This report describes the design and construction of a tilting platform for sorting household waste, limited to plastic, glass, and metal. The platform utilizes a capacitive sensor to identify if an object is placed on the platform, an inductive sensor to detect metal, and a load cell to differentiate between plastic and glass based on their weight difference. The load cell was found to be inaccurate due to sensitivity to physical changes in the environment and sensor placement, leading to inaccurate weight measurements. Relocating the sensors away from the load cell is recommended to improve accuracy. The platform tilts using to two servomotors, which makes the platform tilt in two degrees of freedom. This solution worked as thought out, except for the universal joint having poor quality, resulting in a wobbly motion. / Denna rapport beskriver designen och konstruktionen av en vippande plattform för sortering av hushållsavfall begränsat till plast, glas och metall. Plattformen använder en kapacitiv sensor för att identifiera om ett föremål placeras på den, en induktiv sensor för att detektera metall och en lastcell för att skilja mellan plast och glas baserat på deras viktskillnad. Lastcellen visade sig vara opålitlig på grund av dess känslighet för fysiska förändringar i miljön och placeringen av sensorerna, vilket ledde till felaktiga viktmätningar. Det rekommenderas att flytta sensorerna bort från lastcellen för att förbättra noggrannheten. Den lutande funktionen drivs av två servomotorer som var funktionell men hade en ostadig rörelse på grund av dåliga universal joints.

The first two chapters are devoted to general issues relating to the Achilles tendon and brings important insights that are required for subsequent practical part. To the practical part is also devoted the following chapter. The first chapter is more of a medical nature. It explains the function and location of the Achilles tendon. Above all, the nature of the examination. Then follow chapters dealing with the assembly of functional devices for sensing the Achilles tendon reflex. This section begins in the third chapter discusses the preparation and block diagrams for the sensor and its technical solutions. The following chapter is about constructing electrical circuits, calculation of component values for the device of Achilles tendon reflex. The fifth chapter deals with the ability to view the scanned signal and the final chapter is devoted to measurements of the device on a group of volunteers.

Hochtemperaturmagnetlager in Turbomaschinen erfordern Lagesensoren, die den Umgebungsbedingungen ebenfalls dauerhaft standhalten und den Lagereglern hinreichend genaue und störungsfreie Informationen über die Rotorpositionen kontinuierlich zur Verfügung stellen. Ausgehend von den Einsatzbedingungen wurden mögliche Messprinzipien untersucht. In einem zweiten Schritt erfolgte die Recherche zu temperaturbeständigen Werkstoffen für die Sensorkomponenten und auf Basis einer Marktanalyse wurde deren Verfügbarkeit geprüft. Im Anschluss wurde ein kombinierter induktiver Radial-Axial-Lagesensor als Prototyp für den Einsatz am Magnet- und Fanglagerprüfstand MFLP ausgelegt. Dazu wurde ein analytischer Auslegungsalgorithmus für schnelle Auslegungsrechnungen erstellt und in MATLAB umgesetzt. Aufbauend auf den Ergebnissen der Auslegung wurde der Sensor konstruiert und gefertigt. Parallel dazu wurde eine Sensorelektronik entwickelt. Das Paper beschreibt die Auslegung und Konstruktion des Sensors und die Entwicklung der dazugehörigen Elektronik. / High-temperature magnetic bearings in turbomachinery require position sensors that can also withstand the ambient conditions permanently. This measurement system continuously provide the position controllers with sufficiently accurate and interference-free information about the rotor positions. Based on the operating conditions, suitable measurement principles were investigated. Furthermore suitable temperature-resistant materials for the sensor components were identified and their availability was checked based on a market analysis. Subsequently, a combined inductive radial-axial position sensor was developed. The demonstrator was designed for air gap measurements at the MFLP - a test rig for magnetic and backup bearings. For this purpose, an analytical design algorithm for fast design calculations was created and implemented in MATLAB. Based on the design results, the sensor was designed and manufactured. In parallel, sensor electronics were developed. The paper describes the design and construction of the sensor and the development of the associated electronics.

Orientador: Jozué Vieira Filho / Banca: Carlos Antonio Alves / Banca: Tony Inácio da Silva / Resumo: A automação de esteiras rolantes é algo comum e importante em sistemas industriais, mas problemas práticos ainda representam desafios. Um dos desses desafios é manter a precisão em sistemas que exigem paradas sistemáticas, pois folgas mecânicas tendem a provocar variações nas posições de paradas ao longo do tempo. A aplicação de motores de indução têm se tornado comum e soluções eficientes e de baixo custo têm sido pesquisadas. Neste trabalho foi desenvolvido e implementado um sistema de controle de posição e velocidade aplicado em esteiras transportadoras utilizando inversor de frequência, microcontrolador, encoder óptico incremental e sensor indutivo. O movimento da esteira transportadora é efetuado por um motor de indução trifásico, que é acionado pelo conjunto microcontrolador - inversor de frequência. Este conjunto impõe uma frequência no estator do motor através de uma troca de mensagens entre microcontrolador e inversor de frequência (Sistema Mestre-Escravo). Para o envio e recebimento das mensagens, utilizou-se o protocolo de comunicação serial USS® (Universal Serial Interface Protocol) através do padrão RS-485. Os controles de posição e velocidade de rotação do eixo do motor fundamentam-se no sinal gerado pelo encoder óptico incremental, responsável por informar a posição do eixo do motor ao longo da trajetória, e no sensor indutivo que determina uma referência externa importante para a esteira transportadora. Para o funcionamento automático da esteira, elaborou-se um software em linguagem de programação C. Como resultado obteve-se um sistema de controle de posição e velocidade do eixo do motor de indução trifásico que apresenta bons resultados / Abstract: Automated conveyors system have been largely used in industrial applications. However, there are still practical issues to be overcome. One of them is due to the system mechanical limitation which can lead to low accuracy for applications based on "stop-and-go" movements. Induction motors have been largely used in such applications and low costs solutions have been searched. In this work it was developed and implemented a system of positioning and velocity control applied to conveyors which is based on frequency inverter, microcontroller, optical incremental encoder and inductive sensor. The conveyor's movement is made by means of a three-phase induction motor, which is driven by the couple microcontroller-frequency inverter. There are messages exchange between the microcontroller and the frequency inverter (Master - Slave configuration) which is based on the communication serial protocol USS through the RS-485 standard. The position and velocity of the motor spindle are controlled using an optical incremental encoder, which is responsible to provide the position of the trajectory, and an inductive sensor which determines the initial reference to the conveyor. This thesis has its main subject pointed on possibilities of exploiting reconfigurable digital systems on FPGA basis in mixed signal applications. Description of reconfigurable and adaptive systems in general and summary of known architectures is presented in first part of this work. Next, possibilities of exploiting configurability of FPGAs in conjunction with XADC digital to analog converter are examined. These converters are provided in 7-series FPGAs and Zynq-7000 systems from Xilinx. Concept of exploiting XADC for inductance measurements is presented as alternative to existing solution - LDC1000 integrated circuit provided by Texas Instruments. Such system utilizing FPGA and XADC would come with a lot of benefits: better system integration, better signal processing options, possibility of constructing adaptive system with numerous sensory elements and last but not least, lower system cost. Advantages and disadvantages of such approach are analyzed in the very final part of this work and possible options for extension of this work are presented.
