In this regard, the research question of this study is how women&lsquo / s lives change in terms of authority, daily life practices and gender roles after the migration of their husbands. Migração internacional a trabalho: a influência da OIT na legislação migratória brasileira / International labor migration: the influence of ILO in the Brazilian migratory legislation

Zapolla, Letícia Ferrão 21 September 2017 (has links)
International labor migration is part of a global and national context, demanding the knowledge of the norms that govern the theme in question. Because of this, the present study has as general objective to verify the influence of the International Labor Organization (ILO) on Brazilian migratory legislation and if the guidelines of this organization are sufficient for the protection of the migrant worker, taking into account Human Rights Labor Law. The study is based on dogmatic investigation, using bibliographical research - with the reading of works on the subject - and documentary - with the survey of national and international guidelines from 1980, when the Statute of the Foreigner was in force until the advent of Law No. 13,445/2017. After the bibliographical and documentary research, an analysis between the international and internal spheres is carried out, suggesting the fulfillment of international guidelines by Brazil, in addition to the need to adopt an ethical stance towards the migrant worker, given the fact they are considered subjects of rights.

Thomas, Camille 12 1900 (has links)
This research focuses on an exploratory comparative study on the non-accessibility to justice in labor dispute for temporary migrant workers and local workers, based on ethnographic fieldwork conducted in Port-Of-Spain (Trinidad and Tobago) in a French construction company named French Touch Construction. Building from Foucault's thought, I analyze the non-accessibility to justice as a negative effect of the international labor migrations on temporary migrant workers (North and South) and Trinidadian workers. As a result, I argue that the transformation of work and workers’ rights are not only an issue for temporary migrant workers but also for Trinidadian workers. Effectively, international labor migration involve competition between employees and thus deteriorate the social status of Trinidadian employees in the French Touch Company. Indeed, employees have to be more flexible and less demanding of their rights to be included in this new work economy. To sum it up, I suggest that the international labor migrations, which encourage the worker to perceive himself as a holder of limited rights, also favor a managerial conflict resolution that is unfavorable for the employee.

International Worker Cultural Adaptation: A Qualitative Study

Valenzuela, Luis Romero 01 January 2012 (has links)
International workers are a vulnerable population within the hospitality industry. Their challenges, and needs have an impact on productivity, loyalty and satisfaction of international workers towards the organizations that employ them. The social and cultural impacts of labor migration are felt in their new environment by both domestic and immigrant populations. It is important to understand international workers’ acculturation process in order to provide them with tools necessary to succeed; it is also important to create responsible practices that translate into positive migration outcomes for both domestic and foreign populations. This study collected data on the motivations, processes, challenges, and alternatives experienced by international workers when relocating to the United States. It documents the cultural adaptation process followed by international workers laboring in the hospitality industry, and based on the data collected from interviewers’ responses, it creates new constructs intended to assist hospitality organizations in their operations. By providing tools to support international workers in the acculturation process, and by providing new understandings of the cultural adaptation process undertaken by international workers when relocating, it is plausible to convert a challenge and limitation into an opportunity for hospitality organizations to create value out of their international human capital.
