"Klimatomställningen är vår tids ödesfråga" : En kvalitativ studie av svenska politiska partiers gestaltning av klimatet i sina valmanifest år 2022 / “Climate change is the fateful issue of our time”

Setterstig, Amanda, Aigner, Felicia January 2023 (has links)
During the Swedish election campaign of 2022 massive criticism was directed towards the political parties' narrow debate about the most important issue of our time, the climate. The aim of this study is to contribute with knowledge about how the climate is framed in political communication in the Swedish election campaign of 2022. This is done by making visible how the Moderates, the Liberals, the Social Democrats, and the Left Party frame the climate in their election manifestos of 2022. The study is based on Robert Entman’s definition of framing theory and Fairhurst and Sarr’s framing tools: metaphor, jargon, contrast, spin and stories. As a complement rhetorical theory is used based on the triad, ethos, logos and pathos. The method used to analyze the material is qualitative systematic content analysis. This study is placed within the research field of political communication. The result shows that the Moderates, the Liberals, the Social Democrats and the Left Party frame the climate in different ways in their manifestos of 2022, however, every party use Nisbet’s frame Moral and ethic. The Moderates and the Liberals frame the climate by focusing on one aspect, the energy crisis, while the Social Democrats and the Left Party frame through several aspects as energy, biodiversity and ecosystem. There is limited framing competition between the parties. The study contributes with important knowledge concerning the influence that parties election manifestos have on election campaigns, and also how parties design their strategic political communication. The study can also be seen as a link to other research about why the climate is less or more presented within voters.

Yttrandefrihet på upphällningen : En kvalitativ studie av svenska ungdomars förhållande till censur med utgångspunkt från YouTube / Freedom of speech on the decline : A qualitative study of how Swedish teenagers relate to internet censorship

Gannsjö, Erik, Järlesand, Peter January 2017 (has links)
This study examines how of swedish junior high school students relate to internet censorship, using YouTube, the world’s second biggest website, as a starting point. Swedish citizens between the ages of 12-15 years have the largest presence on YouTube and therefore we have chosen to have ninth graders as our respondents. The method of this study is a qualitative approach with open discussions in focus groups. The topics of discussion are different kinds of sensitive content and whether they should be censored. The theoretical frameworks that surround this study and act as the basis for the analysis are the Encoding/Decoding model by Stuart Hall and the Trustworthy communication process by Ulf Petäjä. The results showed that the respondents believed that they should have the same right to express themselves freely on the internet as they have in society. They believe that age restrictions for the youngest citizens in society and systems that allow user to report sensitive content is preferable to premature censorship. The respondents reasoned that the limit of what can be expressed freely can be drawn at lawbreaking or when sensitive content is aimed towards specific individuals or groups with the intention of offending.

Med nålen mot filterbubblan : En diskursanalys av DN:s och SvD:s användning av begreppet filterbubbla / With a needle against the filter bubble : A discourse analysis of DN's and SvD's use of the term filter bubble

Henriksson, Sofia January 2017 (has links)
This essay is about the term filter bubbles and in what way two of the largest Swedish newspapers write about the subject. The purpose of the essay is to study the discourses related to filter bubbles and to examine how journalists write about their significance in the portrayal of the filter bubble in the media. The essay also strives to highlight how the filter bubble discourse has changed over time. The research consists of a briefer quantitative content analysis followed by a more extensive qualitative discourse analysis of 83 selected articles from the Swedish newspapers Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet between the years 2011-2017. The conclusion of the essay is that the medial discourses about the filter bubble are mainly negative with an alarming characteristic. The term filter bubble is also related to fake news in the media and has a widely spread political connotation. The concept of the filter bubble spread from an unknown subject in 2011 to a well-known term in 2017. In summary, there is no nuanced representation of the term filter bubbles found in the medial portrayal.

Anstalten Svartsjö : - säkerhetskommunikation, kommunikativa utmaningar och organisationsklimat

Stajic, Sofia January 2017 (has links)

Cederquist, Linnea January 2017 (has links)

Determination of Viable Connectivity Technology for E-Learning in Tanzania : Case Study of Rural Secondary Schools

