Možnosti využití thoria v jaderné energetice současnosti / Possibilities of thorium utilization in current NPPs

Svoboda, Josef January 2015 (has links)
Nuclear power plants provide about 11 percent of the world's electricity production. For fission process is uranium fuels used with varying percentage of enrichment 235U for most of nuclear reactors. Uranium reserves are reducing and their mining cost increases. Therefore, the thorium fuel is discussed as revolution fuel for current and future nuclear power plants. This diploma thesis deals with possibility of thorium fuel utilization at various types of nuclear reactors with a focus on light water reactors. The practical part of the thesis is focused on simulation and calculations of various uranium dioxide and thorium dioxide layers at the fuel rods. Model of WWER 440 reactor was developed for the calculations with the addition of thorium fuel. The model simulates burning out of fuel for 5 years, with monitoring of fuel behavior and tracking changes of each material. The thesis tries to define the suitable ratio and parameters of layers combination of uranium and thorium fuel. For these ratios and parameters the thesis tries to give sufficient amount of computational analyzes.

Modernizace Jaderné elektrárny Dukovany / Modernization the Dukovany Nuclear Power Station

Kissler, Martin January 2015 (has links)
Thesis focuses on a detailed technical description of all important parts of secondary circuit in Dukovany power plant and its connection to other systems of power plant. In thesis are analyzed significant adjustments which have been made during the entire operation of power plant including in particular the actions associated with project called Utilization of project reserves of units EDU. In the main part of the thesis were carried out calculations of the power plant's power for states before and after the modernization and there is also analyzed the impact of individual changes on the whole power plant. These changes are with the entire secondary circuit drawn in the T-s diagram.

Klasifikace dokumentů podle tématu / Document Classification

Marek, Tomáš January 2013 (has links)
This thesis deals with a document classification, especially with a text classification method. Main goal of this thesis is to analyze two arbitrary document classification algorithms to describe them and to create an implementation of those algorithms. Chosen algorithms are Bayes classifier and classifier based on support vector machines (SVM) which were analyzed and implemented in the practical part of this thesis. One of the main goals of this thesis is to create and choose optimal text features, which are describing the input text best and thus lead to the best classification results. At the end of this thesis there is a bunch of tests showing comparison of efficiency of the chosen classifiers under various conditions.

Regulace genové exprese jadernými receptory ve specifickém metabolickém kontextu - evoluční perspektiva / Gene expression regulation by nuclear receptors in a specific metabolic context - evolutionary perspective

Kaššák, Filip January 2021 (has links)
In animals, some of the most critical regulators of gene expression are nuclear hormone receptors (NRs) and their coregulators, specifically the Mediator complex. Of particular interest are the NRs implicated in metabolic and developmental regulation and in carcinogenesis: thyroid hormone receptors (TRs) and retinoid X receptors (RXRs). In this work, I venture to elucidate some aspects of gene expression regulation by these NRs: the degree of evolutionary conservation of signalling based on NRs and their coregulators; the mechanisms of negative regulation by NRs; and possible implications of these findings for clinical medicine. State-of-the-art bioinformatical, genome editing and microscopic techniques are applied at three levels of animal evolution to study NRs and Mediator. Reverse genomics in human patients suffering from the syndrome of resistance to thyroid hormones β are used to infer the structure and function of TRβ subdomains. Alignments, binding studies and in vivo experiments in Trichoplax adhaerens allow identification of a close orthologue of human RXR at the basis of metazoan evolution. Employing database queries, genome editing and microscopy, we describe a correct orthologue of the Mediator subunit 28 in Caenorhabditis elegans, indicating a complete homology of the Mediator complex...

Zahraniční politika Spojených států amerických vůči Kubě v letech 1958 - 1965 / U. S. Foreign Policy Towards Cuba 1958-1965

Fiala, Jaroslav January 2015 (has links)
The thesis deals with the U.S. foreign policy towards Cuba in the years 1958-1965. It analyses sources of U.S.-Cuban hostility at the beginning of the Fidel Castro era. It shows, how the U.S. foreign policy and the beginning of Cold war contributed to polarization as well as radicalization of politics in Cuba. Thus, it analyses the change of a local conflict into the "international civil war". The aim of the thesis is to argue that Cuba influenced the global balance of power between the Soviet Union and the United States at the beginning of 1960's. The introductory chapters summarize the causes of the Cuban Revolution, the U.S. policy toward friendly dictators, mainly toward Fulgencio Batista in Cuba. Next part deals with the guerilla warfare against Batista and the extent of U.S. influence on this insurrection. The thesis uses a multi-archival research of the U.S. as well as Czech and British sources. The comparison of sources shows the extent of independent Cuban actions and helps to comprehend the logic of the Eastern-European foreign policy. The thesis further analyses the U.S. reaction on Cuban Revolution as well as causes and consequences of the Cuban Missile crisis. Moreover, it deals with the possibilities of improvement in the U.S.-Cuban relations. Last but not least it also analyses the...

Příčiny války v Iráku: Proč se administrativa USA rozhodla zahájit válku v Iráku v roce 2003 / The Causes of Iraqi War: Why the US Administration decided to invade Iraq in 2003

Bartková Sodomová, Renáta January 2009 (has links)
The thesis: "The Causes of Iraqi War: Why the US Administration decided to invade Iraq in 2003" focuses on explanation why the administration of the USA made that step. The specification of the roots of war is based on five causes and seventeen subcauses according to the essay of Stephen Van Evera and other scholars, and the paper trough the methodology of text's analyzes investigates behavior, decision-making process and motivations of the US administration (the level of units) and some steps of the US president G. W. Bush (individual level) in the process leading to the war in Iraq. Concerning the causes of war, the paper introduces different concepts of the offense-defense balance and analyzes whether the balance was disrupted. Secondly, it examines the role of cumulative resources in Iraq like oil, territory and state structures and it shows how they influenced the decision. Third, it searches for the linkage among an emergence of a new threat and responses to it which mouthed to the acceptance of the concept of the first move advantage. Fourth, the thesis accounts for the roots of misperception, where they originate and how they operated in perception of the US administration of the Iraqi threat. Finally, the investigation of the last root of conflict explains why and how windows of...
