Premonstrátský klášter a kostel sv. Jiljí v Milevsku / Premonstratensian Monastery and Saint Giles Church in Milevsko

This dissertation focuses on the constructing and architectonic development of Premonstratensian monastery and the church of St. Giles of Milevsko in the Middle Ages. The work is based on the older art historical literature and it evaluates the archaeological researches' findings in the locality as well as construction and historic researches of particular buildings, which were carried on with connection to the restitution of the site to the Premonstratensian order in the 1990s. The work demonstrates the Milevsko grounds picture and its construction as well as architectonic development from the establishment of the pre- monastery era in the eighth century until the Hussite's wars. The dissertation provides study of court with a church with apsis, stone Romanesque house and the basilica. It characterises the George of Milevsko personality as well as the significance of the abbot Jarloch. It analyses in detail the Roman architecture of St. Giles Church and attempts to interpret the procedure of its construction. Furthermore, it deals with the shape of the monastery's basilica and the description of Romanesque monastic buildings while comparing the premises to other monastic sites in this country. Country churches are in the study of early medieval religious architecture the important point. In many cases, as is also the case in South Bohemia, just these shrines become an important group of objects that reflects historic rendition of certain art forms in architecture. A very important part of this theses is dedicated to a general definition of the characteristics of the construction rural churches in the area of central Pootaví. The main part of this work is a catalog of selected rural churches, which provides separate studies with detailed analysis of their construction history. The aim is to introduce the oldest form of each selected sacred sites around Strakonice. Finally, every catalog password is integrated in the system-defined groups according to the most outstanding architectural features. Also each password contents a short assessment of the quality and importance of construction, including efforts to introduce wider relations to artistic center in Strakonice or areas completely remote. Selection of buildings is made up to present rural churches far less known. With some exceptions, these are sights that are not in the literature strongly addressed. The main aim of this diploma thesis is to explain the method of financing charity and secure funding church institutions situated on the territory of city of České Budějovice in the Middle Ages. The work is divided into six chapters. The first part consists of describing the development of Church administration in Bohemia from beginning of Christianity to the Middle Ages. The second chapter presents the person of parish priest and describes the function of the parish. On this passage follows a treatise of the right of patronage. The theoretical part of this thesis is concluded with a chapter which explains the general financial insurance and patronage support of parishes. The practical part is devoted to the development of foundation agenda in České Budějovice and also brings the structure of rural parishes and parish networks in the vicinity of this city. The work includes the list of used sources, literature and attachments. The annexes include tables containing summary data from municipal book of donation records, the main source of this thesis. It also contains tables relating the occupation the parish benefices by parish priest as well as the photographs of mentioned churches.

The work explores one particular village in southern Bohemia. The first chapters deal with the theoretical foundations of the work, the history of the village, the development in Czechoslovakia and the development in the South Bohemian countryside. The following chapters focus on childhood, education, agriculture and industry, changing into state socialism, trying to uncover the possible emerging different generational experiences.

The work deals with the historical development of the liturgical space and the architecture of the Břevnov monastery. The first part describes all building styles which were applied to Christian churches and their influance on the worship. It also includes numerous examples of important sacral buildings in our country as well as abroad. Next it deals with the changes concerning the liturgical space and liturgy itself after the 2nd Vatican Council and gives some examples of Post-Council churches. The subject matter of the second part is the Břevnov Monastery. First it briefly describes the history of Břevnov and its architectural development from Romanesque period to the Baroque style. In order to understand its constructional development it was necessary to mention some notable people and historic events that influenced the outer appearance and the inside structure of the monastery.

The thesis deals with the introduction of methods used in the repairs of historical and listed buildings, focusing on timber and masonry load-bearing structures. The text describes the causes and types of structural defects, as well as possible ways of rehabilitation and is also supplemented by examples of their use in practice. This should create a sample book to show which options can be selected and what needs to be considered when restoring individual elements, so that the whole process of repairs is in accordance with the principles of monument care. Possible approaches and methods of reconstruction process of listed building are then demonstrated in the ongoing overall renovation of the pilgrimage site in Horní Police, which is a national cultural monument. The work focuses on the individual buildings of the complex, the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, the ambit that surrounds it and the entrance tower with a bell tower. The author also presents the history and description of the place of pilgrimage. This diploma thesis deals with primary school student's preconceptions of church influenced by experience. The theoretical part summarizes the findings connected to the issues of children's preconceptions and their importance in the process of learning. It describes recommended techniques of working with children's preconceptions and it informs about factors which influence children's understandings. The following chapter concentrates on the definition of outreach and its value in children's lives. Furthermore, the thesis shows the connection of the term church with the Framework Education Programme for Elementary Education, especially in the section of spiritual and social studies. The next chapter focuses on social studies in general and also on cultural universals as a possible resolution of the issues in social studies. The empirical part describes lectures in a church for primary school students which develop children's understandings of the term church. The diploma thesis suggests an improved design as an innovation of the lectures. Children's preconceptions of church are researched through individual interviews with pupils. This diploma thesis deals with urban studies on the territory of Svitavy river in Brno-Husovice. Part of the solved territory is defined as a brownfield - specifically, it is a former Zetor site. New backbone roads are proposed in the defined area, new residential complexes that integrate the area into the surrounding area. In the north of the proposed area, I propose the Park & Ride Park House at the large city ring road in Brno. The proposal also includes the creation of recreational areas - near the embankment, a city park is set up near the Provazníkova road. An interesting feature is the creation of a public space shielded from traffic.

The assignment of this diploma thesis followed previous analysis of the regions of Valašsko and Haná. The outcome of this analysis showed several problems. One of the most serious problems is a lack of spiritual and liturgical sites in the area of Zlín. The analysis and synthesis preceding this diploma thesis are enclosed. The analysis of sites of pilgrimage in the area of Zlín was one of the studied subjects. The assignment of the diploma thesis was created using a combination of discovered data – design of the site of pilgrimage including a church and spiritual centre. This building is to support local community, christian religion and rehabilitation of the present site of pilgrimage Svatá voda – Kaménka. This diploma thesis deals with the design of a church as a site of pilgrimage, with facilities and café for the public. It also deals with the design of a spiritual centre with weekly spiritual programme. There are also four flats designed as accommodation for clergymen. The designed buildings are located 250 metres away form the present site of pilgrimage Svatá voda.
