The basic task of this thesis is to analyse the political visions of Václav Klaus. The start point is Klaus's entry into high politics in 1989 and the final is the period of his presidency, i. e. the present time. The first part briefly discusses Klaus's professional career before 1989. The following chapter discusses the input Vaclav Klaus in politics, his role in the division of Czechoslovakia and subsequently his position after the establishment of the independent Czech Republic (the position of Prime Minister of the Czech government and since 1997 head of the main opposition party). Next part of the thesis is concerned to the position of the President in relation to the government, the legislature and the judiciary. The President's powers are defined in terms of both constitutional theory and in relation to how the powers developed in conjunction with the practice. There are such examples of presidential vetoes. The thesis also discusses Klaus' attitudes towards selected key issues such as internal politics and presidential powers under it, the relationship with the European Union, relations with Russia, relation to environmental issues, the views of the civil society and NGOism). The aim is to answer the question of how developed during the time of Klaus' political visions, and analyse their consistency. The thesis does not discuss the evaluating or analysing the Klaus's views as such, but only examines the sources of these ideas, their development and their integrity.

The aim of this study was to outline how the media image of the Václav Klaus' amnesty, brought by four Czech dailies in the first half of 2013, looked like and what editorial procedures were used by these media. The research focused on Mladá fronta Dnes, Hospodářské noviny, Právo and Haló noviny. From the methodological point of view it was a long-term research during the first six months of 2013. Articles that contained the keyword amnesty, belonged to the period under review, published in the selected newspapers and for which Anopress database assessed score of at least 90 % were included as a part of the final data collection. After eliminating duplicated and irrelevant articles, 448 units remained and these were subsequently analyzed by the quantitative content analysis. The work itself was divided into several parts, which gave to the analysis a final "form". In the first, theoretical part, were briefly mentioned basic theoretical approaches related to the research. The second part presented a practical section that put the event in the sufficient context. The methodological part outlined steps of the content analysis and also defined the main and subsidiary research questions and relevant hypotheses. Thesis is based on the views of authors of sociology of knowledge (Berger, Luckman, Bourdieu) and authors of discourse analysis (Foucault, Fairclough). The central assumption is that knowledge is socially constructed and that this construction has its strong ideological and hierarchic aspects. Author is analyzing books and texts of Vaclav Klaus using the critical discourse analysis. Author is convinced that Vaclav Klaus has a substantive influence on public opinion in Czech Republic. Also author is convinced the struggle in the discussion over environmental topics is based in different basic assupmtions of discussion participant. Thus author decided to analyse the Vaclav Klaus's basic assumptions for the notions of nature and environment.

Am 3. Mai 2010 jährte sich der Todestag des überregional bekannten Zittauer Bibliothekars und Schriftstellers Klaus Günzel zum fünften Mal. Aus diesem Anlass wurde in der Christian-Weise-Bibliothek Zittau ein Klaus-Günzel-Zimmer feierlich eingeweiht. Einstige Freunde, Bekannte und Stammhörer der Vorträge von Klaus Günzel waren der Einladung zur Einweihung gefolgt. Im Beisein der Witwe des Schriftstellers hielt der Dresdner Kulturwissenschaftler Professor Ingo Zimmermann, Freund und Wegbegleiter Günzels, die Festansprache. Professor Zimmermann regte dabei die Schaffung eines Klaus-Günzel-Stipendiums zur Erschließung und Nutzung des Nachlasses und zur weiteren kultur- und regionalgeschichtlichen Forschungsarbeit an.
