Les œuvres pour piano de Mario Ruiz Armengol / The piano works of Mario Ruiz Armengol (1914-2002)

Barrientos, Flora 28 June 2013 (has links)
The Mexican composer, Mario Ruiz Armengol (1914-2002), wrote more than two hundred excellent compositions for the piano. Although his work is part of the Mexican pianists’ repertoire, has been recorded, published and studied in three university researches as well as in a biography, Mexican musicology has tendered not to focus on his work. It is for this reason that I decided to focus on the musical analysis of his piano works in order to situate him in the musical context of the twentieth century concert composers. The introduction apart from highlighting the biographical aspects surrounding his career including the different facets he demonstrated as a composer, also gives a brief summary of his works. In the three main chapters: Analysis, Style and Influences, I demonstrate with musical examples how he composed his piano works, his development, the contributions he made to Mexican piano music, the different genres that he explored, how his style may be defined, as well as the influences on his work. Finally, in the conclusion I situate his work in the twentieth century musical context. In addition, I included in the Appendix a series of unpublished interviews with different Mexican musicians who knew him or continue to present his work. In sum, the main aim of this thesis is not only to introduce this composer and his work to other countries, but also to motivate other Mexican musicologists to study his work. Finally, this thesis also marks the beginning of the centenary celebrations of his birth in 2014.

A presença do compositor brasileiro em recitais de piano na cidade de São Paulo (1925-1965) / The presence of brazilian composer on piano recitals at city of São Paulo (1925-1965)

Fernandes, Nina Rosa de Almeida Lopes 05 November 2014 (has links)
From the comparative analysis of the repertoire of piano recitals, found in the newspapers of the city of São Paulo during the years of 1925, 1935, 1945, 1955 and 1965, we tried to identify what was the kind of musical taste of that age, concerning the pieces for piano. We also tried to figure out what was the space occupied by national composers in these recitals. Consequently, it was possible to notice the presence of a group of composers and pianists having Mário de Andrade as the master mind of them. The collected data suggests that the frequency of these composers did not exceed, at any time, one third of the repertoire in that period, which leads us to conjecture that the national composer occupied a marginal place in the classical music scene of that epoch.

Klavírní dílo Alexandra Moyzese (1906-1984) v dobovém kontextu / Piano Works by Alexander Moyzes (1906-1984) in their Historical Context

Čerbová, Zuzana January 2017 (has links)
The magister thesis is connected with bachelor's thesis, which was concentrated on Piano Sonata in E minor, op. 2 by Slovak composer Alexander Moyzes (1906-1984) and was concerned on it mainly with collected sources. In this thesis we decided to point out its composing work and possible inspiring sources and therefore the focus of this diploma thesis is its introduction into historical context of piano music of the 19th and 20th centuries. Through composite-technical and stylistic analyses of selected piano sonatas and other works, we want to contribute to the closer characterization of Moyzes composer's personality and to complement the literature that Moyzes Sonate has devoted to in minimal terms from composing work and inspiring sources. Selected pieces include: Brahms Sonata f mol, Op. 5 and Variation and Fugue on a Theme by Handel, op. 24 from the point of view of means of piano stylization, Sonata Eroica, op. 24 for piano by Vít zslav Novák because of their mutual interest in working with modality and mutual close relationships (Moyzes's teacher). In addition to these goals, we will also focus on the other piano works of Moyzes by creating a new chronological inventory based on preserved sources. Key words: Alexander Moyzes, Piano Sonata in E minor op. 2, Johannes Brahms, Vít zslav Novák,...

Překonávání potíží u žáků základních uměleckých škol studujících hru na klavír za použití moderních výukových metod / Tackling Primary Music School Students'Practicing Issues Using Contemporary Piano Teaching Methods

Hu, Beibei January 2017 (has links)
Presented master thesis tackles common piano practicing issues among students at the first stage of piano learning. The main purpose of the study is to investigate the difficulties that block students' progress, and analyze proper approaches that improve students' musical capabilities. The practicing issues are scientifically categorized into three categories: technical, interpretative and general practicing and performing issues, and are further analyzed from physical, psychological, and most importantly, educational perspective. In addition, contemporary piano teaching methods from various countries are explored and various methodologies and teaching philosophies are investigated and presented. Effective approaches, suitable strategies and practicing suggestions are provided in the study for both teachers and learners. Chinese piano educators can use this study to enrich their teaching methodologies and to develop new piano teaching methods.

A Comparative Analysis of the Orchestral and Piano Versions of Finlandia by Jean Sibelius in Relation to His Compositional Style, 1899–1904

Teppo, Ruusamari 05 1900 (has links)
While he was composing his important orchestral tone poem Finlandia in 1899–1900, Jean Sibelius (1865–1957) made his own piano arrangement of it. The purpose of this study is to compare the piano arrangement and orchestral version and to see further the similarities with Sibelius's other piano compositions from the same time period (1899-1904). Through this study I have found compositional patterns, which are typical for the composer and defined his composition style for piano during his "Kalevala-Romantic" phase. Sibelius's piano style was characterized as unpianistic and bulky by some. However, through my research I can show that with an analysis of certain harmonic structures, subtle use of pedal and correct voicings, his piano texture is indeed very thoughtful and transparent with a clear focus on counterpoint while remaining pianistic and comfortable to play. In order to fully understand the idiosyncrasies of the two versions of Finlandia, a detailed comparative analysis of the piano and orchestral scores is necessary. For this purpose, I primarily used the printed scores of both the piano and orchestral versions. In addition, the manuscript of the piano version of Finlandia was consulted as an important resource. From the orchestra manuscript, only one page has been found. The analysis focuses on the comparison between the textures of both versions, the score and the piano arrangement. I also applied the results of the comparison to the other scores of Sibelius's piano compositions from that time period to show his consistency in his use of the described arrangement techniques. With using the orchestration possibilities of the piano Sibelius's writing allows the instrument to stand completely on its own using all the possibilities of the piano sound while maintaining a highly pianistic texture. The goal of my research is to provide insight to understanding Sibelius's early piano style, introduce some performance practice ideas appropriate to this period, and highlight his smaller-scale works such as the character pieces and songs of this period.

Klavírní dílo Josefa Bohuslava Foerstera / The Piano Works of Josef Bohuslav Foerster

Havlíček, Zdeněk January 2013 (has links)
Zdeněk Havlíček The Piano Works of Josef Bohuslav Foerster (The Lyrical Piano Pieces of the Turn of the Century) ABSTRACT: The presented thesis deals with the piano works of Josef Bohuslav Foerster - in detail, it is concerned with his lyrical piano pieces from the turn of the century. After mapping out the relevant Foerster-related literature and sources, it approaches the issue of lyrical piano piece as a music genre, and gives a relatively detailed outline of its development in the 19th century. This becomes a background against which, at some points, the nature of the analyzed pieces is to be shown. In the analysis of the piano cycle "Snění" ("Dreamings", 1898), the motivic and thematic processes are the main object, the analysis of the cycle "Růže vzpomínek" ("Roses of Memories", 1902) is dominated by the aspect of harmony and also takes into consideration the context of the various piano genres employed. From the cycle "A jabloně kvetly" ("And the Apple trees blossom", 1905), only the first piece ("Dream") is closely observed. Finally, an attempt is made to discuss the piano works in question in broader musical-historical and musical- historiographical contexts.
