Maslova, Julija 13 June 2006 (has links)
The master`s thesis analyses advertising texts in V. Pelevin`s novel Generation “P” from the point of view of parody of really existing advertising and from the aspect of intertextuality and linguistic analysis. Linguistic analysis involves finding out the linguistic means used in the base text (real advertising) and the prototype text (parodic advertising), comparison and analysis of these means. Linguistic realization of the category of intertextuality in advertising texts (quotes, allusions, reminiscences) is based on the analysis of association that are acquired by the user in the process of recognition of the traces of other texts in the text.

Les series lexicales, leur role dans le texte / Lexical series, their role in the text

Aliukonytė, Aurelija 05 June 2006 (has links)
All the words can be classified by their forms, their meanings and their forms. In my work I presented the synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, hyperonyms, hoponyms, paronyms and autonyms and their fonctionement in the text. The synonyms, the antonyms, the homonyms and the others are very important for the language. The synonyms and the antonyms are very closely related to the polysemy of the words. Synonyms are different words with similar or identical meanings. The synonyms are used to describe qualities and defects of English and French peoples, for better express one or other idea, to give more color and details to the text, to convince the reader. Very often the synonyms create ironic situations. The synonyms are also very attractive for the publicity which objective is to persuade that such or such product is better than others. Antonym is the word that means the opposite of another. The writers are using the antonyms in their works to create the antitheses. In the analyzed book we can notice that almost all the text is created at the base of the antithesis, where the author opposes two nations to show their way to live, their characters, their habits and their traditions. Generally the antitheses created contain the ironic character. Homonym is a word that is written and pronounced the same way as another, but which has a different meaning. The homonyms especially the homophons are used in publicity. The homophons are used to make the products more attractive to the... [to full text]

Valence francouzských adverbií / Valency of French adverbs

Holubová, Barbora January 2015 (has links)
(in English): French grammars define the word class adverbs as a very heterogeneous set distinguished particularly by its invariability and intransitivity. The aim of this thesis is to study the valency structure of certain French adverbs forming such a subset which to certain extent denies aforesaid definition. Therefore, the definition of adverbial valency and the characteristic of "inheritance" and "fading" of adverbial valency potential after a transformation from verbs and adjectives will be given. The outcomes of the theoretical part will then be verified by analysing the data presented in the electronic dictionary le Petit Robert completed by qualitative and quantitative analyses based on two written French corpuses: Frantext and L'Est Républicain. To describe the "inheritance" and "fading" of valency potential, the same method will be used to depict the set of the adverbs derived from the adjectives, which take prepositional phrases headed by the preposition de as their complement. This work will be based not only on the theory of general linguistics and grammar, but also on the knowledge of mathematical and corpus linguistics. Klíčová slova (anglicky): valence, adverbs, French, corpus linguistics.

Význam jazykového výkladu v interpretaci práva / The importance of linguistic interpretation of law

Čížkovská, Anna Marie January 2012 (has links)
This thesis describes linguistic interpretation in the context of interpretation of law, that is defined either as discipline of law, either as social discipline. In linguistic interpretation plays basic role linguistic interpretation. In the chapter that follows the chapter with description of the linguistic interpretation and its specifics in interpretation of law, the author puts linguistic interpretation among the other methods of interpretation. Although she admits the opinion of The Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic, that linguistic interpretation is only the first approach to the text, she looks for argumentation that disproves this opinion. She finds one of possible arguments, when she relativizes enumeration of linguistics disciplines, because of pragmatics. Pragmatics as a linguistic discipline is not in this enumeration. The author says, that the reason is, that pragmatics would change meaning and understanding of the linguistic interpretation, bescause of presence of context as a common factor in pragmatics and in the teleological interpretation. The fourth chapter describes legal language as an object of the linguistic interpretation and also as an instrument of lawmakers. Author finds a reason for necessity of the linguistic interpretation in the fact, that lawmakers don't...

Finitní průběhové tvary slovesné v odborném mluveném a psaném monologu. / Finite progressive forms in the academic spoken and written monologue

Bartekova, Barbora January 2014 (has links)
Page | 5 Abstract The MA thesis explores finite progressive forms in the academic spoken and written monologue. The English progressive forms generally appear much less frequently than the simple forms do. In academic spoken language 90 per cent of the finite verb forms consist of simple forms and the representation of simple forms is even higher in academic written language with 95 per cent of the finite verb forms being simple. The reasons for this distribution are related on the one hand to the specific meaning of the progressive forms, and on the other hand to the restricted compatibility of the progressive forms and some semantic verb classes. The present study considers both of these aspects in the attempt to describe the progressive forms in the academic spoken monologue (university lectures) and in the academic written language (advanced students' papers). The material is excerpted from two British academic English corpora, namely BASE (spoken language) and BAWE (written texts), 100 examples from each corpus. The material is analyzed at the formal, functional and discourse levels. The formal analysis deals with the distribution of tense forms, negation, the subject (person and animacy) and clause types. The functional criteria involve the semantic features of the verb and subject, as well as the...
