Optický bezkabelový přenos / Optical cableless transmissionNěmec, Filip January 2010 (has links)
This diploma thesis first handles the general issues concerning free space optics in the~atmosphere. The aim is to design and implementation of optical wireless equipment, which would serve in the laboratories of optical networks. Ronja was used as the basis for a~wireless link, which is already widespread in the world. Students will work with the device, which they may come into contact in the future. It consists several separate modules: transmitter, receiver and inteface. Each module have a separate chapter describing the~functional blocks and circuit realization. Ronja was adjusted for the needs of~laboratory tasks, where additional voltmeters measures received signal strength (RSSI) at~both ends of the link. Measuring device provides adjustment of power the transmitting LED via~computer, measures and sends RSSI values to a PC via~USB or RS232, turn off Ronja with computer. For targeting the pipes of Ronja was developed the mechanical design. In the last part of thesis the device was undergone a series of tests.

Management ICT střední školy / Secondary School ICT ManagementVendl, Jan January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to create a proposal for the modernization of secondary school computer network and its security to function as stable as possible and reliable, but not to restrict its users more than necessary. Part of the work focused on upgrading existing network will be based on the applicable standards of cabling systems, security design itself will be solved by the project from the perspective of project management, including assessing the risk of liability and the draft guidelines.

From Two Packets to One: Increasing the Performance of Linda-LANChristian, Jason L. 03 February 1997 (has links)
Although networked-based computational environments such as Linda-LAN provide parallel processing capability, performance is still a major concern. One critical factor that can hinder the performance of any parallel processing environment is the high cost of interprocess communication. The goal of this project is to increase the performance of C-Linda programs executed in the Linda-LAN environment. With the current two packet message passing scheme, a receiving process listens for a header packet to arrive on a socket connection. Once the header packet has been received, the process then reads the data packet that follows. Reading the data packet may cause the process to block since the data may not have arrived. By modifying the two packet scheme to use only a single packet, the potential for blocking is removed since the header and data packets are guaranteed to arrive at the same time. Hence, the time spent waiting for the data is nullified, thus producing an increase in performance. / Master of Science

A Simulator for analyzing the throughput of IEEE 802.11b Wireless LAN SystemsVasudevan, Srinivasan 11 February 2005 (has links)
Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) have proliferated in the last 5 years. The IEEE 802.11b products have become commonplace both in the residential and business places for untethered Internet access. However the end user experience has often been less satisfactory than what the technology can offer. The degradation in the performance of the system is mainly attributed to the poor network design. The current network design is primarily RF centric. There are two factors that need to be in the incorporated in the design. Firstly a clear understanding of the traffic sources in the network such as the peak load of the system is necessary. Secondly the design should account for the limitations of the indoor propagation such as interference and multipath.
The goal of this thesis is to develop a simulator which will predict the performance (throughput) of an end user. The throughput is predicted for a given topology and traffic source. The simulator is built on object oriented design. To validate the simulator a measurement campaign was conducted. The campaign was conducted in two different channel conditions, office space and open hall. The channel measurements were also performed at these locations to understand the multipath.
Comparative studies indicate that the choice of the rate adaptation algorithm hugely influences the predicted throughput. The simulator results match very well with the measurement results for the open space scenario. For the office space scenario the simulator varied by roughly 20% from the measurement results. This was due to existence of multipath leading to Inter Symbol Interference. / Master of Science

A Comprehensive In-Building and Microcellular Wireless Communication System Design ToolSkidmore, Roger R. 18 August 1997 (has links)
Indoor wireless communication systems are becoming increasingly prevalent in work environments. The need to quickly and efficiently provide in-building and microcellular coverage without sacrificing quality is critical to cellular and emerging personal communication system (PCS) operators. Traditionally, indoor wireless communication system design has been carried out by human experts relying on experience to determine a satisfactory system configuration. This thesis describes the algorithms and technical considerations implemented in a comprehensive propagation planning tool, SMT Plus, which has been designed to predict the coverage regions of both in-building and microcellular wireless communication systems. The goal of SMT Plus is to provide both wireless service providers and equipment manufacturers with an efficient, easy-to-use coverage prediction tool for use in the design of any indoor or campus-wide wireless system. Using site-specific building information combined with on-site signal strength measurements, the tool provides system planners with a highly accurate model of the propagation environment among a group of buildings. SMT Plus provides a comprehensive solution to the planning and installation of wireless communication systems in and around buildings. / Master of Science
