Lodi recreation survey

Francis, Ralph B. 01 January 1941 (has links)
It is the purpose of this study to make a complete recreation survey of Lodi with the idea of determining the need for a community sponsored recreation program. Lodi as a community is anxious to develop the welfare of its citizens. With the advancement and betterment of the community in mind, the results of this report are to be studied, checked, and acted upon by all groups interested in a community recreation program. For the purpose of clarification, recreation will be treated as leisure-time activity as for most people the opportunities for it are largely confined to their leisure hours. Dr. John H. Finley has pointed out, "the word, 'recreation' is broad enough to include play-music, the drama, the crafts, every free activity and especially creative activity for the enrichment of life".1 These findings will present the many factors showing the place of a community recreation program in our modern city life.

Historical study of the public schools of Lodi, California, from 1852 to 1938

Wetmore, Ralph Morton 01 January 1957 (has links) (PDF)
The main purpose for such a study as this is two-fold. First, much of the information which is vital to such a collection of historical facts is becoming misplaced or lost. Old-time residents pass away and first-hand knowledge is forever lost. Certain records are destroyed by people not realizing the value of the documents. The longer one waits to collect historical information the more difficult the job becomes. In certain instances it becomes impossible to locate. Thus, of primary interest is the capturing of historical knowledge before it becomes too difficult to find. Secondly, having one source to which one may turn regarding any single subject is of some value. As it is now, in order to locate information about the Lodi schools one might refer to as many as fifteen or twenty different sources. This is not only time-consuming but discouraging. Such an endless task is needless when some person takes time to uncover and collect the information and make it available for others. Also, not to be overlooked is the value of knowing the historical nature of the local educational system for the sake of history itself. It has been oftentimes said that the present cannot be fully appreciated without some knowledge of the past. This study, therefore, is justified on the bases of these factors: first, the preservation and collection of historical data for those who many wish to make use of such information for pleasure or general knowledge, and secondly, the compilation of these data into one source for easy reference.

A critical evaluation of the use of the Orleans Geometry Prognosis Test in the Lodi Union High School

Davis, Wendell 01 January 1960 (has links)
During the period of this study approximately twenty percent of the students enrolled in the plane geometry course in the Lodi Union High School failed. Students were admitted to the course if they had attained a grade of “B” for their third quarter of first year Algebra, or if their Algebra teacher recommended that they be allowed to enroll on a trial basis, or if the student was not recommended but he and his parents requested that he be allowed to enroll. The Orleans Geometry Prognosis Test was given at the beginning of the geometry course so that students, teachers, counselors, and parents might have further insight into the student’s likelihood of success. It is the purpose of this study to evaluate the usefulness of the Orleans Geometry Prognosis Test as used in the Lodi Union High School and to determine if its use in conjunction with two other standardized measuring instruments would yield better prediction results. The additional prediction tests were two subtests of the Differential Aptitude Test battery, the test of Numerical Ability and the test of Abstract Reasoning. The criterion of success used was the Seattle Plane Geometry Test. SImple and multiple correlations were computed.

_________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This work had for objective to identify the dynamics of institutionalization of the entrepreneurship in the Industry System (Federation of Industries, CNI, SESI, SENAI, IEL), since 1997 it started to be approached for the Brazilian industrial thought with the speeach to favor a sustainable development of the country. The Industry System looks for to institutionalize a national plan of stimulus to the entrepreneurship and the formation of entrepreneurs, by means of action and programs of educational character directed for the entrepreneurship, innovation and competitiveness. As regards to the methodology, was carried out a study of case the ES-Empreendedor program, developed by Federation of Industries from Espírito Santo – FINDES, from the theoretical referencial constituted by the thematic of the industrial thought, entrepreneurship under the economic approaches, entrepreneurial behavior and sociological-cultural, and institutionalization, mainly as for the institucional isomorphism, to the legitimacy and to the institutionalization factors: leadership, doctrine, program, resources, structure, bonds and transactions. In this study of case, it was carried through the analysis of content, as much of the documentary research as of the interviews carried through with 20 people of the System Industry, the FINDES, the Government of the Espirito Santo and entrepreneurs. The results suggest that the industrial thought with emphasis in the entrepreneurship started its process of institutionalization from 1997, being evidenced a distance between the speech, the projects and the expectations of the entrepreneurs. The approach of the entrepreneurship in the speeches is economic and in the projects and expectations of the entrepreneurial behavior. Moreover, it was established that the Program ES-Empreendedor already acquired the cognitive legitimacy in FINDES System by means of the mimetic isomorphism the practical adopted in the EMPRETEC, Junior Achievement, Workshop of Entrepreneurship and Enterprising Pedagogy. The leadership, the availability of resources and structure and the commetment of the institutions involved had been identified by the interviewed ones as critical factors for the perenniality of the Program ES-entrepreneur. Moreover, it was perceived by interviewed the necessity sedimentary practical of this program in the environment Industry System as a whole. For this, the analysis dynamics institutionalization of the ES-Empreendedor indicated as crucial factors the establishment of the bonds and institucional transactions that can guarantee the continuity of the actions for some time, as well as the culture and the institucional environment of the country, that they intervene with the dimension of the moral legitimacy, being able to contribute in the perpetuation and transcendence of the program.
