Entretanto, a conceituação de games independentes é apresentada na literatura através de um complexo emaranhado de definições que divergem entre si. Esta pesquisa pretende então compreender qual o sentido de independência no contexto de atividades culturais e como ele se traduz no campo de jogos. Para tal, primeiramente será realizado um estudo da cultura independente mais ampla que buscará perceber como se dá sua conceituação, como ela se transforma com o passar dos anos e quais as ideias e práticas que perpetua. Nesse momento, serão observados importantes cenários alternativos (contracultura da déc. de 60 e Punk) assim como a produção de zines, publicações que alimentam as comunidades indies. Esse estudo inicial - que tem o intuito de encontrar as características comuns às manifestações independentes - servirá como base para a análise posterior da produção independente de jogos que tem o objetivo de verificar como os desenvolvedores praticam a independência. A pesquisa indica que o universo de jogos descrito como indie é bastante amplo e heterogêneo, mas que nele, é possível encontrar game designers que compartilham de muitos dos ideais e comportamentos propagados pela cultura independente ao longo do tempo. / In recent years the independent game sector has grown exponentially, gaining recognition from the audience, the press and the market. However, the concept of independent games is presented in the literature through a complex maze of definitions that differ from each other. This research aims to understand then what is the sense behind the independence in cultural activities and how it translates on the game industry. For that, at first, a study about the broad independente culture will be conducted, which will seek to comprehend how its conceptualization is given, how it changes over the years and what ideas and practices are perpetuated by it. At this context, important alternative scenarios will be observed (the counterculture of the sixties and the Punk movement), as well as the production of zines, publications that feed the indie communities. This initial study - which intends to find the common characteristics of the independent manifestations - will serve as a basis for the further analysis of the production of indie games, that will have the purpose of seeing how developers practice independence. This research indicates that the gaming universe described as indie is broad and heterogeneous, but that it carries game designers who share many of the ideals and behaviors spread by the independent culture over time

The goal of this work is to give an overview about the conditions surrounding travel industry in India. The first chapter defines the academical framework, the second chapter introduces India as a travel destination and also introduces basic information about the country. The analysis of the conditions itself begins in the third chapter and is followed in the fourth by insight into the current status quo. The fifth chapter consists of the analysis of travel possibilities to India and the last chapter concludes the work with a study conducted among Czech respondents, which was focused on their views of India as a travel destination.

The aim of this thesis entitled Czech exporters opportunities in the Indian market is to provide these exporters enough information to evaluate the attractiveness of this market, an overview of the opportunities as well as how to penetrate this market. The first chapter focuses on general information about the Republic of India and demographic characteristics of the country. The next chapter deals with political and economic development of the country. The third chapter is concerned with foreign trade of the Republic of India. The fourth chapter continues with the mutual trade of the Czech Republic and India, and the last chapter is focused on opportunities for Czech exporters in the Indian market as well as the cultural differences of India in relation to successful business meetings with Indian business partners.

The Oscar indie : examining the rise in success of independent films at the Academy Awards

The goal of this study is to understand the institutional and cultural relationship between modern American independent film and the Academy Awards by focusing on the rise in success for independent films from 1992-2007. Two are two main approaches implemented throughout the work. The first focuses on the cultural construction of the indie brand on certain films during this time and the second analyzes how a production or distribution company tries to strategize the marketing of their films to boost their Oscar chances. These approaches allow a conversation for the occurrences of when these two meet and provide a coherent film identity I have identified as an “Oscar indie.” Starting with Miramax in the 1990s and ending with the Oscar race of 2007-08 a trend can be found which shows a rise in success of “indie” branded films at the Academy Awards. The implications of this trend are as simple as more “indie” films being released each year and as complicated as changing the face of the American film industry as a whole. / text

MAKE IT INDIE : Att producera och släppa musik på egen hand

This independent study has the intention of bringing forward increased knowledge about  methods that may be used by an artist, music producer or songwriter in order to reach out with their own music independently without a record company being involved. Through artistic research, four musical pieces have been produced of which two consequently were released on different digital music streaming platforms. The study includes on one hand the process of creating the music, and on the other hand the entrepreneurship regarding the music release, i.e. the digital distribution and even subjects regarding publishing rights and marketing. The result of the study is presented as actual sound recordings and also in an analysis of how the music was received by the listeners on the different digital platforms. The conclusion of this study shows that the fastest and easiest way of obtaining many stream listenings (for example on Spotify) was to succeed in getting the music included on Spotifys own playlists. More followers of a playlist means more listeners. The more streams the song gets the more lists it can get included on. In conclusion the discussion contains the skills needed in order to release music and secure royalties for the artistic effort. / Detta självständiga arbete syftar till att bidra till ökad kunskap om metoder för att som artist, musikproducent och låtskrivare publicera och nå ut med sin musik på egen hand, utan att vara signad till ett skivbolag. Genom konstnärligt utforskande har fyra verk komponerats och producerats och denna musik har sedan släpps digitalt på olika musikstreamingplattformar. Arbetet innehåller både en del om det konstnärliga skapandet och en del om entreprenörskapet i publiceringen av musiken, alltså om den digitala distributionen av musiken men även om rättigheter och marknadsföring. Resultatet av arbetet redovisas dels klingande, i bilagd ljudinspelning, och dels i en analys av hur musiken togs emot på de olika digitala plattformarna. Det visade sig att det snabbaste och lättaste sättet att få många lyssningar på t.ex. Spotify var att få låten placerad på deras egna spellistor. Ju fler följare en spellista har desto fler lyssningar får låten. Ju fler lyssningar låten får desto fler listor hamnar låten på, till exempel i form av användares Discovery Weekly-listor. Avslutningsvis diskuteras flera av de färdigheter som behövs för att på egen hand kunna släppa sin musik och få in intäkter för den.

The thesis introduces gathered Indian castes that are known as Doms. The Dom castes are considered to be the groups in where Roma originated. The thesis is a case study of particular localities of the North-Indian region Kumaon (Uttarakhand province). The thesis focuses on the daily life of local Dom groups, their position in the caste system, and also targets the professions they are performing. It further targets the practices performed during choosing the partner and also focuses on their religious ideas about the world around them. Finally it itroduces the parallels, that can be found between Doms and Roma.

Goal of this diploma thesis is to indentify social and cultural aspects of management and the work environment in India. It is concerned with perception of the indian management and work environment of the indian companies by representatives of the czech culture. The thesis analyses problematic areas in the communication and interaction of both cultures. The problems are different peception of time, time managemnt, strategic planning, autoritative leading, formal communication, motivating and different view on emancipation. The result of the research are few advices to representatives of both cultures regarding problematic areas which are mentioned above, for example manager training, teambuildings, etc.
