Vzájemné souvislosti úrokových sazeb a měnových kurzů (na příkladu vybraných zemí) / Bilateral relations between interest rates and exchange rates (in selected countries)

Kočí, Tomáš January 2009 (has links)
This thesis deals with the relation between interest differential and exchange rate. First part is about the exchange rate system explanation and about explanation of theoretical background of relation between interest rate and exchange rate (i. e. Asset Market Model, Interest Rate Parity, etc.). The goal of second part is to verify theoretical assumptions on empirical data. There is a sample of ten European countries which is used for applying of graphical analysis, regression analysis and VAR model analysis.

The Role of USD in a Globalized Economy / The Role of USD in a Globalized Economy

Vávrová, Barbora January 2009 (has links)
The main aim of my thesis is to describe the development of the American dollar's position within the historical background, its role in a globalized economy and analyze the current position of the dollar as the world's leading currency. The thesis is divided into three parts. First part is dedicated to the theoretical background concerning exchange rates and currency regimes. The second chapter considers the history of the international monetary system with the relation to the dollar. The third chapter analyzes the current situation and characteristics determining the role of American dollar. This chapter also describes some problems of American economy, analyses exchange rate of dollar against Euro and gives possible forecast of dollar's position for the future.

Vliv velkých sportovních akcí na měnové kurzy / Influence of big sports events on exchange rates

Malý, Vítězslav January 2013 (has links)
The subject of thesis "Influence of big sports events on exchange rates" is to analyse movement of exchange rates during sports events. Currency pairs are studied for this purpose in various time periods. Technical indicators from technical analysis are used to identify similar elements in movement of exchange rates. Results of analysis answer the question, whether sports events such as Olympic Games or world championship can influence exchange rate.

Souvislosti platební bilance a měnového kurzu (analýza a komparace vybraných ekonomik) / Relations between balance of payments and exchange rate in selected economies

Novák, Petr January 2015 (has links)
The main goals of this dissertation are to analyze balance of payments and foreign exchange rate and to examine mutual relations between these two concepts. The first part describes basic terms related to international finance. These terms are structure of balance of payments, foreign exchange rate and exchange rate regimes. The second part presents four selected foreign economics (Japan, South Africa, Paraguay, Dominican republic) which will be subdue to the analysis. The third and final part is devoted to the regression analysis. Relations between balance of payments and foreign exchange rate are analyzed by the method of ordinary least squares. Necessary data was gained from the IMF server.

Does 'News' Approach Outperform Monetary Model in Exchange Rate Determination? / Does 'news' approach outperform monetary model in exchange rate determination?

Weichetová, Lenka January 2013 (has links)
This thesis aims to contribute in the field of exchange rate determination. Firstly, it sums results of previous studies (theoretical as well as empirical ones). Consequently, it investigates two approaches to exchange rate determination, and compares their theoretical and empirical performance. Firstly, monetary model is introduced, and secondly 'news' model is presented. Since 'news' model incorporates rational expectations and considers interest rate endogenous, it is expected to give better results in comparison with monetary model. Six exchange rates were chosen for the empirical analysis. They are analyzed in period July 2000 -- June 2012. As expected, 'news' model outperforms monetary model. However, since the volatility of exchange rate is much bigger in reality than both of the models are able to explain, neither of the models can be considered as satisfactory. It is the same result which has been presented in older studies that investigated these models.

Purchasing Power Parity - Theory and Practice / Parita kupní síly - teorie a praxe

Bukat, Michał Aleksander January 2015 (has links)
The thesis explains the theory of purchasing power parity and related concepts. It shows differences in prices and wages all around the globe and gives theoretical explanation of existing disparities. The goal is to find out how prices differ in reality, where costs of living are the highest or the lowest and what makes some products more or less expensive in different countries. In order to answer the questions the thesis deals with, the variety of sources was used, starting from economics textbooks, academic journals, literature reviews, the Economist website, a study of UBS 'Prices and Earnings', International Monetary Fund database and others.

Kurzové riziko a možnosti jeho riadenia na príklade vybraného podniku / Exchange rate risk and ways of its management

Bošanská, Radka January 2011 (has links)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to analyze the exchange rate risk, to suggest and demonstrate the possibilities of the risk management in the case study of AWT Group. The conclusions of the case study are generalized to be utilizable for other companies. Diploma thesis is divided into two main parts - theoretical part and case study. Concept of exchange rate risk and ways of its management are explained in the theoretical part. The theoretical knowledge is applied to praxis in case study of AWT.

Souvislosti platební bilance a měnového kurzu (analýza a komparace vybraných ekonomik) / Relations between balance of payments and exchange rate (analysis and comparison of selected countries)

Toperczerová, Michaela January 2011 (has links)
This master thesis examines mutual relations between components of the balance of payments and the foreign exchange rate. The first part briefly describes the structure of the balance of payments and the theory of the foreign exchange rate as a macro-economical variable, which can be seen in many different systems. The next part brings the characteristics of historic and recent economic conditions and challenges of four selected countries: Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC). In the empirical part, relations between components of the balance of payments and the development of the exchange rate are analyzed by methods of the linear regression. The time-series consisted of annual data for a period of fifteen to seventeen years.

Analýza vztahu úrokové míry a měnového kurzu v podmínkách malé otevřené ekonomiky / Analysis of the relationship between interest rate and exchange rate within boarders of a small open economy

Brigant, Michal January 2012 (has links)
Primary objective of this thesis was to analyse the relationship between exchange rate and interest rate within borders of a small open economy. Different theoretical approaches often present us with various, sometimes even opposing conclusions when it comes to the matter of direction and intensity of the causal influence between these two variables. From author's point of view it is important to perceive the interaction between exchange rate and interest rate as a dynamic process rather than a static relationship. The empirical analysis was conducted on monthly time series (2000-2012) of three selected small open economies -- Poland, Hungary and Czech Republic. Graphical analysis, linear regression, vector autoregression and cointegration analysis were selected as suitable tools for meeting the objective of this thesis. Models themselves presented us with interesting conclusions, for example a proof of the international Fisher effect, exchange rate causally affecting the interest rate (interest rate differential) in case of spot rates against euro. Another curious phenomena was the inflow of foreign debt capital, which, as it seems, was actually pulling the exchange rate down rather than pushing it up due to rising indebtedness of the economy.
