Sémantická analýza vybraných českých klíčových slov. Teorie přirozeného sémantického metajazyka v češtině / Semantic Analysis of Selected Czech Key Words. Theory of Natural Semantic Metalanguage Applied to Czech

Pavlásková, Marie January 2017 (has links)
Diploma thesis, which is based on Anna Wierzbicka's natural semantic metalanguage theory, discusses certain specific features of Czech language worldview and compares them with specific features of English language worldview. This intercultural comparison is made possible by the cultural neutrality of the natural semantic metalanguage which serves as a language in which explications of analyzed words are formulated and compared to their English counterparts. Analyses of Czech keywords are based mainly on the use of dictionaries (explanatory and etymological dictionaries and dictionaries of phrases and idioms) and Czech corpora. The analysis aims to show differences between Czech and English cultural norms and values as reflected in different semantic structures of analyzed concepts, which presumably indicate deeper differences in perceiving and interpreting reality in both languages.

Teorie rámců a její edukační možnosti / Theory of Frames and its Educational Possibilities

Huleja, Jan January 2018 (has links)
Theory of Frames and its Educational Possibilities Jan Huleja Czech Language Departement PhDr. Ladislav Janovec, Ph.D. Abstract The dissertation Theory of Frames and its Educational Possibilities consists of a theoretical, practical and didactic chapter. The theme of the first chapter is the Theory of Frames that includes a variety of concepts and theoretical views across different humanities and social disciplines that discuss how individuals, groups and societies perceive and organize reality and how they communicate about it. In the next part of the dissertation the application Frames of Ostrava in the Czech Linguistic Picture of the World demonstrates the potential of the Theory of Frames for cultural-linguistic and discourse analyzes. It analyses an extensive and representative sample of Czech language material (text, system and empirical language data) and attempts to reconstruct the Czech linguistic picture of Ostrava. We are focusing on what frames the picture of Ostrava is composed of, i. e. how it is predominantly portrayed by the users of the Czech language, how they narrate about it. At the same time our aim is to present Ostrava as a significant Czech cultural and social phenomenon evoked by such lexical units and structured by such conceptual means that are unmistakably "Ostravian" in the text...

Produktivita konstrukce CAUSED-MOTION v současné angličtině / On Productivity of the CAUSED-MOTION Construction in Present-day English

Machová, Eva January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this master's thesis is to define the productivity of the caused-motion construction and describe what syntactic and semantic constraints limit it. While some consideration is given to the possibilities of using the construction's arguments, the principal focus is on the study of the main verbs that occur in the construction. The verbs can come from a variety of different semantic classes because of the construction's polysemous character and the coercion process, which allows constructions to change verbs' meaning and valency structure. The major constraints on the productivity of constructions that were discussed in Goldberg (1995), Suttle & Goldberg (2011) and Robenalt & Goldberg (2015) are the semantic coherence principle, the correspondence principle, similarity to attested verb classes, coverage, statistical pre-emption and conservatism via entrenchment. These, together with the semantic constraints imposed by the caused-motion construction's meaning, were the expected restrictions on the productive use of verbs in the construction. The analysed examples of the caused-motion construction come from the Spoken BNC2014 (Love et al., 2017) which can be considered representative of present-day spoken British English. The construction and corpus token frequencies of the main verbs...

Korpusový přístup ve výuce češtiny jako cizího jazyka / Corpus approach to teaching Czech as a foreign language

Zasina, Adrian Jan January 2019 (has links)
Title: Corpus approach to teaching Czech as a foreign language Author: Mgr. Bc. Adrian Jan Zasina Department: Institute of the Czech National Corpus Supervisor: Mgr. Lucie Lukešová, Ph.D. Abstract: Recently, we have experienced a rapid development in information technologies which is closely linked with the development of language corpora. Language corpora provide an indispensable amount of authentic data and information about how the real language works, therefore it is no wonder they deserve our attention in language teaching as well. We have seen a growing interest in the use of corpus resources in teaching Czech as a foreign language, however, the methodological issues dealing with specific applications have so far been rather neglected. Therefore, the present dissertation aims to systematically map the possibilities of incorporating corpora into current language teaching while considering the specific language needs of foreigners based on their typical errors. The emphasis is not only on a coherent methodological framework, but also on a practical demonstration of the work with corpus data, which is intended not only for corpus specialists but especially for teachers and their students. The basis of the work lies in an extensive analysis mapping the most problematic phenomena in teaching Czech...

Gestikulace a eventuálnost: mezijazyková studie / Gesture and eventuality: a cross-linguistic study

Jehlička, Jakub January 2021 (has links)