Simba, Fatuma January 2012 (has links)
In response to different development challenges, Tanzania is striving to achieve her fourth attribute of the National Development Vision, i.e. to have a well educated and learning society by the year 2025. The earmarked approach is to integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education system (e-learning), in order to improve teaching and learning processes, hence provision of quality education. However, Tanzania is challenged by lack of ICT infrastructures in rural areas, which affects integration of ICT in education. This thesis presents a research work to determine a cost-effective and performance efficient connectivity technology for rural secondary schools to access e-learning resources. The research surveyed wireless technologies, in order to identify potential broadband access technologies suitable for rural areas of the developing countries. Because ICT is a very dynamic sector, the identified technologies were compared by using conceptual framework to study their sustainability and thereafter, analyzed by using techno-economic approach to determine a feasible and cost effective option. Results show that, a third generation (3G) Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) operating at 900MHz is a feasible and cost - effective connectivity technology for rural areas of Tanzania. Furthermore, the research employed a simulation modelling approach to study traffic differentiation and priority scheduling mechanisms in providing Quality of Service (QoS) for e-learning applications in UMTS networks. A simulation model of the UMTS network is developed and used to study performance of e-learning applications as perceived by users. Simulation results showed that, UMTS network configured with traffic differentiation and priority scheduling can guarantee delivery of e-learning services with the required QoS. The Public Private People's Partnership (PPPP) model is proposed by this research as an implementation strategy for sustainable broadband rural connectivity solution.

A “mad” scientist and a piece of plastic will save your life : A quantitative study about the crisis communication of Karolinska Institute during the events of Macchiarini

Jonasson, Malin, Bredberg, Elin January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this study is to examine how Karolinska Institutets (KI) crisis communication looked like during the occurrences of the scientist Paolo Macchiarini that arise mostly due to a documentary made by Swedish Television (SVT) and producer Bosse Lindquist. The study focuses on the occurrences that arise mainly in the beginning of 2016 even though it all started further back in time. To examine this occurrence, we look at how KI communicated with their stakeholders and if KI utilized any crisis management strategies in accordance to this studies theory and to Coombs (2012) recommendations that are presented in the theory chapter of this study. The approach of this study is based on a quantitative content analysis as method, where we critically examine all of the news articles that concerns Macchiarini and were released on KI’s website during 2015-2016. The study will be based in the theory Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT). And to be able to examine the crisis communication of KI looked like during the crisis, and if they used any crisis communication management per this study’s theoretical framework, we have chosen to examine ten variables in the analyze of the 50 news articles. In addition to the content analysis we have performed an interview with the communication Director of KI to get a deeper understanding of their communication, both in-house and external, and to locate how KI handled their crisis communication during the crisis. The result of this study shows that KI partly has been using crisis management tools and strategies in their news articles per the theoretical framework of this study. Per the support of information from our completed interview, it was nothing KI was aware of, but something that they unconsciously made use of.

MEDIA CONSUMPTION BY THE GHANAIAN COMMUNITY IN ÖREBRO, SWEDEN

Kayinza, Maureen January 2018 (has links)
The study examines the usage of media by the Ghanaian new migrants living in Örebro Sweden. It looks at how the new migrants keep abreast with what is happening in Sweden, their home country Ghana and the rest of the world. The findings show that, the growing numbers of migrants and the kind of diasporic media have significant implications for imagining multicultural Sweden and for participating in European societies and transnational communities. What is argued here is how the new migrants will make use of the diasporic media for their benefit. This study further investigates how the diaspora use the media, it is not to show that society is different or to make impulsive statements on the role of certain media in contributing to integration per se of the new migrants in their host countries. Through qualitative interviews, the study reveals that new migrants find it difficult to make use of the Swedish public sphere. The mainstream media is aloof in everything that interests and benefits new migrants. However alternatives like the internet have tended to close the information gap that the mainstream media has created among the new migrants. Sadly the internet does not play the role that the main stream media would have for new migrants into the Swedish public sphere because the information new migrants’ access is varied and there is no motivation to help them easily get into Swedish public sphere as would have been the case with Swedish mainstream media. Information analysed from the interviews conducted in Örebro indicates that new migrants rely more on the internet than Swedish mainstream media regardless of the length of stay in Sweden. The most affected are those who have lived in Sweden for less than two years and have not acclamatized themselves with the Swedish language which would have enabled them to read Swedish publications, listen to Swedish radio broadcasts and watch Swedish television broadcasts. This, coupled with programmes that help new migrants to make use of the Swedish public sphere would have made Sweden a truly multicultural society. Finally the study suggests areas of further study and research that can be explored in order to promote multiculturalism that Sweden strives to achieve through its policy. The limitations that the study points out only help a researcher to avoid situations that could limit the benefits of the study thereby accessing information that develops and promotes multiculturalism where it is lacking currently.
