arranged based on their focus and the level of experimentation present within them. The plays of principal importance are: Shopping and Fucking (1996), Some Explicit Polaroids (1999), Faust (Faust Is Dead) (1997), Handbag (1998), Mother Clap's Molly House (2001), Product (2005), Pool (No Water) (2006) and The Experiment (2010). The first three listed plays are not formally experimental themselves, yet they instead provide a sound theoretical background for the close reading of the remaining plays. This includes especially Ravenhill's treatment of the concept of postmodernity and its social impact. The analysis of the other, generally younger plays pursues the practical application of the insight gained in the introductory plays. Hence, what is theoretically implied at first is applied not only thematically, but...

Tři kmenové svazy Polabských Slovanů. Analýza vývoje slovanského etnika mezi Labem, Odrou a Krušnými horami. / Three Polabian Slavs' Confederations of Tribes. Analysis of the development of the Slavic Ethnic Group between Elbe, Oder and Ore Mountains.Tomášek, Jan January 2022 (has links)
Submitted thesis deals with selected points from the development of the tribal society of the Polabian Slavs in the area called Slavic Polabia, i.e. the area between the Ore Mountains and the Lusatian Mountains in the south, rivers Elbe and Saale in the west, Baltic Sea in the north and river Oder in the east. The thesis is divided into the introduction and four longer chapters; together, they introduce the forms and manners of the medieval tribal society. The introduction defines the aims and methodology of the thesis, while also emphasizing the necessity to observe the diversity of each tribal societies, even in the context of the Slavic Polabia, which was supposed to be a home of the three big tribal societies or tribal confederations. Because of the differencies in the socio-political development of these three tribal confederations, the first chapter introduced its own proposition of periodization of the Polabian Slavs' history. This proposition is not based on the traditional criteria used by the older and contemporary medieval studies relying on the external factors, level of social differentiation or structural changes in the political system. The proposed periodization set a few development phases, which each of the tribal societies either passed or never reached. In its three parts (head,...
